Imagine if Nate was from Britain and a rapper💕
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A shrill, eardrum shattering, screech echoes through the small plane, decipherable even through the buzzing of the aircraft and it causes you to pop your blurry eyes open and blink a few times before you turn across the aisle to blearily glance in the direction of where it came from.
You weren't sleeping, no, that was virtually impossible with the screeching. It didn't bother you because you couldn't fall asleep though, it bothered you because it was heart breaking.
"Lilia, baby please, please calm down for mummy." Kalyan begs in a pitiful voice as she bounces the sobbing, wailing toddler on her lap. Lilia, whose face is red and wet has one little hand pressed against her mothers face and the other tugging at her ear as she takes a momentary pause from the wailing to catch her breath and sniffle. Kalyan pats her back soothingly. Her own eyes are shut as she leans forward and presses her forehead against Lilia's gently.
The aircraft is small, holding the bodyguards, the main team members like Kaylan , the other boys, you, and Nate as it flies you all to the next leg of the tour. Nate had convinced you to join him now that you were on break from school. ("It'll be fun yeah, love? Want yeh here with me.")
Another scream, not as powerful as the previous one echoes from the tired babe and you frown as you distinctly see her face turn a deeper shade of red. "Please, Lilia!" Kaylan snaps, as she pulls her forehead away from the toddler and holds her farther away, ears ringing from the impact of the scream.
You sit up a bit, digging your elbows into the arm rests as you squirm. Kaylan's at the end of her wits, you can tell. She's usually so calm and bright to be around, especially considering that she has to deal with the boys before each and every show. But the light is gone from her eyes and she's sighing more and more often, and you know she's on the brink of tears.
"Kaylan, hey. Give her here." You whisper, swallowing as you outstretch your hands across the aisle towards her.
Kaylan looks from Lilia to you and frowns through the dim lit area, struggling to keep Lilia still in her arms, "No, no Y/N. It's alright, she's just begin difficult. Aren't you, Lilia?" She inquires, peering at the toddler who hiccups through a sob in response.
"Kaylan , you've been at it for hours, c'mon hand her over. Go walk around a little, get some sleep in the back." You insist, unbuckling your belt so it'll allow you to lean over more towards her.
"Y/N, I can't. I mean Nate-she'll wake him." Kaylan mumbles, gesturing to your right.
You turn over your shoulder and see Nate leaning against the wall of the plane, curly hair messy as it's pressed against a pillow. He's insisted on bringing a fluffy blanket on board, and it's pulled up high and tucked under his chin with one hand fisting it there. The other is resting on your knee, gentle but firm to remind himself, more than you, that you're still there. It's a good compromise, considering you two had spent the first few hours of the flight curled up together, until both of you had become squirmish. He's snoring, softly, his mouth slightly agape. Although he's not immune to Lilia's screams, he had frowned and huffed and murmured sleepy suggestions to get her to calm down before his hooded brown eyes had succumbed to the sleep. His brows are furrowed and the skin between them is creased in worrisome wrinkles, and you know subconsciously he's still worried.
You smile a bit and reach down to pat his hand on your knee before you turn back to Kaylan, "He's fine, fast asleep. Uncle Knobhead would want Lilia to get some sleep too, wouldn't he?" You reiterate in a softer voice when Lilia turns to stare at you.
"You're sure? You didn't sleep either..." Kaylan trails off, glancing between you and Kaylan hesitantly.
"I also didn't do a show last night, now come on. C'mere Kaylan , come sit with auntie." You say, waving your hands in a come here motion.
Kaylan gives you a grateful look as she stands up and deposits Lilia into your awaiting arms, she flashes a quick relieved smile at you and mumbles something about being right back as she shuffles towards the back of the plane.
"Alright, little love, you're okay. Sh, sh. I've got you." You mumble, taking the squirmy, squealing toddler into your hold and settling her into your lap.
She's still sobbing, wet churlish sobs that make your heart quench. She's burning up, you note as you rub your fingers of one hand into her back with and use the other to wipe her wet cheeks.
You try bouncing her on your knee like Kaylan had been but it only makes her hiccup between her sobs. "Okay, okay, lets try something new, yeah? S'okay sweet pea. You're going to be just fine.." You mutter, narrowing your eyes as you shift her to hold her against your chest, on the opposite side of where Nate is so she doesn't wake him up. She buries her face into your neck and your heart feels warm at the gesture. You love kids, and you love Lilia just as much as Nate does.
You let your hand cradle her head, fingers brushing through her soft brown locks as your neck swallows her sobs and you pat her back with the other. You turn your head to the side and press a kiss to her temple, rocking as much as you can in the small airplane seat as you keep her hugged to you.
You close your eyes as you continue the gentle movements and let your cheek rest on top of her head. She's gripping onto the fabric of Nate's Nebraska sweatshirt that you're wearing. "You're okay, sweetheart." You whisper soothingly into her hair. She pulls away after a few moments, letting out a shrill squeal as her small hand releases the fabric to pull at her right ear. Her watery, brown eyes break your heart and you can't help but dart forward to press a soft kiss to her forehead.
"Your ears bothering you, little love? S'that whats got you all worked up?" You inquire as you reach to grab at her little hand and pull it away.
"Lets see if auntie can help you? Hm?" You replace her hand with yours, covering her small ear and rubbing behind it, top to bottom, with your finger in gentle stokes.
You frown as you watch her, it really is a disheartening sight and you can't imagine how she's feeling. Except, she's sniffling now, and her cries have fallen softer and it strikes you that she's no longer wailing. She's sitting square in your lap leaning into your touch and letting her small hands press into your thighs.
She leans forward as you continue to rub behind her ear, little hands closing and unclosing towards you as she whines a bit.
"Feeling better, little love? Did that help?" You whisper as you guide her back towards the crook of your neck.
She gladly accepts, pressing her arms against your chest as she snuggles into you. "There we are, you're okay. Getting sleepy, baby?" You whisper as you reach for the blanket in your lap and tuck it around her.
She's getting heavy against you after a while and you continue to rub behind her ear for a little until you feel your eyes getting heavy too. You lean back in your seat and wince slightly at the sound of your back popping, as you cradle Lilia's head in one hand and wrap the other around her little torso under the blanket. Once you're comfortable and she's secure against you, you let your own head tilt off to the side with the premise of getting a few moments of shut eye.
