If things had been different, Rick wouldn't have ever even thought about coming back to the prison without Carol. When Finn came out to see them he saw Rick get out of the car by himself. No Carol, "Is she dead?" Finn asked, immediately thinking the worst
Rick shook his head, "No. I sent her away."
"Why?"
"She killed Karen and David." Rick said bluntly, Finn had to do a double take to completely hear what Rick was saying, Carol. Carol Peltier killed two people? "She thought it would stop the illness."
He didn't expect the killer to be Carol. He thought of both Daryl and Michonne, even Tyler and Olivia came to mind,
"Are you sure it was her? That doesn't sound like Carol." Finn asked
Rick sighed and said, "Look, Tyreese is gonna be back here soon. So I didn't think she should be here, and I also couldn't have her here." Rick explained, "She has a car, supplies, she'll figure it out. Don't tell anyone else yet."
Finn nodded, "Okay."
"I did it for my family, for you. So everyone else can be safe." Rick looked at Finn, "Would have brought her back?"
"She said she did it?" Finn asked and Rick nodded, "Then you were right to send her away. I don't know if I could have."
"You could've, Finn. You've done harder things. Don't doubt yourself. We don't get to anymore." Rick said, as much as he didn't want the answer just in case it was bad news he had to ask, "How's Liv?"
Finn paused before he looked at Rick, "Not great, but she's alive. So that's something."
