The Warringtons weren't kidding when they wanted the wedding to happen as soon as possible. The days following the house search are filled with all sorts of wedding preparations. The bags under Mrs Warrington's eyes grow, even though she tries to cover them up. I'm not losing any time so I'm not sure if what Mrs Warrington was doing isn't working or if she isn't using it. Every time I leave the room I'm accompanied by one of the Warringtons and since I don't have my wand, escaping is difficult.

Cassius looks very smug every time I see him and I have to restrain myself in order to slap him. I tried once but Mr Warrington managed to stop me before I got too close.

Everything about the wedding has been picked out by Mrs Warrington. The dress, the jewelry, the bouquet of flowers, the theme, the seating arrangements, everything. I only get to watch – tied to a chair as I'm shown everything. When one of the maids asked what I thought about the flowers framing the aisle, I laughed and told her I didn't care if they were blood red or sky blue. Mrs Warrington had slapped me in the face for that comment and my cheek hurt the remainder of the day, but it was worth the look of horror on the maid's face.

I grow anxious, though. Days pass but not a single member of the Order. I spend hours pacing up and down the room, wondering if something went wrong. What if they're too late?

The morning of the day of the wedding, I am woken up by Mrs Warrington herself. She has a bright smile on her face and the bags under her eyes have disappeared. There are maids flooding the room with boxes. One of them places a tray with a single slice of bread on my nightstand before leaving again.

"Today is your big day!" Mrs Warring exclaims excitedly as she pulls open the curtains.

I don't want it to be my big day, I want to go home.

"First, breakfast, then a bath, before we'll start on getting you dressed. I'm sure everyone will love your dress."

I don't move and Mrs Warrington sighs, "Are you still not over this? Dear, I need you to cooperate. I promise everything will be over soon and then you'll be able to enjoy your married life with Cassius where you only need to focus on the important things. Like children. I want at least two grandchildren, but I won't complain if I have more. Preferable a boy and a girl."

The woman grabs the blanket and pulls it off me. She smiles as she grabs my arm and continues chatting as if nothing is wrong: "Nicodemus works at the Obliviator Headquarters and he will make sure you will forget that stupid blood traitor after your wedding is finished."

The piece of information sinks in and suddenly, everything becomes clear. They are going to obliviate me.

"What?!" I snap my head to look at Mrs Warrington, "You can't do that!"

"It's for the best, dear," the woman answers.

I yank my arm out of her grip and shake my head as I slowly step back, "It's for the best? Are you delusional? Do you really think that I would want to marry that smug prick of a son of yours even after I have been obliviated? What are you-"

"Imperio."

No, no, no, I scream as I'm once again falling into the dream-like state. It feels different this time, as I feel everything. I'm not merely a spectator anymore but my body still doesn't listen to me. I'm no match to Mrs Warrington when she has her wand and I don't have mine.

After the bath, a house-elf hands me lingerie and a robe.

Sit down in front of the mirror.

I sit down in front of the large golden mirror. Mrs Warrington and the maids start dressing me up and doing my hair. It feels like hours have gone by and I feel like I'm some sort of doll made to be changed into the perfect bride. Whatever Mrs Warrington is using to keep me compliant, it's not lifted but I feel it breaking down piece by piece.
