"I'll tell you what we'll do, I'll come with you. I won't meet him with you, obviously because that will just be awkward but I'll sit on the other side of the cafe, if he doesn't show up then you come and sit with me ok?"
"You'd do that, for me?"
"I'll do anything for my second daughter"
I giggled and went in for a cuddle. I honestly treat his mum like my own mother.
I could hear the sound of my phone ringing in my ear. I leaned over, banging the switch to the light beside my bed. I could hear my phone vibrating. Who in the right mind would call me at 2 O'Clock in the morning. I answered the call.
"Hello?" I said sleepily.
"Did I wake you?" Asked JJ.
"Yupp"
"I'm sorry baby"
"It's ok, What's wrong?"
"I'm just missing you"
"JJ Go to bed" Said a voice in the background.
"Shush Josh!" JJ replied as I heard the sound of the pillow wafting over Josh's head, I giggled
"So what's happened today?" I asked.
"Well we've been doing rehearsals for the show on Saturday, I wish you were coming"
"I do too, but I'll be watching here cheering you along"
"My mum said that you'd had a reply from your Dad"
"Yes!! Oh my gosh JJ you don't understand how much it means"
"and..."
"I'M MEETING HIM TOMORROW!" I said excitedly. I could hear JJ laughing down the phone.
"Are you nervous?"
"A little bit, but your mum's coming as a back up so it's all good"
"Just make sure she doesn't embarrass you, please..."
"I will" I said laughing.
"JJ GO TO BED" Josh said grumpily.
"Tell Mr Grumpy he can have you to go to bed now" I said.
"I'm sorry, he's tired, I'll speak to you tomorrow yeah?"
"Of course, Goodnight, I love you"
"I love you too" he replied.
The phone went down. I turned my pillow over and settled back down. I love having late night conversations with JJ, even if we did have grumpy Josh in the background.
I woke up the next morning to my daily routine. Waking Otea up, making her breakfast and taking her to school but today wasn't like any other day, today was the day I was meeting my Dad for the very first time. I walked Otea to school, got a kiss on the cheek as a goodbye and headed home. When I got back to the house, JJ's Dad was walking down the stairs.
"Morning Meg"
"Good Morning!" I said, cheerily.
He ruffled my hair and went into the kitchen. I made my way upstairs, opened the wardrobe doors and tried to find something more than a jeans and a hoodie of which I had taken Otea to school wearing. I tried on about 20 different outfits but it either looked like I was making too much of an effort or too scruffy. Finally, I settled on a pair of jeans with my jumper, a scarf, a coat and my beanie hat that I had stolen from George ages ago. I plugged the straighteners in and whilst they were warming up I applied a small amount of make up, I wanted to look as natural as possible. I then straightened my hair and I was ready to go. As I walked down the stairs, JJ's mum greeted me.
