Chapter 17: October

Adrien Rives's POV

4:32 PM

It's now October. It has been almost a month since I last saw Meghan. Ever since that night, I haven't slept nor eaten well. I spent almost every night looking for her.

Hanggang ngayon, hindi parin ako tumitigil. I don't think I'm in love with her. Parang ang imposible. I only saw her twice. Pero hindi ko rin kayang sabihin sa sarili ko na wala akong nararamdaman para sakanya.

I'm infront of my laptop right now, searching for her name. I found Rhys's Facebook account pero wala si Meghan dun. Wala rin sa IG or Twitter. Hindi active si Rhys sa social media. He posted a photo two days ago, after one month na nasa isang club siya.

Meghan is really nowhere to be found. Nakakabaliw.

I search for her name everyday, after studying when I get home. Naghihintay ako baka may magpost ng picture niya or something and mention her name. I know it's almost impossible, pero ito nalang yung magagawa ko.

I miss her. I wish I can talk to someone about her, but I can't. My parents went on a business trip the night Meghan left, kaya hindi ko na kinailangang magrason sakanila on why I look like shit.

My brother helped me out, para gumaling agad yung mga pasa ko at magmukha naman akong tao. I tried to tell Ash, pero naisip ko na baka balikan siya ni Rhys pag nalaman niya yung nangyari sa akin.

I wanna kiss her again. I miss her so much. Tatanungin ko sana si Rhys, pero kung hindi ko nga alam kung asan si Meghan, paano pa kaya siya? He said Meghan changed her number.

Nakakabaliw na baka hindi ko na ulit siya makita. She's messing with my mind. She's driving me crazy. My life was so peaceful before I met her. But I can't seem to forget about her. I don't want to.

Sinara ko na yung laptop after an hour of looking for her. Humiga ako sa kama and stared at the ceiling.

I was busy imagining what would happen if I meet Meghan again nang biglang magring yung phone ko. Kanina pa pala nagchachat si Katniss.

"Hey..."

"Katniss. Napatawag ka?" I asked habang umuupo.

"I just wanted to ask kung anong gusto mo gawin sa 3." Sabi niya at nagtaka ako. October 3. That's this Saturday.

"That's two days from now, anong meron?"

"It's um... it's our monthsary." Nahihiyang sabi niya at napapikit ako.

Why is she asking kung ano gusto ko gawin? We aren't a thing. We're still just pretending.

"Do we have to celebrate?" Tanong ko.

"Well, my friends were saying that a man should exert a lot of effort on the very first monthsary." Sabi niya, halatang nalulungkot.

Hay. Sige na nga. Ngayon lang naman. I don't plan to let this go on for long anyway. Ayoko na paabutin sa susunod na monthsary.

"Alright. I'll tell you later what I'll do. Let's pretend that I'm gonna surprise you."

"Thank you sooo much, Adrien! Sigaw niya na tuwang tuwa.

"It's nothing. I gotta go." Sabi ko at inend na yung call.

Hindi ko na matiis. I want to talk to someone about Meghan. Gusto ko ikwento yung mga nangyari.

I want to tell someone how absurd, and chaotic it all was. Gusto ko sabihin sa isang tao kung gaano kaganda si Meghan and tell them how it felt to be someone she wants to kiss.

Tumayo ako at kinuha yung car keys ko. I started calling Ross as I went downstairs.

"Man! Namiss mo 'ko?" Bati niya sakin at napangiti ako.

"We saw each other at class, a while ago." Sabi ko at tumawa siya.

"It's a joke. Loosen up, man."

"Where are you?" Tanong ko habang lumalabas na ng bahay. "I'm on my way there. Umm, wanna drink?"

"The fuck?? Adrien, ikaw ba talaga 'to?" Sigaw niya at natawa nalang ako.

"Yes, it's me. What do you wanna drink?" Napaisip ako na minsan lang naman. It would be nice if I could treat him. "Libre ko na."

Meghan Ferren's POV

4:32 PM

"What do you want for your birthday?" Tanong sa akin ni Jaden habang nagmemake up ako. Birthday ko na nga pala next week... Time goes fast.

I'm going clubbing tonight. Medyo malayo, para mabawasan yung chance na makakasalubong ko si Rhys.

"Normally, I'd want new clothes and shoes. Pero kung ikaw yung magbibigay? Wala. You already did so much for me." I said as I applied some concealer under my eyes.

"Aren't you running out of money? Matagal tagal narin since you left." Tanong niya at umupo sa tabi ko.

"I got a lot of money before I left home." Sabi ko at tumingin sakanya. "And my dad still gives me money." Sabi ko at naglagay naman ng blush-on.

"He didn't continue cancelling your card?"

"Of course. I just had to blackmail him that I'll tell everyone what he did. And also that his daughter is out there, partying and drinking her heart out." Sabi ko at napangiti.

"I'm worried about you, Meghan. Paano kung bigla ka niyang ipakidnap?" Nagaalalang tanong ni Jaden.

"He won't. Because I'll talk. Sasabihin ko sa lahat kung anong klaseng tao siya." Sabi ko at kumuha naman ng eyeshadow. "Okay naman lahat ngayon eh, he told the press that his daughter is studying overseas. He wouldn't want everyone to know that he's a liar and that I am actually fucked up, now that he's getting into politics." Sabi ko habang nagaapply ng eye shadow.

Napabuntong hininga si Jaden at tumayo.

"I'm just worried, but it's better that you're here. I know how much you hate him." Sabi niya at napangiti ako.

"Thank you." Bulong ko at tumango lang siya.

"I'm gonna go change." Sabi niya at lumabas na ng guest room. Sasama siya sa akin ngayong gabi. Nagaalala kasi siya na mahanap ako ni Rhys.

I stared at myself at napaisip kung ano nga bang gusto ko sa birthday ko.

I was thinking of throwing a party, but it changed when something came into my mind.

Kinuha ko yung laptop ni Jaden at nagsearch ng mga pinakamalapit na beaches dito sa amin. The nearest is three hours away. It'll be fun. I've never been on a roadtrip with my friends.

I took out my phone at tinext si Sydney. She's the only real friend I've got, except for Jaden.

[Wanna go to the beach? It's for my birthday next week.]

I sent the message at napangiti. I'm not sure where I really wanna go, but this is my first birthday nang hindi ako kinokontrol ng dad ko.

I want it to be memorable. I love the beach. I love the ocean. It'll be perfect.

When I was young, ang daming pinilit sa akin ng dad ko na matutunan. Sa instruments, some of them are violin, piano, and cello. At tennis, golf, at swimming naman sa sports.

Wala naman akong katalent talent sa lahat ng 'yon. Madami pa siyang ipinilit sa akin pero iisa lang yung naging magaling ako. Swimming.

[Omg kailan? I'm so excited!!!]

Napangiti ako at inisip kung paano ko aayain si Jaden. He'd be glad that I wanna go to the beach.

He was my number one fan noong nagcocompete ako sa swimming competitions when we were in highschool.

I didn't win much, but he told me he thinks I'm the best.
