Riley's P.O.V.
I was stuck with the task of babysitting the kids while the adults were at some meeting at the Rift.
Maddy and Elise were SUPPOSED to be helping me but they were too busy talking and laughing on the phone in the other other room with Elise's new boyfriend as I sat in the living-room with the kids.
And no, River was not aware that Elise had a boyfriend. She made me promise that I wouldn't tell him.
Meanwhile I was forced to listen to Jenna complain about how Elise and Maddy were excluding her from everything as I fed Meadow.
"And its like just because I'm 13 they feel as if I'm not old enough to hang out with them!" She exclaimed. "Elise and I always used to hang out before Maddy came but now here I am, stuck in here with obnoxious boys and two stupid babies."
"We didn't ask for you to come in here." Grayson retaliated.
"Shut up Grayson." She shot back.
"Don't get mad at him because he's being honest." Rome replied. "Its not our fault you have a pissy attitude."
"Girls are confusing." Said Logan.
"Yet intriguing creatures." Benji added.
"Did you just call me a creature?" She asked.
"I did indeed." Benji smugly stated.
"I'm not a creature."
"Well according to Webster's dictionary, the definition of a creature is anything created whether animate or inanimate. You were in fact created therefore, yes you are."
"No I'm not."
"But you are."
"I'm not!"
"Oh my god Jenna just accept the fact that you're a fucking creature and shutup already!" Rome snapped causing me to chuckle.
"Rome.... You've gotta chill with the bad words." I told him.
"Sorry. Its just hard to study while Jenna's going on a bitching rampage."
Rome and Gray were still being homeschooled (for good reasons too because their mouths were only getting worse) but they were learning crap that was way more advanced than what was normal for their age. I'll admit, River taught them well.
"I think its because she has nothing better to do." Said Logan.
"Can you please tell them to stop?" She asked me.
"You brought this on yourself." I replied.
"You're a horrible babysitter."
"Well I don't even like kids so is that really surprising?"
I kid you not as soon as I said I don't like kids Kaiser, who was playing with Logan, turned his head and glared straight at me.
Logan and Benji had already been enrolled in the elementary school a few blocks away.
Jenna was in the middle school and Maddy, Elise, and I were enrolled in the high school not too far past the elementary school.
That's where Elise met her new boyfriend.
The guy was a rich, preppy, idiot. In fact everyone at that school were rich, preppy, idiots. Elise only liked him because he was hot.
And then most of them spoke French 95% of the time which we barely knew.
Since River's been busy helping Rome and Gray with their homeschooling, Giovanni, the butler, has been teaching us French.
It was a slow process but we were getting the hang of it.
Kai and Meadow were even starting to learn it.
Well they weren't speaking it yet but they some what understood basic words.
Legend called me an idiot in French a few days ago and Kai laughed.
Of course I felt offended.
"Riley, Kevin is coming over for a bit, just letting you know." Said Elise as she ran towards the front door.
"You didn't think to tell me that before he actually showed up?" I asked.
"No because I knew you'd be against it."
"Um.... I still am."
"Hi babe!" She exclaimed as she opened the door.
I looked at Maddy and made a gagging expression.
She giggled and sat next to me as Elise walked into the living-room with Kevin.
"So Kevin you already know Riley and Madison." She began. "But this is Roman, Grayson, Jenna, Logan, Benji, Kai and Meadow. Guys this is my boyfriend Kevin."
"Ooo I'm telling dad you have a boyfriend." Grayson threatened.
"No you wont." Elise stated.
"Yep. I'm snitching."
"You could've done a lot better Elise." Rome said.
"Rome don't be mean, you just met the guy."
"And I already don't like him he seems- snotty."
"I assure you I am not snotty." Kevin chuckled.
"Nah, you're pretty snotty." I responded.
"No, Riley, I'm not. At all."
"Is that why you decided to wear a polo sweater vest over here even though its 8 at night?"
"Yes, I decided to wear something casual."
"A polo sweater vest is casual to you?"
"Is it not casual to you?"
"Oh my god you really are snotty." Rome retorted.
"Did you know that Ralph Lauren changed his last name to Lauren when he was 16?" Asked Benji.
"Dude is there anything you dont know?" Asked Logan.
"How evolution is an actual theory. I mean, it can't be right. There are sooo many errors. Take the human eye for example, its designed perfectly for our needs and every single part of it is vital for proper functioning. To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, is absurd!"
We all stared at him in confusion and shock.
"Did you- a 10 year old- really just question evolution?" Asked Maddy.
"Yes. It doesn't add up completely. The only possible way for it to be true is if there is a stage within evolution that has yet to be discovered such as a species that was overlooked or a catastrophic event that we never knew about."
"Okay I'm done studying." Said Rome. "My mind is fried."
"Mine was fried as soon as he said the word evolution." Grayson added. "I'd rather go back to making fun of Kenneth."
Its Kevin." Elise corrected.
"Same difference."
Suddenly the doorbell rang.
"Elise you can't just invite everyone over. Did you forget that we're grounded?" I mentioned.
"I didn't invite anyone else over."
"Shall I get the door?" Asked Giovanni.
"I got it." I insisted.
I handed Meadow to Maddy then went to see who was at the door.
I opened it and was faced with a man in all black with black combat boots.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"A friend of Carlisle." He said as he walked around me and came inside.
"Um... He's not here at the moment." I stated.
"I know." He replied as he walked into the living-room.
As soon as Benji saw him he jumped up in a panic.
"You okay?" Asked Logan.
Benji just stared at the guy, frozen in place as the guy stared back.
"Benji what's wrong?" Asked Maddy.
"That's-" He stopped when the man smiled.
"Go ahead, tell them Benjiman." The man insisted.
Benji gulped then finished his sentence.
"That's Peter."

"My father's going to kill me." Said Kevin. "Well, that's assuming I make it out of here alive."
"Dont worry." Peter insisted. "I'm not after you kids. Or your butler. I wont hurt you."
He made all of us, including Giovanni, sit on the couches.
"How do you know that's him?" I asked Benji who was next to me.
"Because I saw him the day he first attacked the safehouse."
"So as my lovely little friend Benjiman said earlier, I'm Peter." Peter stated.
"So you're the asshole all the grownups have been freaking out about?" Asked Rome.
"I am. Why?"
"We just thought you'd look a bit more intimidating." Grayson answered. "You just look like a guy who's in the middle of a mid-life crisis."
"River's kids?" Peter asked me.
I nodded my head yes.
"I figured."
"Why are you here?" Elise asked.
"Oh nothing major. I just want Kaiser."
"What?" She questioned.
"I saiiiiid I want Kaiser." He repeated.
"You're not getting him." I retorted.
"You're gonna try to stop me?" He chuckled. "With a broken leg?"
"My fists still work."
"You're a bold kid. In fact all of you are very bold. Its a bit surprising. But dont let your boldness fool you into thinking you can stop me."
"They can't..." Said Giovanni. "But I can."
Before any of us could even react, Giovanni flew off of the couch and went Bruce Lee on Peter.
Like I'm not even kidding.
That man was fighting as if he'd personally went head to head with fucking Bruce Lee before.
Unfortunately Peter got the upperhand and pinned Gio to the ground with his knee im his back.
"You aren't strong enough to take me down." Peter said to him. "Nice effort though."
He took one last look at all of us and smiled.
"I'll be back." He stated as he walked out of the living-room and soon out of the house.
"We're gonna die." Maddy mumbled.
