Chapter 12

Rey's POV:

I wake up hearing a gun shot, then I open my eyes and see a stormtrooper standing there.
"What do you want now bucket brain." I say in an annoyed tone.

"Bucket brain? I didn't think I was that stupid." The stormtrooper said taking off his mask to reveal Poe.

"Poe!" I say in a delightful but weak voice.

"I gotta get you out of here." Poe says quickly walking over to me to unlatch the restraints.

Before I can say anything he hits the button and I fall to the ground.
"I forgot to tell you, I can't walk. I say looking at him for a reaction.

"Wha? How? What happened?" He said with a sad but angry look on his face.

I show him the back of my leg and say,
"Ren." I say simply.
Poe just nods and I grab his hands and he lifts me to my feet. He puts my arm over his shoulder as we walk out of the room. Poe shakes his head,
"This is going to take too long" He says picking me up bridal style, and starting to run.

"Hey what are you doing?" I say surprised by his actions.

"It's going to take too long if you walk." He says while jogging down the hallway.

      In what seems like 20 minuets watching Poe, turn down hallways right and left we finally make it back to the ship.  Poe sprints with me into the ship, and asks the solider next to him.
      "Is everyone here?"

      "I think so. I counted twenty one that's how many we started out with." He says.

      Poe places me down on a bench and says to me softly,
      "I'll be back." As he looks into my eyes and I look back.

      I nod and he runs off quickly to the cock pit. I felt safe, when I looked into Poe's dark brown eyes when I think about him, how he kept his promise and I felt comforted when he was holding me, what feels like so long ago, and after a while of thinking I fall asleep. My sleep didn't last that long though, after a while i feel a stabbing sensation in my leg. The first thing that comes to my mind is kylo Cutting my leg with his lightsaber. My mind turns on like a switch and I start screaming
"You really have to do this three times kylo!" As I sit up but strong arms hold me down.

I open my eyes and see Poe holding me down saying,
"You have to stay still Rey. I know it hurts but you have to stay still."

I don't say anything I look into Poe's eyes and lay back down. I feel them on my leg the thing that hurt the most.
"Man what happened Rey? This cut is really deep it's almost cutting your achilles tendon in half!" A guy says who I suspect is working on my leg.

Kylo Ren and his lightsaber" I say

Then an even worse pain I scream out in pain moving my leg around trying to make it stop. Once again Poe holds me down. This time he strokes my hair and I grab his hand, and look back into his eyes. I lay back down as the agonizing pain starts again. I flinch and squeeze Poe's hand. He keeps stroking my hair, until the pain leaves me and I fall asleep Poe by my side.
      I wake up opening up my eyes slowly, my whole my body aching. I start to move around opening my eyes. I see a woman standing there writing things down on a clip board. She looks over to sees im awake smiles and says,
"Glad to have you back Rey, I'm just taking your vitals right now. Poe told me to contact him when you woke up, is that ok?" She asks sweetly

I nod but before she leaves I ask
"Can I see my leg?"

"Sure honey," she says taking off my covers.

I look at it wrapped in many bandages but and it looked bigger than usual. I looked at her confused and she explains,
"We has to work on it, There was a lot of dead and burnt tissue. We saved as much as we could, and in a few months you should be almost back to normal. The swelling is normal and should go down in a couple of days." She says
I nod and she walks out of the room. Minutes pass, I look back down at my leg will it ever be the same? Thoughts go through my head, what if they have to cut it off? What if I never walk again? What if I have to use crutches or a cane to walk? Then I hear a knock at the door. I cover my leg back up and Poe walks in the room. He smiles when we sees me. He walks over to sit in the chair right next to me.
"How ya doin Rey?" He says in a friendly tone.

"You know, could be doing better." I say jokingly.

"How's your leg" He asks in more of a quiet tone.

"Eh, ok I guess but I can't really see it too many bandages." I say making eye contact.

"Can I see it?" He asks in a polite and understanding tone.

"If you really want to." I say

I pull off the Corner of my covers to reveal my injured leg. Poe looks at it and says,
      "It looks better than it did on the ship." Poe says

      I nod as he turns back to face me and I cover my leg back up. We make eye contact again just sitting there. Finally I break the stare
      "Why did you come back for me? I'm just a solider like everyone else out there." I say in a broken voice

      "Your not just like any other solider Rey, not to anybody, and especially not to me." He says in a softly

      "Why because I'm a girl?" She says annoyed.

      "No, because your Rey, the one that was found on Jakku, that helped BB8 get back to the Resistance, the one that had a lightsaber duel with Kylo Ren. That Rey." He says in a mesmerizing tone.

      "Anyone probably could've done the things I did." I say

      "Not as well as you did though." He says smiling as I look back into his eyes.

      "Rey, I came back for you for a reason. I, I have feelings for you Rey, not just little feelings big feelings for you." He says grabbing my hand.

      "I do too Poe," I say making eye contact with him.

      We stare into each other's eyes as we get closer together. Until Poe leans in and out lips touch, we stay there our kiss deepens until I finally pull away. Resting our foreheads on each other. I hear a beeping sound and realize it's Poe's mission planner. Poe says,
      "See you later." He gives me one last kiss. Let's go of my hand and o watch him walk out of the door.
