Chapter 22: Inheritance

"If only I could do something like that." Max fantasized. It really looked really cool.

Max sidestepped the man and slashed his sword at him again. But this time it seems the man was prepared. He jumped up and descended towards Max with his foot out. Max was going to get stomped by the massive man.

Max immediately rolled out of the way only to hear a massive explosion where he last stood. Max shuddered at the thought of him being in the explosion.

"This creature is sturdy..." Max thought.

His opponent was strong. The only thing it lacked was speed. Luckily for Max, he had many different speed based abilities. Seeing the man's weakness, Max activated all of them at once. Previously he was like an old rusty car, but now, he was like a well oiled supercar. He could easily cross the entire level's area in less than 5 minutes.

Max was covered in flames, electricity, golden wings and a bony armour, he looked like a god. The man seeing Max's new form felt a little intimidated. Max gave the man no chance to recover or escape.

He appeared before the man and did a vertical slash. The man could feel a sense of foreboding and decided to dodge to his left. To his horror, Max's slash cleanly sliced through the man's left arm.

Max continued attacking the man and soon his armour broke and he was covered in wounds. The man stood no chance at all.

"It's called an Ice Titan. Interesting I guess?" Max thought.

Max walked towards the corpse of the Ice Titan. He was hoping to get something cool like before but sadly nothing happened. Max watched as the body faded away. It seems like all monsters in the ruins seem to disappear after being killed.

"Damn it! I forgot to retrieve it's ki core!" Max said.

He shrugged the thought aside and decided to look around.

"Maybe I'll find something." Max hoped.

Max walked to the center of the level. He was hoping there was a treasure somewhere. He had the idea of checking the statue's previous position. Max shifted through the broken ice and found a hole in the ground. It had a ladder leading down to the bottom of the hole. Max descended the ladder and was greeted to a small hallway. Max walked to the end of the hallway and could see a small blue podium.

He approached the podium and could see a book with a blue cover and a silver stone on it.

"What is this?" Max thought.

Max took the book and his system rang out immediately.

[Ding! Found Ice Grimoire!]

[Improves Ice skills' strength and teaches new skills.]

[Teaches user skill: Ice Control if the user doesn't have any ice skills.]

Seeing the Grimoire, Max drooled. His thoughts went back to the Ice Titan's ability where it created an armour out of ice. He could finally do that. Max decided to keep the Grimoire in his ring at the moment.

He climbed up the ladder and went back to the snowy area.

"Are there any other treasures?" Max thought.

He walked on the noisy snow covering the ground. He was looking for more treasures. That's when he saw it. The Ice Titan's corpse has long dissolved, however, it seemed to have left something. It was a small blue pulsing orb. It was the size of a small marble. Max took it from the ground and the system immediately rang out.
