"Oh Penelope! My beautiful majestic queen, what do you want for lunch?" I asked Garcia before leaving.
"Ooh can you get me one of those sandwiches from Nancy's?"
"I sure can."
"Thank you, my love." She smiled as I left the room and headed for my desk. I noticed that everyone but Spencer had left for lunch already.
"Hey Reid, you wanna come with me to get lunch for Garcia and I? I'll even get you something if you want."
"No thanks. I'm going through the Mendez case. I just want to make sure I understand everything."
I grabbed the file out of his hands. "It won't hurt to take a small break. Plus, you'll be no help of you pass out from lack of food." I reasoned.
"Okay. But no more than an hour."
"Alrighty." I smiled and we went to my car.
"I have some Lysol and hand sanitizer in my glove department in case you need some."
"You just carry around Lysol and hand sanitizer?"
"Yeah. In case you're ever in here. I know you have a thing about germs. I assure you I keep my car clean."
I couldn't figure out the exact emotion he was feeling, but his eyes brows scrunched together a bit and he had a little smile on his face.
He didn't spray the Lysol but he did put on the hand sanitizer.
"Have you ever been to Nancy's?"
"Yeah. I usually get the Caesar salad or the BLT. Did you know that they're all organic?"
"I did. That's why I love them. They're BLAT is astronomical. It's just a BLT with avocado."
"I might have to try that."
"It's so good. It's my favorite thing ever."
We arrived and ordered 3 BLAT to go, and there was a military couple waiting behind us. The ordering station and paying station were in two different spots.
"Hey, can I pay for their order too?"
"Of course. Their total is $23.48." I handed her my card, paid, got our food, and left.
"How come you didn't talk to them?" Reid asked.
"I didn't want them to know it was me. My mom taught me to always thank the military, whether it's with words or a kind gesture. My grandfather was in the military."
"I can pay you back for my sandwich if it's too much."
I smiled and continued driving. "Don't worry about it. I still owe you for taking care of me after JJ's wedding."
"You were so drunk. I didn't trust anyone else to properly take care of you."
"And I can't thank you enough."
We continued talking and arrived at the BAU. I dropped off Penelope's food and went back to my desk.
"We have a suspect that needs to be interrogated. You two are the only ones available at the moment. Do you mind?" Hotch asked
"Sure. Who is it?"
"Parker Young. He's a suspect in the Mendez case."
"How do we approach the situation?"
"However you see fit." Hotch led reid and I to the room he was being held and we went in.
"Hello Mr.Young. Do you know why you're here?" Reid asked first.
"Yes. And I'm not a killer."
"You're not? Because your record shows multiple animal abuse charges including the killing of a horse. We're cats and dogs getting too boring?"
"That was an accident." He got upset.
"Slicing a horse's stomach open is not an accident. It's murder."
"You're one of those animal rights people aren't you." He scoffed.
"Do I believe animals have the right to live on their own planet? Of course."
"Mr. young, did you know Chris Mendez?" Reid jumped in.
"He worked at adventech with me a few years ago. Haven't seen or talked to him since."
"Did you notice anybody that may have had a hatred for Mr. Mendez? A coworker or boss?" Reid continued.
"No. But our boss Susie and him were hooking up. I know it. I caught them once. She had a husband. Which is exactly why coworkers shouldn't date." He seemed extra mad about the Susie situation.
I knew immediately where Reid and I were going with the interrogation.
"I don't know. Dr. Reid and I have been dating for almost three years now and we make it work." I held his hand.
"You two are together?" He scoffed. "Yeah right. You are way out of his league."
"Excuse you. But I'd much rather have the smart, hot, respectful guy than the dirty, rude, animal killing guy. And I'm sure Susie did too."
"Susie and I were only coworkers." He shifted in his seat. Liar.
"You were jealous of Susie and Chris, which is why you killed him. Am I getting close?"
"I didn't kill him."
"You slit his stomach open, just like you did to that horse, and probably a whole bunch of other animals too!"
"HE TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME!" He yelled and stood up angrily. Reid and I both stood up and he drew his gun while I got the handcuffs.
I read him his rights as two other agents escorted him out.
Reid and I went back out to our desks, where we saw the rest of the team minus Garcia.
"When you were talking to that guy and you were standing up for me. Did you mean all that?"
"Of course I did. Who wouldn't want you?"
"Opposed to him I'm the obvious choice."
"You're the obvious choice in general Spencer." I smiled and sat at my desk.
Morgan came over and sat on my desk while Reid talked to JJ.
"You have a crush on pretty boy." He smiled.
"For a group of profilers it took y'all long enough to realize."
"Oh I've realized, shortcake. We all have. So why haven't you snatched him up yet?"
"After Maeve I just wanted him to be comfortable and go at his own pace. I'll tell him When he's ready."
"How will you know when he's ready if you don't ask?"
"He'll be ready when he stops getting that look in his eyes every time she's brought up, or every time we pass by someone that looks like her."
"I haven't seen that look in months, y/n."
"Me neither. But I'm scared that he's just gotten better at hiding it. And if I say something it'll bring everything up again."
"Look. I bet you $10 him and JJ are over there talking about the same thing. He's moved on y/n. You're just too scared it'll make things weird."
I looked over at him talking to JJ. He looked at me then back at her.
"I know what you're thinking," Emily came up behind me.
"There's no way you know what I'm thinking."
"Do it. You'll regret it if you don't."
I sighed. I saw Reid walking towards the elevator so I stood up and followed him. "Oh she's actually doing it." Emily followed me as well as the others.
I walked out the door and passed Garcia.
"Hey Spence, wait up." I jogged a little faster as he pushed the button for the elevator.
"You going down?"
"Uh, no. Actually. I was talking to Morgan and Emily-"
"I saw." He smiled slightly.
"-and they said I should do something before I regret not doing it."
"Is this going where I think it's going?"
"If you have to ask then I'm pretty sure you already know. Is that okay?"
"That's better than okay." We both smiled.
"Okay. Cool." I blushed and got really nervous.
"Are you gonna do it?" He chuckled after a few seconds.
"I think I'm paralyzed with anxiety."
"Do you want me to do it?" He smiled.
"Please."
He smiled brighter and cupped my face with his hands, bringing his lips onto mine. I unfroze after a few seconds and kissed back, wrapping my arms around his neck.
We heard some cheers from behind us so we separated.
"Pretty boy for the win!" Derek said happily.
"I think you guys are the first official relationship at the BAU." JJ smiled.
"Are we?" I asked Spencer.
"We are." He smiled and put his arm around me.
