Chapter Four

~Jacob's POV

I finally got to the the top of the staircase, the grip on my baseball bat strong and firm.

I closed my eyes, and turned on the light.

"Jacob, what are you doing with a bat?!"

"I.. thought you were someone... dangerous."

Wow, I felt stupid.

"Boy, go back to sleep!"

I started to walk down the stairs then realized he was here.

He's actually here!

"Dad!" I said running to give him a hug.

Ok, it was a childish move, but shit. I miss my dad.

"You ok?" He said.

"Yes! I just miss you! Where have you been?"

He sighed, and pushed me off.

"Jacob, take a seat."

"Uh, alright."

I had no idea what he was about to say, but he looked serious so I played close attention.

" The reason I've been gone so much is because I met someone."

I stared at him like he made no sense.

"What? Of course you're gonna meet someone, Dad. You ain't the only person in the world."

"No, imbecile. A special someone." He continued.

"I don't follow."

"A woman! I met this lady at the firm. Her name is Janelle."  (Side picture. Aye, Denise Boutte!)

"What about this 'Woman'?"

"Jacob are you mentally challenged? Do I have to spell it out for you?"

"No, but it's confusing!"

"Well, it seems we might have a serious relationship."

My heart dropped down into my stomach.

Dad hasn't been with anyone since mom, and it's kinda fucked up to even think of starting a new family.

"What?"

"I know, I know. But we'll talk about it tomorrow, go to sleep."

"Dad! you can't do that!"

"Jacob I know it's hard, but, you've got to understand-"

"Understand nothing!"

Anger boiled in my flesh, making me outrage even more.

"You can't just, start a new family and expect us to just, follow along!"

"Trust me, Jacob. She's not that bad!"

"Well I don't want to know for myself."

"That's what you said about Aliyah, now look at you. You're completely in love with the girl."

"But-"

Shit, he had a point.

"Don't bring her into this." I said between my teeth.
