They are real people! They deserve to be respected like any other human being. Just because they want to be identified as their opposite gender, doesn't mean they deserve to be picked on, injured, or killed. It makes no sense.

First off that word is offensive. It's not a "shortened way" of saying transgender. It is a derogatory term.
Second off if someone is transgender use their correct pronoun.
If they want to be reffered to as she/her you refer to them by she/her. I don't care if you can tell what their past gender was. What matters is their CURRENT gender. So either they want to be referred as he/him, she/her, they/them ... Just use the one they prefer.
It's really simple. Not that hard.
