My Secretary....is also a What????!!!

Firing! and Reunion..

(Jakes POV)

Its been four months since we got that new secretary
and every time either Jace or I try to get close to her or ask her out she just shuts herself off and refuses us.....
Which is quite a pleasant surprise since every girl that we have come across is willing to throw themselves at out feet...... And I can feel desperation creeping up in the back mind, particularly, desperation from my brother, both of us has this connection where even if we are continents apart we know what the other is feeling....... Our trust is one of a kind, ever since I can remember we have shared everything including women, and I don't know if with Maria we are fighting a loosing battle or do we have to push her some more?., Seeing her but not able to touch or feel her is getting to both our nerves and we have been taking out our anger on her  for some time..... That would usually make all our previous secretary's run out crying....... But Maria bless her soul has just taken what ever we throw at her and not given up on us, even when we made her do the draft reading of many of  manuscripts that come to us.... In the short 4 months that she has been here we have had 3 books published.... That is more than what we could do in 6 months. There is just this aura around her that makes us want to do whatever we can to see that we are good....and prove ourselves capable I don't what and why that is, but I am glad that it is working in our favour as more and more people are coming to our publishing house to publish their books. So  I walked to my brother's office stopping only to wish Maria back when wished me. One more thing is that I have never seen her smile completely.... Just a smirk or a small smile but never fully reaching here eyes.... I just sighed in sadness and as I opened the door to my brothers office, I was shocked, ..., My brother!! Jace the one who is always the cool and calm and happy one among the both of us was lying on the couch and there were tears  trailing down his cheeks and  I rushed over to him to see what had happened to make such a jovial  man cry
"Jace.. What happened??"
"Jake, it hurts.... It hurts soo much " and he started sobbing into my shoulder..
"What hurts Jace???" I asked him sternly, I couldn't understand anything.
"My heart, it hurts soo badly Jake I am falling for her but she doesn't even notice that she doesn't even open up, what are we doing wrong??... "" Aren't u feeling the same thing??"
"I don't know Jace I have feelings for her but when she doesn't reciprocate them we should probably let her go I think that is what is best" I whisper brokenly. Broken because we can't have what we want and because my brother is feeling soo much I would do anything to get him out of this pain..... And then suddenly it clicked. It was because she was here all the time that we couldn't get over her, it's time I fired her to help the both of us. And with out further thinking I got up and stalked to the door and pulled it open and went up to her and spoke in a cold emotionless voice
" We are getting another better secretary so we want you to leave this place as soon as possible, please take all your things and don't come back and your salary will be sent to your bank account. Thank you and good bye."
By the time I had finished my rant she had stood up and faced me with her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Feeling slightly guilty, I stormed back into my brothers office to see him passed out on the couch. I went to him and slowly whispered in his ear "our problem is going to go away.. We will not be hurt anymore don't worry I will always be there to protect you" and I too slumped against the side of the couch and promptly fell asleep. After some time I woke up to see that it was already night and my phone was ringing still disoriented i picked up the phone without looking at the caller id
"Hello? Brown here"
"Jake??"
"Axel?? Is that really you man?????" I asked shocked and not willing to believe what I was hearing
"Yep brown it's me" I heard him chuckling
And I couldn't help but give out a big and relief filled laugh!. Alex was back !! Our college trio was complete and I was unbelievably happy.
Where are u? I asked quickly, "At the new bar that started 5 streets from your office. Meet me there I will wait for y'all"
Alex  was the third musketeer in our group. We were together since high school and we were more like brothers than friends, after college he had gone off to join the military and the last time we saw him was about 8 months ago before he went back to base in Iraq. I shook Jace who was still sleeping  soundly and  woke him up  and I could just imagine the expression on his face when I told him the news, and I was right on  mark. He literally scrambled out of the couch and jumped up and hugged me  and then started screaming at me for not getting ready fast enough, I just laughed at his antics and quickly rushed to the attached bathroom in the office and changed my clothes and then Jace  snatched the car keys out  my suit pocket and dragged me out of the office going on ranting about how I was such a lazy ass..:).
