Zoey's pov

I'm woken up by a knock on the door. I sit up, rubbing my eyes, slightly confused. Why was on the floor?

Then it hits me. Peyton and Charlotte. My heart breaks all over again.

Before I can stop it, the door is opening. It almost hits me. But not quite.

"Hey Zoey," a depressed voice says. I look up and see Jace stand above me. He closes and locks the door. Then sits down on the floor beside me.

"Jace, I-"

"It's okay. I already saw the pictures," he tells me softly.

"Jace, when I set you up with Charlotte, I had no idea. I didn't want to hurt you too," I apologize.

He laughs, "Well of course you didn't know. If you had known that your boyfriend was cheating on you with your best friend, you would've cried, not set me up with Char." I nod and pull my knees up to my chest.

"It just doesn't make sense though," he says after a few minutes of silence.

"What do you mean?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"I mean, I've known Peyton all of my life and he'd never do that to girl. Especially not you, Zoey. He is in over with you. Like, crazy in love with you," Jace tells me.

I shake my head no, "Maybe he used to be when we first met."

It's Jace's turn to shake his head no at me, "Literally the day before we came back on tour, Peyton was in the hospital, visiting his mom. I was going to the hospital a little later because I was saying goodbye to my family. Anyway, I was right outside of his mom's room when I heard his talking about you. And don't even say he was talking about Charlotte. He was saying your name. Anyway, kept saying how amazing you were. And how much he loves you. Zoey, Peyton is still in love with you."

"Then why did he kiss my best friend? And your girlfriend?" I argue.

I honestly want to believe that Peyton is still in love with me. I'm still in love with him. But I've been hurt before. I'm cautious with the boys I date now.

"I don't know. But I do know that he'd never hurt you on purpose," Jace answers, staring me in the eyes.

"Charlotte really likes you, ya know?" I blurt out.

Jace snorts, "She's got a funny way of showing it. Kissing my best friend."

"I mean it. I haven't known her as long as you've known Peyton, but I know her. She wouldn't do anything like this as well. Jace, you're the only person who can make her nervous. She's scared that she'll make a fool out of herself in front of you and you won't like her," I confide.

He shakes his head, "She's cute when she does something stupid like that. I love that about her." I nod, suddenly knowing what we have to do.

"Come on," Jace says, standing up. He offers me a hand up. I gladly take it.

"Let's go talk to them," I finish.
