"Maybe...just a little"
"Georgey why don't you ask her to go out tomorrow, for a drink or a walk or something"
"She'd say no Meg, I'm always rejected"
"You'll never know unless you try"
"Nah Meg...Don't dream" he said as he picked up his guitar disheartened and walked out of the room.
The next day was the day of the show. Once again, JJ wasn't there when I woke up the next morning, at rehearsals again. The atmosphere in the hotel was half excitement and half nervousness. Otea came into the boys room, to come and get ready with me. She brought in her favorite dress and I plaited her hair making her look beautiful. Then it was my turn to get ready. I put on my tights, a blue dress along with a knitted cardigan not looking too dressed up but not looking too scruffy. We met JJ's parents in their room and headed over to the arena.
It was packed out with fans of the boys, with banners and t-shirts. They had a bigger fanbase than I thought, I wonder if they knew about JJ and I. Because we were family, we got to enter the arena early. We walked in and took our placed near the stage. I looked around at the stage surrounded by video cameras and looked at all the seats knowing the arena would be packed full in a few minutes. My boyfriend would go from being unknown to being one of the best know contestants in the UK. I knew thousands of girls would fall in love with my four best friends and it scared me a little. The thing I liked about the boys was that they would be grateful for the position that they were in and would remain humble. It was half an hour until showtime. I wondered how the boys were feeling and what they were doing. I pulled out my phone and sent JJ a text "Good Luck Boys! We're watching! I love you". Next thing we knew, the other families had joined us. Olly came and sat next to me, putting his arms around me and kissing me on the cheek. We spent the remainder of the time laughing and giggling about silly things. We were so excited to see the boys. Otea went and sat next to George's little brother Leo. I turned around to see an arena full of people. All of a sudden, the lights dimmed, the music began and the crowd started to scream. Dermot walked on stage doing his dance and introducing the judges. Each act walked on stage, nervously playing with their microphone or smiling for the camera. Then our boys came on. They looked perfect. They had their arms around each other like they were reunited, a true boyband. We watched act after act after act. Ella then came on and I got up shouting and supporting her, she glanced to the side and shot me a big smile. As she walked of the stage she gave me a thumbs up and I gave her one back. Then it came to the boys performance. Their VT started to play and I watched, keeping giggling at the stupid things they were saying. Then Josh walked on, his new hair cut looking very handsome indeed. The music started to play and Jaymi started to sing. They were singing 'Don't stop Me Now". The whole of the families got up screaming, dancing and shouting giving them moral support. They were amazing, absolutely incredible but the judges didn't agree. I could see the smiles on the boys faces turning into frowns. I wanted to go up and hug them all but I knew I couldn't. They trudged off stage, JJ looking around for his family. I screamed and he looked over, giving me a little heart with his hands, I gave him one back.
"You two are so cute" Olly whispered in my ear.
"Not as cute as Jolly"
Olly started to laugh and put his arm around me.
When the night was over and the performances had finished, we headed back to the hotel. The boys had to do some work on the Xtra Factor and we couldn't wait. I entered the hotel room and changed into one of JJ's T-shirts and hoodies. I always stole his clothes. I waited and waited. The atmosphere in the hotel was horrible. Everyone was so nervous, they didn't want to be the first to go. I was absolutely shattered so I decided to go to bed. The boys came in at one in the morning. JJ tiptoed into our room. I felt the bed sink when he sat down. He started to play with my hair.
"You were amazing tonight" I mumbled as I snuggled up into him.
"We know" Said the other boys running in bouncing on me.
I sat up and the all sat on the bed. We then started to talk and laugh at how funny their VT was and who they thought was going to go.
"We're gonna go boys" Jaymi said.
"Stop being so negative" I replied.
"He's right though" JJ added.
"You were amazing, just hope for the best ok! stop doubting yourself, now can I please go back to sleep?"
"Oh yeah sorry babe, night boys"
JJ snuggled into me and the boys left the room.
The atmosphere in the hotel was awkward the next day. I heard the boys talking in the room, when they thought I was in the shower.
"We're going boys, enjoy tonight's performance"
"It's been good I guess..."
"We've got to perform..."
I hated it. Why did they doubt themselves. I could hear them discussing their save me song but I hoped it wouldn't come to that. They left early to go and get ready for the show. I met Olly for a coffee and headed to the arena after with him. We sat in the same seats as last night. Olly Murs and Caroline walked past us, laughing. We asked them for a photo and Olly gave Olly a kiss on the cheek.
"I'll tell Jaymi" Olly said with a wink.
"You dare" Olly teased back.
"Olly come on! Showtime in 15 minutes!" Caroline shouted.
We waved them goodbye and started to take funny photo's on Olly's phone. He put some on Twitter, laughing at the retweets and comments we got on them. Olly got various tweets asking who I was and why I was with him. He just said I was a friend, nothing about mine and JJ's relationship. The lights dimmed and the music began. Showtime. The group performed their single 'Read All About It" and their vocals were on point. Ella looked beautiful. George kept gazing over at her, how I just wished they'd get together. Then came the results. The judges walked out with their acts. Gary with Chris, Carolynne, Kye and Melanie. Nicole with Rylan, Jahmene and James. Tulisa with Ella, Lucy and Jade. Finally Louis with Union J, District 3 and MK1.
"Quiet in the audience" Dermot asked.
Olly grabbed my hand tightly, crossing our fingers, our heads down. I couldn't bare to look at the boys. I squeezed my eyes shut. Each name was read out, one after the other, but still not our boys. I felt the tears stinging my eyes. As each act was announced the crowd screamed.
"ELLA" Dermot shouted.
I let out a little sigh and clapped Ella, I was so proud she was through. There were three acts left. Carolynne, Rylan and the boys.Olly grabbed my hand, as tightly as ever.
"The final act to go through to next week is....."
The pause was the longest pause of my life. I just wanted to scream at him to hurry up and read the result out.
"UNION J...."
The whole of the family erupted, including the boys on stage. JJ picked George up spinning him around. Jaymi hugged Louis and Josh fell to the floor. Meanwhile, Olly grabbed hold of me and spun me around. Crying his eyes out. We ran straight back stage. I ran immediately to JJ jumping on him, him grabbing me and kissing me on the cheek. Jaymi picked me up onto his back and ran me around back stage screaming that they were through. I ran up to Ella and congratulated her, she gave me a really big hug and thanked me for some of her support.
I was leaving again tomorrow with JJ and his family. I didn't want to. I love it here with JJ and the boys. But I knew a goodbye was coming, everything always ended with a goodbye and I'd be seeing him again soon.
