7 hours had already passed, yet AJ, Max, and Lindsay were still here. I'd insisted that they leave but they all straight up refused. Their reason, you ask? Well, as AJ put it; "I just wanna make sure this Legend dude isn't a fuck boy."
I was in my room trying to decide what to wear. I didn't wanna wear anything too typical because, after all, I was going on a date but then again I didn't wanna wear anything too flashy either- it'd probably make him think I was stuck up or something. After tons of thought I finally decided to just go with something casual. I put on a black pair of skinny jeans, a white t shirt, a dark red cardigan, and my red vans. Lindsay curled my hair enough to make it look wavy and gave me just a touch of make up. Just as she was finishing I heard a knock at the front door. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 6:06. I also saw that I had three missed calls. I grabbed my phone and shoulder-purse and walked to the front door. I opened it and was greeted by a smiling Legend. Though I was a bit shocked when I saw what he was wearing...we were basically matching. He had on a white T-shirt with a dark red thin jacket, black pants, and red vans.
"Wow, were you stalking me?" I joked.
"Nope, but I have to admit, you've got style girl." He said with a smirk that made me blush a little. "Oh, and I tried calling you by the way, though you didn't answer so I thought I'd just come up here."
"Yea sorry about that, I was still getting ready...so, ready to go?" I asked about to head out the door until I heard AJ's voice.
"Nuh-uh. Not so fast. Open the door all the way so I can see the guy."
I rolled my eyes and completely opened the door. I looked at AJ to see if he was satisfied yet so that we could leave but I caught him giving Legend a sinister glare.
"This is awkward...." Max mumbled under his breath.
"What?" I asked.
Max simply replied with, "Oh nothing, have fun."
I also noticed that Legend was sort of avoiding eye contact with him but I didn't question it.
"Can I go now?" I asked a bit frustratingly.
Jordan stood up and made his way towards Legend and I. "Sure." He said. "After I lay down some ground rules first."
"Ooooof course." I groaned.
"Lay em down bud." Legend playfully replied.
"Three things. 1. Have her home by 12:30. 2. Don't touch her at all unless you're giving her a hug. Scratch that- don't touch her at all. And 3. Don't piss her off because if you piss her off it'll piss me off-"
"And me." AJ cut in.
"And we'll be after your ass." Jordan finished.
"I'll definitely take that advice into consideration." Legend responded.
I couldn't help but laugh. I shook my head and grabbed Legend's arm pulling him out of the door.
"Nice friends you've got there." He said with an amused tone.
"Yep. Nice they are. Dont worry though, you'll get used to them." I replied as we laughed and made our way to his truck. As soon as we buckled our seat belts he turned to me with his hand on the steering wheel.
"So, where do you wanna go?" He asked.
"Doesn't matter." I really didn't care where we went as long as I got to see his gorgeous face.
He smiled and stared at me. "I had a feeling you'd say that." He adjusted his body in his seat and started driving.
"So where are we going?" I asked curiously.
"I'm gonna take you shopping." He replied with a sly smirk on his face.
"Wait, really? Legend you don't have to do that. I get a bit crazy when I go shopping and end up trying to buy the whole store." I laughed.
"I'm taking you shopping...and that's final....plus, money's not really a problem for me so I don't mind spoiling." He said with a wink.
"Oh so what you're saying is that you're crazy rich?" I playfully replied. "Tell me more."
"Well, my mom's Reese Witherspoon's personal assistant and my dad's the owner of the Minnesota Vikings...so yeah, we typically don't have problems when it comes to money."
I knew he was trying not to brag, but was clearly failing. Although, I found it kinda cute.
Eventually, we pulled up to the mall. When we got inside Legend stopped out of no where and looked around.
"So, where to first?" I asked.
He pulled out his credit card and a devilish smirk formed on his face. "Doesn't matter. Hell, I'll buy the whole mall if its what you want."
I giggled and tried to hide my blushing face.
"How about we grab a smoothie from the smoothie shop first?" I suggested. He nodded his head and we made our way to the stand. I ordered a mango-kiwi smoothie while he ordered a strawberry-banana one. We sat at a booth in a corner of the shop basically hidden from everyone. He stared at me as I drank my smoothie and I couldn't help but smile. His eyes were mesmerizing.
"Tell me a bit about yourself Cassidy." He prompted while setting his drink down.
"What do you wanna know?" I asked.
"Everything. Your family life, how are your parents? Any siblings? Where are you from? Tell me about your friends. Anything really."
I pondered for a moment, a bit fascinated that he actually wanted to get to know me and my life.
"Well..." I began." I grew up in a small town in Colorado. My dad is a neurosurgeon and my mom's a lawyer. I have three brothers- my brother Xander is 29 and my younger brother Riley is 16. I have another brother, Daniel, who's 32 but I hardly ever see him. And to be honest, though I'd never admit this to them, my brothers are my everything. The guy that you tackled earlier, Jordan, is my best friend. We've known each other since the day I was born. Fun fact: we were only born a week apart. Lindsay is the girl that went off on you earlier. I met her at an airport when we were on our way here to Minnesota. AJ was the other guy that threatened you when we were in my apartment. I met him the first week Jordan and I moved here. Then there's my brother Xander's best friend, Max, although I consider Max my big brother too. For the past 2 almost 3 years he's watched over me, AJ, Jordan, and Lindsay and without him...we'd probably be locked up in some jail somewhere." Legend chuckled and looked at me with a stern yet calm look on his face.
"So what about you?" I asked as he took a sip of his smoothie.
"Hm...let's see." He pondered for a moment before answering.
"I'm not originally from Minnesota either. My family's from France but moved to America before I was born. When I was 14 I moved back to France with my grandparents and lived there until like, two days ago. I literally just got back to America. My parents are great though I never really got the chance to spend a lot of time with them when I was growing up because they were always so busy with their jobs. I have an older brother and an older sister. My sister is adopted and is 3 years older than me. Since she was the only girl she got spoiled a lot as a kid and usually got away with everything. She's a huge drama queen as well. My older brother and I were really close. We still are. To be honest, I kinda look up to him. Like I said, growing up was hard for me because my parents were hardly ever home. My brother basically raised me for the first ten years of my life. Without him, I honestly don't think I'd be sitting here with you right now. And since I was the youngest both of my siblings loved to embarrass me. They still do but it doesn't bother me anymore. And even though my parents are unbelievably rich, I didn't really experience a happy childhood."
I felt bad for him. I really did. I've always had a soft spot for unhappy kids. But as I looked at Legend, I didn't see what used to be an unhappy kid. I saw a guy that lived a happy childhood. A guy with a perfect life. But hey- looks can be deceiving.
"So what do you like to do? Your interests?" I asked noticing that he looked a bit uneasy.
"Uh- yea. Yes. I actually moved back here because I got a scholarship from the university to play football. I'm gonna be the starting quarterback when the season starts again." The cutest smile ever formed on his face. I could tell that this was something he's really passionate about.
"That's awesome!" I exclaimed. "Jordan- the guy you tackled earlier- is a starting wide receiver on the team. Looks like you two will get to know each other more after all." I laughed replaying the moment when Legend tackled Jordan in my head.
We drank the last of our smoothies and left the smoothie shop. I looked around the huge mall at the many stores calling my name.
"Where to first sweetheart?" Legend asked as he looked down at me with a grin.
"Let's try American Eagle." I suggested.
"As you wish my lady."
I laughed at how dorky he was.
We went to store after store after store just shopping away. At first I was the only one getting things but I convinced him to get a few things for himself. After about 2 hours of shopping I decided to call it a day. Legend had already spent over $500 on me and even though I highly appreciated it, I didn't want him to think I was taking advantage of him.
We made our way out of the mall and headed across the parking lot to his truck as he spoke.
"So...my parents are having dinner over at their place as a welcome home event for me tonight. It actually started an hour ago and I was wondering if you'd like to come with me. Its just gonna be my parents, my brother, and my sister there. Don't feel pressured though, I know this is only the first date so you don't have to if you don't want to. I just figured I'd at least feed you before I take you home"
I nodded my head yes and smiled because I was kinda happy that he already wanted me to meet his family.
"Sweet!" He replied.
Twenty minutes later we pulled up to a house and parked. No, scratch that, we pulled up to a MANSION.
"Whoa!! Dude is this your parents house?!" I yelled as I ran up to it to get a closer look. The place was huge!!! I heard him walking up behind me quietly giggling to himself.
"Yes, this is my parent's house. Nice huh?"
"Veeeeery nice!" I responded.
We walked up to the front door and he rang the doorbell. The doorbell made a tune as it rang. A song if you will.
Legend laughed. "Does the doorbell intrigue you as well?"
I nodded my head like an idiot as I looked at him.
The door clicked and opened revealing a tall (very handsome I might add) man with black hair. He had on a sky blue dress shirt with khaki pants. He grinned when he saw me. I almost gasped...he looked so much like Legend.
The man held out his hand and as I was reaching out to shake it he grabbed my hand and planted a kiss on it.
"I'm Elliot." He said.
I'm not gonna lie...I blushed a little.
"I'm Cassidy." I replied as he let go of my hand. "Are you Legend's brother?" I asked curiously. That made him and Legend laugh.
"Wow do I really look that young? No, I'm his father." He stated with the same exact smirk on his face that Legend had.
I felt shocked...completely shocked. Elliot didn't even look old enough to have a 20 year old son! I waited for him and Legend to finish greeting each other then we went inside.
A gorgeous blonde lady came into the living room who I assumed was Legend's sister until she kissed his forehead and said "Welcome home my sweet baby." Thats when I knew she was his mom. I kept thinking to myself "Dude, how are these people your parents?"
My thoughts vanished as his mom stepped over to me and hugged me. "Hello there, I'm Gabriela, and you are?"
"Cassidy." I smiled.
"Well it's nice to meet you Cassidy. Why don't you two come into the kitchen so you can meet the rest of the family. Plus, dinner's ready." She said as she made her way to the kitchen. Legend and I followed her but he abruptly stopped me.
"I just wanna warn you about my siblings before you meet them. My sister's a drama queen and extremely outspoken. And my brother can be a bit of a jerk at times so if he is, don't feel offended."
I nodded my head saying I understood and we entered the kitchen.
As soon as we did I almost had a heart attack. Sitting at the table was a brunette girl and the one and only, River.
His phone dropped out of his hand and hit the ground when he saw me. We made eye contact for what seemed like forever.
"Cassidy, this is my sister Journey and my brother River." Legend said through the awkward silence.
My mouth still hung open as I stared at River. Although his shocked expression quickly left his face.
"Close your mouth before you catch a fly." River stated. He looked angry...a bit upset.
"River that's not how you talk to a guest." Gabriela said.
"Whatever." River mumbled.
Legend's sister, Journey, decided to jump in on the fun.
"I'm sure Legend will be seeing that facial expression on her again later tonight." Journey winked.
Elliot choked on his water and almost spit it out. A smirk spread on River's face as he highfived Journey. Gabriela simply looked at the two with her eyes wide open and Legend was blushing extremely hard.
"How about we eat now." Elliot said clearly trying to change the subject.
We sat around the table which had one chair on each end and two chairs on each side. Gabriela and Elliot sat on each end while Legend and I sat across from Journey and River. River was directly across from me.
We said grace and started eating. Gabriela had made a French dish that consisted of a meat I can't quite pronounce and sides that I couldn't pronounce either. We ate in silence for a while which was perfectly fine with me. I wanted to keep from talking to River for as long as I could.
"So Cassidy, are you originally from here or no?" Elliot asked breaking the silence.
"Uh, no sir. I'm from Colorado." I stated with a smile trying to be as polite as possible.
"Any siblings?" He asked.
"Yes. Three brothers."
"Older or younger?"
"Both. My oldest brother is 32, my other one is 29 and my younger brother is 16."
"You don't have any boy problems do you?" Journey jumped in and asked.
"I'm sorry? I don't know what you mean." I said genuinely confused.
"Well, you seem to have an interest in my brother Legend and I just want to make sure you don't have any guys trying to get in your pants." She replied.
"Journey!" Elliot said a bit surprised. "Don't ask her things like that honey."
"Hell, I'd fuck her." River stated.
"RIVER!!!!!!" Mr and Mrs. Carson yelled at the same time completely shocked.
"In a heartbeat." River continued.
Journey nearly fell out of her chair laughing.
Elliott even cracked a small smile.
"Dude! What the hell's wrong with you?!" Legend fumed.
That evil smile formed on River's face again as he looked up from his plate and gave me a wink. I paid closer attention to his smirk and realized that he had the exact same smirk Legend had. You could easily tell that they were brothers. How did I not see this coming?
"Watch your mouth young man!" Gabriela fumed as she threw her napkin at River.
"It's fine." I stated. "I know he was just kidding."
"That's a damn lie." He responded.
I gave him a huge death stare warning him to shut up. He noticed it and his smile grew even bigger.
"If looks could kill I'd be dead right about now." He said.
"How about you have some respect and not say things like that!" I snapped, much to everyone's surprise.
He stopped laughing but the smirk stayed on his face. He got up from the table and began to walk upstairs. However, not before he turned around and continued talking.
"Sweetheart, you don't scare me."
I felt like exploding but I was afraid that if I did I'd say something that I wasn't supposed to say and everyone would know that River and I knew each other. I simply watched him go upstairs while he whistled and I rolled my eyes.
This guy was ridiculous. But a part of me liked it- a lot.
