- Then and them (just normal typos really)

Review:
'To Name The Dark' encompasses a wide sense of both illusion and insecurity. The writing style intricately delves into internal and external factors, inner madness as well as outside divinity. The descriptions really are beautiful - beautiful enough to quote and tattoo and write on walls. The characterisation, however, is something completely different - the perspective of Thea is quirky, original, refined and partially definitive and addictive. It's so difficult not to get entrapped in a cycle from next chapter to next chapter because each new part brings something else to our understanding but also the developing story line that comes on like a slow roast, almost. Almost everything is quotable to such an extent - 'wreckage is beautiful and chaos is holy', this is the kind of book that develops readers and observation, but has that perfect underlying sense of superiority and control, too. As well as being addictive, in places this story is also infuriating and frustrating! When the main character (SPOILER ALERT) starts to forget certain aspects of her life, there is this huge sense of shock and 'oh no' on the reader. It's easy to get attached, actually, but also drawn into the plot itself because anything could be happening depending on your interpretation of the events and perspective of Thea's crumbling narrative. Alongside this shining traits, 'To Name The Dark' also maintains a grip in structure, using newfound ways to break mid sentence, even midword, for effect and never do anything less than use it to drive the plot further forward.

Blurb:
'Thea is not crazy. Probably. She remembers what happened (all too clearly) before she woke up in a blank white cell, but she doesn't want to talk (or write, as the case may be) about it. But who can Thea trust when she can't even rely on her own mind?'
