Hey guys! I have a new story published. It's called The Stepbrother. If you guys want to check that out, it'd be cool.

Zoey's pov

"How's your mom doing?" I ask Peyton, moving my shoulder up to hold my phone for me. It only takes me about three seconds before I get tired of that and just put it on speaker.

"She's doing better. And she says hi," Peyton replies. I smile to myself. His mom was awesome. I had talked to her on FaceTime with Peyton not too long ago.

"Are you getting ready to go exploring New York with the boys?" He questions. I sit down on my bed, biting my lip.

"Zoey? You still there?" Peyton calls.

"Yeah. And, we are going out. But we're not really exploring. The boys have an interview and I'm not allowed to stay in the hotel alone," I tell him.

"Why not?"

I sigh, "My ex, Riley, remember I told you about him? Anyway, he's not in prison and is in New York."

Peyton's quiet for a minute, "Please promise me that you'll be careful. I don't want anything to happen to you Zoey."

"I'll be careful. The boys are letting me out of their sight," I say.

"That's-" Whatever else he was saying was cutting by loud noises on the other line.

"Peyton? You okay babe?" I question, concerned.

"I'm fine. Sorry, my best friend Jace is over and is being annoying," my boyfriend apologizes. I giggle.

"Dude? Are you still talking to your imaginary girlfriend?" A new voice calls out in the background.

"He doesn't think you're real."

"Put me on speaker." Peyton complies.

"Hey Jace!" I shout.

"Holy shit, Peyton! Your girlfriend is real!" Jace yells. I laugh some more.

"Hey Zoey, I'm really sorry, but I have to go. My mom needs our help," Peyton tells me.

"It's fine. Tell her hi for me," I say.

"Okay. I love you, Zoey."

"I love you too, Peyton." And we both hang up.

"Oh my God! Is it time to go yet?" I whine to Kierra, the hairstylist for the TV show the boys were on now.

She laughs, "Ashton, Michael, Luke, and Calum are answering their last question. Then you guys have to put the wardrobe stuff into the van, then you can leave." I nod.

"I'm going to walk around back stage," I tell Andrew. He hesitates.

"Just around here. I won't leave the backstage area. Promise I'll be okay," I assure him.

"Fine. But keep your cell on you at all times," Andrew instructs. I grin and give him a hug before walking off to go explore.

"Hey Zoey," an all too familiar voice says from behind me.

I turn around, "Riley? What are you doing out of jail?"

"They tried my sister and found her guilty. I was innocent. I am innocent. Zoey, I never wanted to do that to you. I had to go along with Annabelle though. She was threatening me. I was scared of her. Please, believe me," he pleads. He starts walking towards me. For each step he took towards me, I took one back.

"I-I..." I stutter. I was at a loss for words.

"Please Zoey."

I look up into his familiar broen eyes. And I still couldn't manage to find my words.

"What will it take for you to believe me and take me back?" Riley begs.

I freeze. What the hell?
