Goodbye Doesn't Mean Forgetting: Part 30

Start from the beginning

"As ready as I'll ever be" I said, putting my hand in his.

We walked down the small pathway to the beach and then ended up on the walkway on the sand. We crossed it, walking down to the sea. Hand in hand, the waves crashed against our feet, wetting the bottom of my dress but I didnt care. The wind blew my hair and the smell of the sea was lovely.  I had one hand in JJ's and the other hand carrying my sandals.  As we walked, we talked, laughed and remenicsed about the old times when we were younger. We walked for miles, the converstaion flowing, occasionally being pushed into the sea by JJ and having a little bit of a water fight. I ran after him when he kicked water over me, but it always ended up him picking me up spinning me around in the water. We played hide and seek around the palm trees, running around like two big kids. I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend than JJ. Our journey came to an end when we came to the rock. The rock, as it was known, was the best place to see the sun set. The red, pink, yellow and purple coloured sky surrounded the huge ball of fire waving goodbye to us as it set down below the horiazon. We sat on the rock, my knees scrunched up and my head rested on JJ's shoulder, the wind still blowing through my hair. It was so peaceful until JJ became a little uneasy.

"What's wrong JJ?" I asked, moving my head away from his shoulder.

"I love you you know" JJ said.

"I love you too baby" I giggled.

"No I mean...."

"What do you mean?"

"I....I....I...." His face was going red and he was getting very very nervous.

"JJ What?"

"I...I guess what I'm trying to say is......"

Carefully he fiddled around in his pocket, pulling out a small box. My heart started to beat faster, was this really happening? He opened the box to reveal a perfect diamond ring, the crystals glistening in the sunlight.

"Oh JJ...."

"I guess what I'm trying to say is..."

"Is?"

"Will you do me the honours, of becoming my wife" He asked.

I looked at him and felt the tears stinging my eyes.

"Oh JJ....yes....YES" I said, jumping up and hugging him tightly.

He put his arms around me, spinning me around. I put my hand out, it shaking a little as he slipped the ring onto my finger. I held it up to the sunlight, the diamonds glistening.

"It's perfect JJ" I said, pressing my lips against his.

We watched the sunset go down, looking around at the gorgeous sky. When the sun had waved it's final goodbye, we headed back to the villa, hand in hand, my ring on show.

We opened the door laughing and joking.

"Where have you been?" Asked Jaymi as we walked into the living room.

"Meg! Where did you get that ring?" Asked Ella.

"Erm..."

"Do you wanna say?" Asked JJ.

"Together?"

"We're engaged" we said, together.

The whole room erupted into joys of laughter. Ella came running up to me hugging me tightly admiring the ring. Olly had already started to plan how he was going to style my hair. The other boys congratulated JJ.

"He finally did it then?" George said, coming up to me hugging me tightly.

"You knew?" I asked.

"Of course, I had to calm him down, he was scared you'd say no"

I felt JJ's warm hands around me.

"Like I'd say no to you" I said, kissing him on the cheek.

That night, JJ and I stood on our balcony whilst everyone was lay in bed. We looked out on the village and the bright  lights along the beach, hearing the waves.

"I can't wait to make you Mrs Meg Hamblett"

"I can't wait to be Mrs Meg Hamblett"

"I love you"

"I love you too" I replied.

On our last day of the holiday, we went on a cycle ride around the village, JJ and I holding hands as we cycled down the narrow streets. Then it was time to go home. As we all departed from the plane arriving back in the UK, the wind blew my summer hat of my head. Running down the steps, the group of us chased my hat around the airport until JJ caught it and placed it back on my head, pulling my hair forward and giving me a gentle kiss. Then we all went out seperate ways. Hugging each other in the airport and cuddling, we thanked Jaymi and Olly for an amazing holiday and then made our way home. This had been one of the best holidays of my life.
