A Good Pal

I was laying on the stairs face first, my head pointing down the stairs, I don't know how long I was laying there for but it's obviously been a while, the mansion has basically been empty the past three days and I still didn't know why everyone was gone, and now that Toby was gone I didn't know what to do with myself, dying on the stairs seemed like the best thing at this time, every now and then I'd hear someone walk past me but no one stopped at all, it was probably one of the very few in the mansion, as I was laying there I could hear someone coming upstairs.
"Oh dear lord, there's a dead body." I heard Skully say.
I didn't say anything or move at all.
"Just leave him." Masky said from nearby.
"I'm not just going to leave him like that." Skully said, "He might be in actual danger."
"He's throwing a fit because Toby's not here." Masky said, "Leave him alone."
I didn't like the way he worded that.
"Fine, whatever." Skully said.
I heard someone walk away from the top of the stairs, after a few more seconds I felt someone poke my side.
"Wakey-wakey, dead body." Skully said.
"Go away." I finally said.
"Oh shit, it ain't dead!" He whispered in a panic.
I lifted my head and gave him a weird look, he was holding his face in an obvious fake panic.
"How am I supposed to hide a dead body if it ain't dead?!" He asked in a whisper, "Ah shit!"
"What is your problem?" I asked.
He went quiet as he stared at me.
"Oh my god..." He said quietly, "The dead body's worried about me?! Why are dead bodies so nice?!"
He suddenly looked really panicked even though I was well aware he was just playing around.
"Shouldn't dead bodies be super pissed off?!" He asked quietly, "They have all right too, right?! Cause they're dead?!"
I couldn't help but snicker at him.
"Dow!" He shouted as he slapped his forehead, "Now I'm being made fun of by a dead person! What a loser!"
"Shut up." I chuckled as I pushed him slightly.
He began laughing as he sat there next to me, I started to get up.
"You're so weird." I said.
"Brian says it's a personality thing." He chuckled.
I laughed slightly as I shook my head.
"Why did you decide to even bother me?" I asked.
"I don't know." He shrugged, "Guess it just looked like you needed a pick-me-up."
I just sat there staring at him silently, he was staring right back at me like a doofus.
"Feeling better?" He asked.
"I guess." I said.
"Are you a moron?" I heard Masky ask.
We both looked up at him.
"I said to just leave him alone." Masky said, "Can't you just, like, stop being you for five minutes?"
Skully quickly pulled up his mask and stuck his tongue out at Masky, he blew raspberries at him as he flipped him off, Masky just sat there staring at him silently, it then went awkwardly quiet.
"Why?" Masky asked.
Skully blew more raspberries as he extended his middle finger again, I just sat there silently as I watched them, after a full minute of Skully flipping Masky off and blowing raspberries he went quiet, Masky just stayed quiet and walked away, I looked back at Skully.
"Um..." I trailed off.
"Why does he hate me?" Skully asked, "I've done nothing to him."
He looked down slightly as he put his mask on right.
"Other than die, that is." He said.
"Die?" I asked.
He looked at me slightly, then he started to laugh.
"Oh yeah, I died!" He laughed, "I was shot."
"Oh." I said.
"Yeah, everyone thought I was dead." He said, "Tim literally screamed when he found out I was Jay... and alive."
I was just quiet.
"So you really did know each other before?" I asked.
"Yeah, we were all part of a big group of friends." He said, "Although I was one of the more... odd ones, so to speak."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Tim actually really didn't like me." He said, seeming a little distressed, "But after everything I know he appreciates to have any sort of familiarity in his life."
He seemed even more distressed.
"What with how fucked up his minds getting with all those drugs, I'm honestly surprised he even remember Jay at all."
I was quiet as I stared at him.
"Are you... split personality?" I asked.
"Um, in a way." He replied as he rubbed the back of his neck, "We have kind of the same way of thinking, but Jay's a little more out there than Skully."
"It's kind of weird hearing people talk in the third person." I said.
"It's fun if you use it in the right aspect." He said quickly, "Like Skully is going to kill you, it's funny because every time I do say that I get weird looks."
"You sound like Toby." I laughed slightly.
"I'll take that as a compliment." He said.
We both just sat there on the stairs for a while talking, he was a pretty cool dude, his phone rang and he looked at his pocket, he reached in and pulled out his phone, he opened it and put it to his ear.
"Are you currently dying?" He asked.
It was silent aside from a faint voice from the other side.
"But are you dying?" He asked.
It was silent again.
"That's not dying." He said, "What do you need?"
It went back to being silent, he looked down slightly.
"Yeah, I got that, but what about Masky?" He asked.
It was quiet again.
"He's mad at me, though." He said, "I don't think..."
He seemed to be distressed once again.
"No, I'm not that far." He said, "I'm on the stairs, I got home a little while ago."
It was silent.
"Fine, mom." He said, "I'll be up in a minute."
He quickly hung up, he looked at me.
"Brain wants me for some reason." He said, "Later."
He waved slightly before he got up and went up the stairs, I sat there a little longer before I laid back down on the stairs, returning to my previous act, I just laid there for who knows how much longer, after a minute I heard someone walking up the stairs, they stopped next to me, I listened as they crouched down next to me and gently touched my shoulder.
"Jack?"
I sat up quickly, Toby was crouched down next to me, he looked a little worried.
"What w-were you d-doing?" He asked as he looked at the stairs.
"I don't know." I said, "Being dead, I guess."
He looked at me, then back at the stairs.
"Um, okay." He said, "I g-guess."
I started to get up as he stood up.
"Have you b-been there all day?" He asked.
"I guess." I said, "I don't know for sure, I wasn't keeping track of anything."
"I'm not surprised." He said, "L-let's go t-to bed."
"Okay." I agreed.
