𝟓𝟕. 𝐀𝐫𝐠𝐮𝐞

As the weeks passed by, Seth, Jacob, Leah, and Embry managed a good relationship with the Cullens. They took turns to take care of Mack, who was weaker everyday.

Emmett pays attention to what happens in the forest, walking from side to side by the window while Jacob, Rosalie, Bella, and Edward watch over Mack, who is sleeping. The girl has a hand over her belly, covered by the quilt her mother gave her in Jacksonville. Emmett stops walking, noticing three wolves watching over the house.

-I'll be right back. - Edward leans down to kiss his wife's forehead before exiting the living room and head to the library.

There, he finds Alice, Jasper, Esme, and Carlisle. The first youngest couple reads a book, and the oldest checks something on the computer. Edward sits infront of his laptop to start investigating legends that say something that may help Mack.

Immortal children.

Demons.

Vampire child.

Edward closes his laptop, catching his siblings' and parents' attention. Without saying anything, he gets out of the library to return with his wife, who finds herself sleeping.

At first thing in the morning of the following day, Esme exits the house, holding four sandwiches for Leah, Jacob, and Seth. Being behind them, Seth approaches her, smiling.

-Thanks. I was starving already. - He thanks, making Esme smile tenderly.

Seth starts eating the delicious sandwich that the woman made, who extends a sandwich towards Leah.

-Not hungry, thanks. - Leah turns around and looks back at the forest.

-Well, I do want it. - Seth grabs the sandwich with a smile.

Esme chuckles before giving the last two sandwiches to Jacob and Embry, who grab them with half a smile.

-Thanks. - Embry half-smiles at the woman.

-Tell me if you need anything. - She sincerely says. - Leah, if you want something to eat, just tell me. I'll make anything you want.

The three boys look at the girl, who looks down.

-Thank you, Esme. - Leah thanks.

Esme half-smiles at the werewolves before turning around, and walk back to her house.

-Stop being so cold, she makes us food. She even treats us better than Sam. - Seth says with his mouth full.

Embry starts eating, but Jacob approaches Seth to snatch the other sandwich, ignoring his complains, giving it to Leah.

-I don't wanna hear your complains about your hunger. I don't think it's poisoned. - Jacob smiles by seeing her grab the sandwich.

The girl takes a bite, and sighs unwillingly, showing her satisfaction of finally eating something.

Carlisle and Edward stare at Mackenzie's rib radiography in the library.

-Your rib is cracked. - Carlisle looks back at Mack, who keeps laying down on the hospital bed infront of both men. - There are no splinters, at least. You haven't puntured anything.

-Yet. - Edward looks at his wife, who manages to hear with her look down.

-Edward. - The man warns.

-It's breaking your bones, Mack. It's crushing you from the inside out. - The girl looks at her husband, who stares at her, disappointed. - Carlisle, tell her what you told me.

-Carlisle, you can tell me. - Mack half-smiles at the man.

The Cullen father approaches her, gathering the correct words to say to her.

-The fetus isn't compatible with your body. It's too strong. It won't allow you to get the nutrition you need. It's starving you. I can't stop it or slow it down. - Mack feels a knot in her throat after hearing the man's words. - At this point, your heart will give you before you can deliver. - The girl sighs before responding. She tries not letting the tears in her eyes out, so she taker her time to reply. - Mack, there are some confidtions that even venom can't overcome. - Mackenzie slowly nods, biting her lower lip. - You understand? I'm so sorry.

Carlisle lean down to kiss her forehead before exiting the library to leave the couple alone.

-Love, I'm sorry. I... - Edward looks away from his wife given that it hurts him to see her like that.

-I can't live without you. - He whispers, not wanting to accept reality.

-But you will have a part of me. It'll need you. - She whispers, rubbing her belly. - Love, everything will be alright... I-I will be okay along with the baby. Nothing bad will happen.

-Do you really think I could love it or even tolerate it if it killed you? - Edward looks back at his wife.

-I-It's not his fault. Y-You have to accept it for what it is. - Mack begs with a broken voice and having some tears on her cheeks.

-I won't accept it if I lose you! - The vampire exclaimes, without being able to hold back anymore. The girl looks down with pain in her chest. - We agreed to have it, but you will die! You'll give up your live for the baby! Mackenzie, we were gonna share everything! But you've decided to leave me.

-D-Don't see it that way, love. - Mackenzie cries.

-Well, I have no other way to see it, because we will have the baby, but you won't be by my side anymore. I won't see you anymore. - The girl sees how her husband looks at her, devastated before turning around and approach the door.

-E-Edward... - The guy ignores her, and exits the library, slaming the door shut, starting her.

Mackenzie starts crying if desperation, feeling how her baby moves, who feels just like his mother.

-Y-Your father just... - Mack clears her throat while rubbing her belly. - Your father needs time. He love you with his whole heart, but it scared about the idea of losing me. Don't worry, my darling. Everything will be okay.

Mackenzie keeps crying, trying to calm her baby down. The girl lets out a sob, which all the vampires in the house manage to hear. Edward stays in the living room, walking from side to side, trying to imagine a life without his wife, but he just can't. He does want the baby, but with Mack by his side.

🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨

The baby won't be a boy because it'll fit better in the next Edward Cullen translated story, so it's gonna be a girl.

IT WILL NOT BE NAMED RENESMEE. IT'S LITERALLY THE WORST NAME I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE GODDAMN LIFE. MEYER WAS OUT OF HER MOTHERFUCKING MIND WHEN SHE CHOSE THAT NAME.
