Before her friends could answer, she brought out her cell phone and immediately called her father.

No answer.

"Shit...somethings wrong," Lucy muttered as she tried calling her mother this time.

No answer.

She nearly dropped her phone and began to tremble.
She was so afraid.

"We gotta go...now..." Lucy spoke as she rushed out of the bathroom towards the entrance of the university. Her friends were close behind trying to keep up with her.

She flung open the door and ran down the many steps leading out to the parking lot. Hearing her friends behind her she turned to them immediately.

"That's as far as you go...go back to class. Thanks for warning me but this is my battle now. I can't drag you both down with me." Lucy spoke confidently.
"Will you be alright?" Krissy asked worriedly.
"Yes! Now go!" Lucy smiled giving them both a quick embrace.

"You better not get caught!" Nicki yelled as Lucy ran towards the cars.

Once she was away from the building, Lucy was able to take her phone out and search for the name of the person who she depended on if her parents weren't available.

Frost.

She tapped his name and prayed he'd pick up.

"Lucy!" Frost exclaimed.

"Oh thank god!" Lucy began to tremble and sob when she heard his voice. "What's happening Frost?? I'm so scared!"

The truth is, Lucy was just an innocent civilian. She was the polar opposite of her parents. All this time she had maintained a low profile by using her fathers last name, one which no one knew of.
She hated bloodshed and her parents, noticing their delicate flower was sensitive to the cruelty of the world, had shielded her from their mundane lives. Yes they were criminals who killed and robbed but in her presence, they wouldn't dare bring about any of that business.

"Look...your father was exposed this morning during a deal gone bad. He's currently on his way to Camino." Frost explained. "The guys had every bit of info on him, including your whereabouts and information. Your moms with him too. So hang tight and don't get caught."

Lucy swallowed the lump in her throat as she stayed huddled between two cars, hoping to hide away from the authorities looking for her in the building.

"And what do I do if they spot me? What do I do now?! I'm so scared..." Lucy let out a shaky breath as her tears started streaming down her cheeks.

"Run," Frost simply said.

Lucy sobbed into the phone, holding it up tightly in her hands.

"I...I can't do this Jonny, I can't..."
"Stay strong Lucy! Remember where you come from. I'm coming to pick you up right now, I just need to devise a disguise, change my plates, and I'll be there. Just go to the drop off zone and hide in the bushes. I'll be there, I promise," Frost breathed into the phone.

Lucy couldn't help but tremble but she agreed ultimately and sighed, hanging up the phone.

(Lucy POV)

As I kept running between cars, trying to duck as low as I could, I felt my phone vibrate in my hand. Looking down i sighed in relief at the incoming text.

Where are you?

I couldn't help the tears welling in my eyes. It was my dad.

I wasted no time in ducking behind a car and immediately texting back as fast as my fingers could allow.

I'm in the school parking lot, hiding. Running.

A few short seconds later, he called me. I immediately picked up.

"Dad!" I screamed
"Where are you?" His voice was raspy and tired. Completely uncharacteristic of him.

"At school, hiding. Why are the police looking for me?" I tried not to sound panicked but couldn't hide it well.

"Listen, stay clear of the police as long as you can. I'm sending help your way," he commanded.
I couldn't help but let out a sob and he heard.

"Don't...grow weak now. It's not the time, Lucy. Be strong. Remember who your father is!" I could hear his laughter on the other line. It reassured me. I sniffled and chuckled.

I felt the area I stand in grow darker and darker. Before I knew, there was a dark shadow cast over me from behind.

Turning slowly I turned to see the figure standing behind me. I couldn't believe it. My eyes widened in complete disbelief at my luck.
I gasped out as I shuffled as far back as I could, my back hitting a car.

"Lucy...Lucy!" My dads voice roared through the phone but I had dropped it now as I looked ahead of me.

He stood authoritatively over me. The man my father had come to know as an enemy.

The man who'd serve justice, but who had yet to serve it upon my father.

Looks like the time had finally come.

"Batman..." I whispered as I kept my eyes glued on him. He kept quiet.
Meanwhile my fathers cursing could be heard on the other end of the phone.

I swiftly reached out to grab it, not breaking my daze away from the bat before me, but he quickly threw one of his weapons from his utility belt towards my hand, making me withdraw my hand in pain as it hit my knuckles.

"Ahh!" I hissed as I brought my now bleeding knuckle to my lips, looking venomously up at batman. My father hated him.

Why shouldn't I?

Picking up my phone, batman put it up to his ear.

"Joker."
