We entered the mall which was nearly empty since it was so early. But that was a good thing because I hated crowded places...and people.
"Hey Riley." River began. "Would you mind taking Grayson to a couple of stores in here and getting him more clothes? He barely brought any with him and the ones that he did bring are just...no."
"Yeah sure I'll take him." Riley replied while taking Grayson's hand.
"Thanks." River stated as he pulled out his credit card and handed it to Riley. "You're welcome to get yourself something if you want." He added.
Of course Riley wasn't gonna turn down an offer like that- which could lead to something bad.
"You do realize he's gonna max out your card right? He's literally going to spend every cent of your money." Xander warned.
"Oh no, I have a limit on that card that prevents anyone from using more than $1000 in one day." River confidentally replied. "After $1000 they have to put in a code to keep using it."
"Bet he's still gonna find a way to spend it all." Jordan mumbled under his breath.
We went up to the 2nd floor and followed River into a kid's store full of toys.
"Seriously River? Aren't you a little too old to be playing with toys?" Aj asked.
"Dude... I'm getting some for Grayson. Christmas is in 5 days and judging by the way his mom acts, she didn't get him anything and doesn't plan to." River solemnly replied.
"So you're buying him clothes, shoes, AND toys?!" Aj said with a bit of shock implemented in his voice. "I'm so jealous of him right now."
We helped River find a huge load of toys and helped him carry them back to the truck before we went back inside to continue our shopping. He seriously spent over $700 on just toys for Grayson. Yes, $700 over a kid he just met.
We went from store to store grabbing things. Aj and Jordan went to help out Riley with finding Grayson clothes and shoes. Meanwhile, Max, River, Xander and I came upon a jewelry store. Xander and Max wanted to buy our moms something.
I spotted an absolutely gorgeous diamond necklace on display when we were browsing.
"Oh...my...god. That's beautiful!!" I yelled. "Xander can you get it for me?!?! Pleeeease!?!?!"
Xander, Max, and River all came over to see what I was talking about.
"Hm, how much is it?" He grabbed the price tag, took one look at it, and started laughing. "I don't think so." He stated.
I took a look at the price as well and my jaw dropped.
"$23,000?! I really didn't know it was that expensive, however, I'd be extremely happy if you bought it still." I said with the biggest puppy eyes ever.
"Cassidy I'm buying Mom something right now and I'm almost positive that whatever I get won't be cheap judging by these prices." He replied as he begin browsing again. I was a bit upset at first but eventually got over it. After all, you can't have everything.
Xander ended up getting our mom a beautiful ring and even got my dad a really nice watch. Max got his mom a pair of gorgeous earrings.
We met up with the others about 2 hours later and went up to the food court to eat.
The food was good and everyone was pretty relaxed (probably because we were all still in our PJ's) and we basically just sat there talking for about an hour. Although the talking soon turned into an uncomfortable argument between me and the one and only, Mr. River *whatever his middle name is* Carson.
It started when a girl walked passed River and as she did, she slid a piece of paper that had her number written on it onto his lap.
"He's taken, sorry." I told her as she walked away. I didn't say it out of jealousy, I simply said it because it was the truth and I wasn't gonna let the asshole play with the poor girl's feelings knowing he had a girlfriend.
"Ignore her. I'll call you later." River said to the girl. She smiled at him and walked away.
I looked at him in disgust.
"You're such a man whore." I stated while rolling my eyes.
"Who said I was gonna bang her?" He questioned as he stared at me.
"You didn't have to say it. I already know you're going to. That's kinda what you do." I responded with a bit of an attitude.
"Why does it matter to you?" He asked.
Was this guy serious? God, what's wrong with him.
"Because you have a girlfriend and you shouldn't be taking girl's numbers and telling them that you're gonna call them! That's considered cheating!" I shot back.
"And your point is....? If I cheat then that's my problem not yours. I can't help the fact that my overly good looks attract women to me." He slyly stated.
"You're so damn arrogant and a pig. I can't believe you're actually gonna call her." I said not realizing how jealous I sounded.
"Oh, I see what's happening. You still like me." He replied with that infamous smirk.
"I like you? That's funny because I don't actually. In fact, I never even liked you in the first place. I was just going through a phase." I bluntly said, obviously lying.
"Damn." He began. "That hurts...but it's alright because quite frankly, I don't like you either."
"Good." I said. "And wow did that really hurt? Thats a surprise...I didn't think you had a heart."
"Ha, funny huh? Well you see, I had a heart once, but it got broken by a pretty little lady like yourself a a while back." He replied.
"Good for her. She dodged a bullet."
"She was a lot like you. Overdramatic, fiesty, but we clicked you know."
"Thought you didn't like me?" I asked, annoyed.
"Trust me, I don't. But I still think you're gorgeous." He stated still smirking at me.
"Trusting you is the last thing I'll ever do, asshole."
"Hm, smart girl. Sucks that all of that intelligence is spent on calling me out everytime I even look at a girl. Jealousy isn't healthy Cassidy."
"For the last time, I'm not jealous! I dont care that you flirt with girls 24/7 even though you're in a relationship with someone who's not even that pretty."
Okay, after that I knew I was jealous because in all honesty his girlfriend was an absolute babe. I wasn't telling him that though.
"Wow that's low, even for you." He said. "What, you want me to dump her and be with you?"
He grinned and I wanted to punch him in the throat. He thought everything was a game and hardly took anything serious.
"Why would I want a cheating, conniving, lying, arrogant, douchebag like you?" I asked.
"You forgot manipulative." He remarked. " And well because you wanted me three months ago even though you knew I was those things."
"Burn in hell." I replied.
"Gladly. You gonna meet me down there or should we meet halfway and walk through the gates hand in hand?" He asked. "We can rule hell together. We can even get married. After all, the bride of Satan suits you well."
Before I could respond I found my fist being thrown at his face. Unfortunately he caught it and started smiling.
"What size ring do you wear? I might even get little devil horns engraved on it."
"A 6." I threw another punch at him but of course he grabbed that fist too. "What hell are you? A fucking boxing champ?" I asked.
"Eh, close enough. So are you gonna stop trying to hit me or should I expect more attempts from your aggressive ass?"
"Fuck you." I stated as I snatched my hands away from him and sat back down in my chair.
"You're beautiful you know." He said. "You're a little shit, but you're still beautiful."
I loudly groaned. He was literally the most confusing person I'd ever met. It was like he was flirting but he didn't like me. Not like I cared though, I didn't want him to like me...because I hated him...with a passion.
"Why aren't you telling him to stop?!" I yelled at Xander.
"He hasn't hurt you has he?" Xander asked.
"No..." I replied.
"Okay then. There's no reason for me to tell him to stop."
After our little argument we ignored each other for the rest of the day and to be honest it was a little awkward.
We all ended up staying at the mall until 8 pm...which was about 12 hours.
What'd we do within those 12 hours? Everything. The mall had a movie theatre so we watched two movies then went to eat...again. After that we continued our shopping. At one point I spotted a man dressed up as Santa who was letting kids take pictures with him so of course I convinced the guys to let Grayson go and take a pic with Santa. And when I tell you the line was long, THE LINE WAS LONG. It took us about an hour and a half to actually get to the front of the line. But it was worth it, Grayson was so excited when he saw Santa. It was the cutest thing ever....did I mention we were all STILL in our pajamas?
We left after taking pics and headed back home aware of the fact that my dad was gonna flip out when he found out we stole his suv.
And boy was I right.
As soon as we walked into the door he was already waiting on the living room couch.
"You guys wanna tell me why you took my truck without asking?" He calmly asked.
We all looked at eachother but no one said a word.
"Xander? Cassidy? Riley?" He called our names out waiting for one of us to answer.
"Uh- I was a victim of all of this. Cassidy and Xander made me take your keys, Jordan and River helped, and Aj, Max, and the kid watched." Riley snitched as he ran up to his room to avoid my dad's yelling. We all glared at Riley as he ran upstairs and I'm pretty sure we were all thinking the same thing: he's dead.
"Cassidy I'm extremely disappointed in you but I'm even more disappointed in you Alexander. You're supposed to be setting examples of what to do not what NOT to do!"
"And you two as well!" My mom added in as she looked at Max and Jordan. "I'm just as disappointed in you two, Maxwell and Jordan! You both are like sons to my husband and I and the fact that you all took the vehicle without our permission is very upsetting."
"Sorry Christina." J and Max said apologetically to my mom. After our lecture by my parents, we went and took showers, put back on another set of PJ's (since it was around 9 pm already) and Max, River, and Gray came back over to have dinner with us. When I tell you that sitting at that table that night was dreadful...I meant it. It was DREADFUL. And I have a list of reasons why.
For one, no one talked for the first few minutes causing an awkward moment of silence between everyone at the table. Two, my mom and dad were still mad at us so that made it even worse. Three, we all kept making weird eye contact with eachother. And four, which was by far the worst, my dad actually wanted to get to know AJ and River so after he finished questioning AJ, he moved onto River.
"So, River right? Are you originally from Minnesota?"
"No sir." River answered. "I was born in France...moved to America when I was 7."
"Wow you're French?!" Riley interrupted with a truly interested look printed on his face. I could tell he was extremely curious by the way he started bouncing his knee up and down. "So if you're French...then where's your accent??"
River laughed then sat his silverware down. "I get asked that question a lot. You see, when we first moved here I had a very strong French accent but as I got older my accent began to fade."
Of course that wasn't enough for Riley's enthusiasm.
"So why'd you move to America?" He asked.
"Well, back in France, my father was the owner of a major sport scouting agency and sporting agencies from the U.S., Canada, and even Brazil, began offering him jobs after seeing how successful he was. He ultimately ended up choosing the job here in America and is now the owner of the Minnesota Vikings."
Riley's jaw dropped.
"Your dad is Elliot Carson?!?!? Wow Cassidy, I can't believe you let him get away."
I quickly turned my head to face Riley and gave him a warning look as I mumbled: "Shut....up."
"Let him get away? What's Riley talking about?" My dad curiously asked as he now sat straight up in his seat and moved his eyes between River and I.
"Oh Cassidy didn't tell you? Her and River had a thing for eachother." He stated once again.
"Riley shut up! You don't even know what you're talking about!" I yelled across the table.
"Yes I do! Come on Cassidy, you know I'd find out eventually. I figured it all out at the mall. You both used to like each other...and you still do."
When he said that I almost flipped the table over.
"I don't like him what are you talking about!" I argued.
"Cassie, I may be dumb but I'm not blind. You like him and he clearly likes you." He stated even more annoyingly.
"No way. My days of hoping to have a chance with her are over." River bluntly said.
I was taken back at that. Did he really just say what I think he said?
"A- a chance...with me?" I stuttered while trying to remain unphased about it but it obviously didnt work.
He nodded his head yes. "Well of course I wanted a chance with you. I thought it was pretty obvious but...I guess not."
I grunted and rolled my eyes. "Yeah, a chance to get in my pants."
My dad and a few other people at the table choked on their food after hearing that. It was kinda funny actually.
"So is he a fuck boy Cassidy?" Riley asked while laughing.
"Yes...yes...he...is." I stated while maintaing eye contact with River who looked like he was about to explode. I knew I had some type of leverage over him which made me feel absolutely great. I couldn't help but smile. Sure it was a little mean but whatever. He deserved it.
