Chapter 19: Try

Meghan Ferren's POV

"It's your birthday tomorrow, Meghan. Okay na ba mga gamit mo?" Tanong sa akin ni Jaden habang pinapanood ko siya maglagay ng mga damit sa bag niya. Luckily, my birthday is a Saturday.

"Aayusin ko na mamaya." Sabi ko at napatingin siya sa akin.

"We're leaving early and it's already 8 PM, Meghan." Sermon niya sa akin at inirapan ko siya.

"How long will we stay there? Sure ka ba na okay lang sayo yung four days? You'll miss two days of school." Sabi ko at ngumiti siya sa akin as he grabbed my hand.

"Who knows kung kelan tayo makakakuha ulit ng ganitong chance para makapagdecide kung ano gagawin sa birthday mo?" He asked and I frowned. He's right. "Let's make the most out of it." Sabi niya at hinalikan ako sa noo.

I know him. He's such a nerd. Big deal sakanya yung makamiss ng dalawang araw ng klase. I told him na pwede namang bumalik agad kami sa Monday, but he said it would be nice to have a break from school din.

"Alright. Magaayos na rin ako ng gamit ko." Sabi ko at naglakad papunta sa guest room.

I shouldn't stay here at Jaden's place. Masyado na siyang madaming nagawa para sa akin. I don't wanna take advantage of him. Maybe I should leave when we come back from this trip.

Napatingin ako sa room ko dito. Mamimiss ko 'to nang sobra. If I could only stay here, I would. But I don't wanna do that to Jaden. Masyado na akong unfair.

It would just be the three of us tomorrow. Ako, si Jaden, at si Sydney. May gumugulong pangalan sa isip ko na kahit anong pilit ko, ayaw mawala.

I brushed my hair in frustration and grabbed Jaden's laptop. I won't invite him for tomorrow's trip, that's absurd. Nacucurious lang ako kung ano nang ginagawa niya. It just feels right to search for his name, I guess.

Umupo ako at nilapag yung laptop sa table dito sa guest room. I typed his name on Facebook and I felt something in my chest as I read it to myself.

"Adrien Rives." Mahina kong sabi at napairap. "Tangina mo."

Pinindot ko yung search and there, unang una pa sa search results. I clicked his name at tiningnan yung profile niya.

He's in a red shirt and black denims, with a brick wall in the background. Nakaupo siya at nakasimangot. Hanggang sa picture napakasungit niya parin tingnan.

But damn, he looks good. As gorgeous as ever.

Pero mas gwapo sana siya kung hindi siya gago.

Isa lang yung profile photo niya at more than 1k yung reacts. Para sa kasing suplado niya, he's quite famous.

I moved on to his posts. Puro mga tagged lang ng mga kaibigan and family niya. He doesn't post anything. Not even a picture.

I scrolled down and after 5 more tagged posts, I saw something that made me furious.

I clicked the video, it was posted six days ago, Saturday night. The caption says 'Surprise for Katniss!!'. It was posted by a girl named Jamie Sacuezo.

I clicked play at nilakasan yung volume.

"Tara, tara!" Excited na sabi ng isang babae sa video. Nasa loob sila ng bahay at naglalakad. Magulo yung camera.

"She must be studying right now. Masusuprise siya for sure!" Excited na sabi naman nung isa pang babae at parang kinikilig.

"Guys, we're helping Adrien here surprise Katniss for their first monthsary!" Pabulong na sabi nung isa pa sa camera at pagkatapos ay tinapat niya ito kay Adrien. He's holding a bouquet of roses and a giant teddy bear. He just smiled at the camera at kinilig naman yung mga babae.
