"Agent Leeds?"

"Yessir?"

"You're being assigned undercover to Operation 89."

Agent Leeds did his best to keep his face blank.

"Yessir."

"You'll be stationed at Midtown Tech to keep an eye on the surrounding area and see if any of the Queens adolescents have any information that could aid the operation."

"Yessir."

"Here's your mission file, Agent."

"If I may, sir..."

"Go ahead, Agent."

"Why am I being posted on this operation? I'm barely qualified."

"Leeds... I'm sure you're aware that your parents were given missions within this operation."

"Yes, sir."

"They ran into some... complications. I'm sorry, agent. They will forever be remembered as valuable members of SHIELD."

Agent Leeds blinked to keep the tears at bay and kept his head high. "Thank you, sir."

The commander surveyed him sadly.

"Dismissed."

A few days later, 'Ned' waited by the reception area for his timetable. He'd been trained at SHIELD facilities since birth, and as well as a mission, this was his first opportunity to experience high school like a regular kid. If only he could go back to the house that would be his home for the duration of the mission and tell his real parents about his day, instead of sharing the space with two adult agents working on other missions in the vicinity. He hadn't met them yet, wasn't even allowed to know any details about their missions or which operation they were working on. He didn't even know their real names, only their code names for this mission that had been in his file - Angela and Richard Leeds.

"Here you go sweetheart," the receptionist said, handing over a stack of papers. Ned thanked him and used the map to find his way to the first class. The door was open and several people were already inside. Ned paused by the doorway to take in his surroundings before moving into the room, making sure to keep his mission objectives at the forefront of his mind. Blend in, form contacts. A pale-skinned boy with brown hair was sat near the back of the room, obscured by the crowd of people around him. They seemed to be laughing as they moved away. He was popular, then. Time to introduce himself.

"Hello!" Ned greeted cheerfully, slipping into the carefree, jovial persona he'd created based on his SHIELD school Society Studies. His goal was to make people feel comfortable around him, more willing to spill their secrets. "I'm Ned, I'm new here."

"Hi Ned," the boy smiled. "I'm Peter, welcome to Midtown!"

Ned smiled blandly. Conversation. Peter turned to look at something on his phone. He needed to keep the conversation going-

"I'm really sorry," Ned said. "What class is this again? I was so busy trying to find the right room that I didn't even check," he gave an awkward chuckle and a sheepish smile. Peter smiled warmly.

"No problem, this is Literature."

"Oh, cool, thanks. Do you like Lit?"

"It's alright, I guess, but I'm more into science. How about you?"

"I like anything to do with computers," Ned said. "I do a bit of coding in my free time." Truth and lie, truth and lie. Just like he'd been taught.

"Oh, that's cool! You'll have to show me someday. Hey, do you mind if I see your timetable? Just to check to see which classes we have together."
