Annabeth's POV

'Percy! Excited?' I asked.
'Nervous,' he admitted.
'Don't be, you'll do great,' I pecked his cheek.

We were at the Olympics. Round one.

'When do you start?' I asked.
'Tomorrow morning,'
I squealed. 'You can do this!'
'I don't trust myself.'
'Well, then, start trusting yourself.'

--

Percy started swimming.

Come on... you can do this... I thought.

He swam amazingly, with strokes that surprised me, then somebody sat next to me.

Luke.

'Um...' I shifted.
'Why are you here?'
'I'm here to see my friend win the Olympics.'
'Which is unlikely,'
'Dream on, he's gonna win.' I muttered and shifted further away.
'You are way more than friends,'
'For the hundredth time, I am not dating him.'
'I warn-'
'Enough with your warnings!'

I got fed up and switched my seats.

Percy's POV

I came out of the water. The judges stared at me.

10.

10.

10.

'A perfect score!' I heard a faint voice yell amongst thousands of people.

I actually won. I was on to the second round. Wow.

--

Annabeth came running up to me as soon as I was done and kissed me.

'You...did...amazing!' she squealed. 'You are going to bring me to tears.' she wiped her eyes and gave a quivering laugh.
'Thanks for believing in me, Wise Girl. Now, if you don't mind, I have to go change, unless you'd rather follow me.'

Annabeth shook her head and gestured me to go.

Annabeth's POV

Luke was outside. Oh damn.

'Had a nice time kissing Mr. Jackson?'
'I have no clue what you speak of!' I said deniably.

Luke scoffed.

'I knew it,' he sighed. 'I have to take extreme measures. My revolver waits.'
'WHAT DO YOU WANT?!' I screamed as I thought of the worst that could happen.
'I want,' Luke said angrily. 'I want you to live the most miserable life in the world - you and that Jackson.'
'Dream on!' I cried. 'I-'
'You don't even deserve to be alive.' he sighed. 'One day... if I see you at the Olympics tomorrow...'

--

'I can't do this to Percy,' I said to myself.
'You have to,' I said to myself again.
'No, I don't,'
'Yes you do,'
'I hate you,'
'You can't hate yourself.'

I was right. I can't hate me. I was also wrong, I have to. So I was right as well.

I'm never having a conversation with myself again.

'I have to,' I told myself firmly.

Outside, I may look strong and just. I may look like I know what I'm doing, and I'm OK with it.

On the inside, I was dying. It was the end.

'I'm back!' Percy yelled.
'Percy... I-'
'Celebrate at my house?'
'Yeah sure,' I said. 'As friends.'
'Ok...what?'
'Percy...I-I think we should break up...'

Percy's POV

What was wrong with Annabeth. What did I do? Was it my jokes?

'Why?' I asked, trying to sound calm.

Annabeth's POV

'I can't be with you Percy.'
'Why not? Annabeth?'
'You'll understand. Now leave me alone - forget I exist!'

I walk away and stop for a second. My phone pinged. A text from Percy:

You're making it very hard to forget that you exist, Wise Girl - P

I run away crying

Percy

She cried. She cried - because of me. She ran away.

'Annabeth-!'
'Percy!' my Mom came up to me. 'I'm so happ-'
'Not now, Mom,' I said dryly. 'Let's just go back - I don't want to compete anymore.'

Hi. Bye.

P.S: Don't kill me
