"Veronica," Wes whispered as he snuggled with his gavel. "Can I tell you a secret?"
The gavel stared at him blankly.
"Okay... well, you're my best friend. I think sharing secrets with best friends is important."
The gavel stared at him blankly.
"Veronica..." Wes fiddled with the handle. He spun her around two times before stopping and stroking the top of her. "I'm sorry if I hurt you. The Warblers don't understand me like you do. I get so mad at them and I take it out on you."

Wes blinked away his tears, cradling Veronica closer to his chest. "I-I am so sorry, Veronica. My precious friend. My loyal companion. I love you so much."

The gavel stared at him blankly.
"You're sleeping? While I'm serenading you?" Wes gaped in disbelief, wiping his tear-stained cheeks. "I feel betrayed!"
The gavel stared at him blankly.
"Oh, I suppose I deserve it," He sighed, bringing Veronica back up to his chest. "You must be tired. Well, good night, Veronica," He kissed the top of her lightly. "I love you."
