Melody's Pov

Walking out the diner at three AM finishing my twelve hour shift. Annoyed and tired walking home because I didn't drive today. Because I was only supposed to work five hours today. The sun would still be out as I made it home.

Walking home passing this bar when I notice this group of men. Sighing softly walking pass them "hey baby where you going?" One asked I didn't answer. "Come have a drink with us sweet heart " I just kept walking. "Why you acting like you can't hear us baby," I didn't turn my head. 

Walking for a while I still heard them behind me. Trying to catch up with me walking when until I saw this one guy. I rather take my chance with one then five. Walking up to him I put my arms around him. "Hey baby," I said out loud. Bringing his arm around my waist. He looked down at me "play along please those guys are following me," I whispered.

"Hey ma I'm sorry I'm late," he said and I sighed in relief. I heard those men footsteps stopped. "Come on ma," the guy lead me to his car. Which scared me but I would rather my chances with one then five.

He put me in the car and he got on the driver side. He start it up turning on the heat but didn't move. "Don't worry ma I ain't gone do nothing to you," he said and I nod breathing out. Looking over those guys still in the same spot.

"What you do to them?" He asked. "Walked by and didn't respond," I said and he shook his head "bitch Ass," he said making me laugh. "Why you walking around this late?" He asked me. "I decided it was such a beautiful day that I'll walk to work. Then three people called out. The owners are old and I couldn't leave them hanging," I said shaking my head.

"Then you should had called your boyfriend to pick you up," he said and I laughed. "Was that a cute way of asking if I'm single?" I asked and he smirked a bit.

And I got a good look of him his dark skin looked smooth. His beard full and his waved was on point. He smelt really good dressed down in all black and his shoes was nice. "Maybe," he said and I laughed a bit.

"I don't have a boyfriend haven't had one for about eight months," I said and he hmm. "What happens to ole boy then," he asked "you the feds or something?" I asked and he laughed at me. "Nah baby not even close," he said. "He cheated on me we were only together like six month though. So it didn't hurt to bad just was disappointed," I said.

Making him nod "can't really be out here just trusting anyone," he said and I nod. "Tell me about it he's weird though he be popping up out of no where," I said and he chuckled. "His Ass better not knock on this window then," he said causing me to shake my head.

"What's your name?" I asked him "Ace," he said and I made a face. "What your mama call you?" I asked and he laughed. "Apollo," he said and I smiled. "I love that name," I said and he rolled his eyes. "I'm dead ass if I ever had a son I would call him Apollo," I said making him chuckle.

"What your name?" He asked "Melody," I said and he smiled "that's a pretty name," he said and I nod "I know," I said making him laugh. Looking behind us "I guess they left thanks for saving me Apollo," I said about to get out. But he pulled me back "let me take you home," he said and I bit my bottom lip thinking.

"Come on ma," he said and I nod as he pulled off I only live five more minutes away. Pointing to the apartment complex he looked at it and parked. "So what made you stopped me?" He asked and I laughed. "I'd rather take my chance with one guy then five," I said and he laughed. "I'm serious," I said making him chuckle.

"You smoke?" He asked and I shrug " occasionally," I said and he hmm "how frequent is occasionally," he asked and I laughed. "Every few months I guess when I'm really stressed out," I said as he lite the blunt.

Taking a puff then passing it to me. "This isn't lace or anything?" I asked and he shook his head no. "Nah ma why would I do that to you," he asked and I shrug. "You never know men are weird," I said hitting it.

Then coughing up a lung making him laugh at me. "Alright that's a no," he said putting it out making me pout. "You cute ma," making me smile rolling my eyes. "Give me your phone," he said I hand it to him.  Then I heard his phone ring. He give it back to me and I smile.

"It's late I guess I'll see you around," I said. About to open the door but he locked it. "Nah give me a kiss first," he said I smiled rolling my eyes I bent over looking him in the eyes. I unlocked my door kissing his cheek. Then hopping out running away with a little wave. Hearing him chucked at me I went up to my apartment.

Getting inside I locked all my locks before stripping taking a hot shower. I live in a studio apartment it's small but it's well decorated. I've live here since I was seventeen. I love my little home it's just me and I don't let people in my home. Ever.

If I have a boyfriend I meet them outside. It's safer and its good with keeping bad energy out. Taking a hot shower before washing the gel out my hair. I put on my robe laying on my couch turning on the tv. I watched for while before I got a message to my phone.

Ace💙: don't run from me ma I love the chase
I laughed
Me: go home and get some sleep Apollo
Ace💙: next time I want a real kiss
Me: I don't know where your mouth been
Ace💙: you'll find out soon enough get some sleep melody

I smiled and didn't reply turning off my tv and plugging in my nightlight.  Taking my meditation before going into a dreamless slumber.
