Chapter 82

Claire

3 months later....

"O Tristan, one dance. For me?" I said with puppy dog eyes as we sat at the head table waiting for Katie and Todd to arrive. It was like pulling teeth to get Tristan to actually go to Katie's wedding, but after a lot of convincing and some fun on my knees he agreed.

Tristan even decided to fit the bill for the entire venue. It was his way of giving Katie a wedding gift. And with her champagne taste she made sure she got everything she wanted like the entire Castello Di Vicarello hotel in Italy. The hotel was built on a cliff side. It was an upscale all-suite hotel in a 12th-century castle with an outdoor pool and spa. The surrounding area was immersed in the green of southern Tuscany's Maremma hills.

The room buzzed with excited chatter and children ran between the tables in a good natured game of tag. Then the bride and groom entered, applause spread across the room. Todd was in a classic black suite and Katie had changed into a different dress  turn the ball gowns, she walked down the aisle. The creamy sheets of the silk dress slipped onto her shoulders, peppering her body with soft, sensual kisses. Like a lover, it seduced the senses and conveyed with utmost skill the art of pleasing.

There was the scraping of chairs as folks got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way to the head table, smiling and holding hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of baby pink roses and the groom leaned in for a kiss. There were cheers and someone whooped. After a few moments the toastmaster rose from his chair and everyone else sat down. The sound of his teaspoon rapping on the side of his wineglass signalled everyone to silence, except the children who were shushed by their parents.

I leaned over and whispered to Tristan. "I didn't think her father was still going to give a speech". After Tristan took his company. He was pretty much the black sheep of the family. No one wanted anything to do with him. I was still waiting on Tristan to get his revenge. And the longer it took him to exact it More nervous, I became about what he truly had planned for them.

"It's his daughter's wedding if he didn't. There would be consequences", Tristan threatened as we listen to the rest of the speech play out.

I didn't even bother paying attention. All that mattered was Katie was having the time of her life and even Wyatt was too. It's still absolutely floored me how easy it was for her to just take on a child.

And three nannies.

The party continue to be in full swing and Tristan and I stayed in our little corner for the most of the night. "You're not even going to dance with Katie?"

"She's married now. That's Todd's job", I I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"If I'm going by that logic then it's your job to dance with me", I said  standing up and straighting out my greenish-blue gown made of soft, satiny fabric, long and loose. A semicircular, high collar made of silk-like materials headed the ankle-length robe. I all but dragged Tristan into the middle of the dance floor and we gently swayed to music. I didn't really care if we had rhythm or not. I just like being held in his arms. I thought this feeling of giddy would eventually wear off but I guess who is here to stay and I welcomed it.

Abruptly the DJ came on over the microphone and announced it was time for the bride to throw her bouquet. About thirty girls raced over to the designated area leaving the dance floor mainly empty. Tristan and I stayed in our own little bubble. It wouldn't be long before we left. I just wanted to make sure Katie new Tristan did care about her. Thought he was reaching his moments of people for the day I could see it in his tired eyes. Just as I was about to suggest we leave. An eerie song kicked in over the speakers that made me stop and listen.

With my face twisted I found for a moment making Tristan asked,"You don't like it?"

"Not for a wedding? I mean the song was kind of messed up with a techno beat anyway, but now it's just...'Who likes this?' You know?"

"I do. I requested it on the invitation", he answered.

"That doesn't surprise me. Is this supposed to be our song?"

" It's as close as I'll get to serenading you", he stated.

"I'll take it", I laughed. " Should we get out of here?"

Grabbing my wrist twisting quickly made a beeline for the exit,"I thought you never ask".
