Chapter 49: Thrill

Meghan Ferren's POV

"Do you wanna have some thrill?" biglaang tanong ko kay Adrien at napatingin siya sa akin. It's almost 2 in the afternoon and we've been on the road for hours now.

"Really? Thrill? Hindi pa ba thrill sa'yo na hindi natin alam kung saan tayo papunta ngayon?" tanong niya at natawa ako. I looked out the window and suddenly thought of something.

"Do you wanna have car sex?" tanong ko na ikinalaki ng mga mata niya at natawa ulit ako. He's so cute. We've had sex last night for hours and he still gets shy around me.

"Meghan, that's-"

"Joke lang. I was thinking of a different thrill," sabi ko sa kaniya at napatingin siya sa akin. Being in the car with him like this actually makes me a bit nostalgic dahil dito kami unang nagkita.

"What kind of thrill are you thinking of?" nagtatakang tanong niya at napangiti ako while staring at him drive. "Ikamamatay ko ba 'yang thrill na 'yan?"

"You're overreacting," natatawang sabi ko sa kaniya at napangiti nalang din siya. "I know a place. I'll give you directions na lang when we get out of this highway. Para surprise," sabi ko habang inilalabas 'yong phone ko sa sling bag.

I smiled to myself nang makita na we're less than an hour away from one. Mahaba-haba pa iyong kalsada na dinadaanan namin ngayon kaya itinabi ko na muna iyong phone ko.

"You love surprising me, don't you?" he asked, making me smile. "Pero nakakatakot 'yong mga surprise mo eh. The first one was when you suddenly appeared in front of my car, looking like a ghost. The second time, was when I just got beaten up. And now the third surprise was us running away."

"Ang saya nga eh. I'm sure your boring life don't get that many plot twists in just a few months," sabi ko at napangiti siya. "Speaking of boring, why the fuck is your phone wallpaper on default?" I asked, making him look embarrassed.

"I don't know what to put as my wallpaper. I'm not a fan of art or whatever people usually put on their phones," aniya at kinuha ko 'yong phone niya.

"You can put my face as your wallpapers," mahinang sabi ko at nagsimulang magpicture. "You can also put our picture if you want," dagdag ko at sinama siya sa picture.

He smiled at the camera, making me chuckle. He looks so cute. I pouted my lips, acting like I'm gonna kiss him, and clicked the camera.

"Isa pa! Isa pa!" mabilis na sabi ko pagkatapos ng isang picture. I moved closer to him and kissed his right cheek, and took a picture. Excited akong bumalik sa pagkaka-upo ko at tiningnan 'yong picture. "Oh my god, you look so cute in here!"

"I look... weird," nahihiyang sabi niya nang makita iyong picture. Nanlaki 'yong mga mata niya sa picture, looking shock dahil sa biglaang paghalik ko sa kaniya and I think it's the cutest. "You look pretty."

"I know," sagot ko na ikinatawa niya.

I went back to taking pictures of myself, making different poses. Natatawa ako habang tinitingnan iyong mga picture ko na nakawacky. I kind of feel like he'll delete all my pictures later dahil sa sobrang gulo at pangit ko sa mga pictures. The thought of it makes me chuckle.

Bumalik 'yong tingin ko sa phone ko nang bigla itong tumunog.

I felt my heartbeat getting faster, because the last time someone texted me, I almost got kidnapped. And the second to the last time, was when Ross told me he knows where I am.

Natatakot na ako kapag tumutunog iyong phone ko.

Adrien noticed that I was getting nervous. "Are you okay?" tanong niya sa akin at agad akong umiling. "Do you want me to check it instead?"

Napatingin ako sa kaniya at hindi na napigilang ngumiti. That's so sweet of him.

"Yes, please," sagot ko at dahan-dahan niyang kinuha iyong phone ko.

He turned it on and entered my passcode. Naramdaman kong nanlalamig iyong mga kamay ko dahil sa kaba. I wish it's nothing bad. I wanna run away from all the bullshit in my life.

Napakunot-noo siya habang nagbabasa sa phone ko, at nakaramdam ako ng pagtataka.

"What is it? Sino iyong nagmessage?" tanong ko sa kaniya at inabot niya sa akin 'yong phone ko.

"Don't worry. It's just Jaden," aniya at tinuon na 'yong atensiyon sa kalsada.

Jaden? Why would he suddenly message me?

After our last conversation, he said he'll take a break from everything at nawala na lang siya bigla. He didn't even tell me where he's going. I don't even know if he attended his classes.

Tumunog ulit 'yong phone ko nang sunod-sunod at agad kong kinuha ito sa kamay ni Adrien at tiningnan 'yong message niya.

I felt my heart skip a beat after reading his message. Magulo iyong pagta-type niya, dahil siguro sabi niya ay lasing siya. He doesn't really drink that much para malasing. I felt my heart ache as I read his messages over and over again.

I feel so guilty for choosing Adrien over him. I chose someone I just met over someone I've known for years.

I didn't know what to reply, kaya dahan-dahan ko nalang ibinaba iyong phone ko at tumingin nalang sa labas ng bintana. Adrien noticed that I chose not to respond to Jaden's message, but he didn't ask anything.

Parehas kaming napatingin sa phone ko nang muli itong tumunog.

I didn't know what to say. I don't know if I should stop him, because after a whole lifetime, he's starting to like someone else, but he's liking her because of me. And that's just fucking wrong.

In-off ko iyong notifications ng phone ko at itinago na 'yon sa bag.

To distract myself from seeing Jaden's messages, I looked out the window and realized we're getting close to the end of this long highway. Naisip ko iyong pupuntahan namin and couldn't help but feel sad. Jaden liked going to those kinds of places too, kahit matatakutin siya.

"It won't take us an hour bago makarating sa pupuntahan natin," bulong ko kay Adrien at mukha naman siyang nagtaka. "Are you excited?"

"I don't know if I should be excited," aniya na ikinatawa ko. I turned to face him, and suddenly felt the urge to kiss him. "You suck at surprising me," sabi niya na ikinatawa ko. "Do you think I'll like it?"

"I don't know, but it's one of my favorite places."
