Chapter 54: It's a Date.

Start from the beginning

There's no way I'm going into Dauntless Secret, but I can send Olivia over there to get Maddie something, and get her a dress to wear tonight. I'll give her the money, of course.

Maddie left clothes at Olivia's for tonight, but I'm going to get her something new. Through Olivia.

I her a rapping at the door a few minutes later as I sit on the couch, playing with Hannah. I slide her onto my waist, supporting her back with my arm, as I walk to the door. I pull it open, to reveal a smiling Olivia.

She cut her hair to her shoulders, and it's bleached now. "Hey." I state. "Come in." She steps in, her hair bobbing along with her as she does so.

I bounce Hannah up and down as I walk back to the couch, Olivia behind me. She sits beside me, and I lay Hannah in between us. "I need you to do me a favor." I state as I reach down beside me to pull out one of Maddie's dresses and the black lingerie.

I hand them to Olivia. "I'd like you to go and pick Maddie up some red lingerie and a red dress." I say, my face becoming even more red by the second.

"Ooh, you guys must be going on a date. I'll get it all." She says, and is about to leave, but I stop her.

"Here." I say, handing her two hundred Dauntless credits. "Keep what you don't spend." I say, kissing Hannah's nose. She gurgles.

"Do you think you could take Hannah now?" I ask. She looks at Hannah, smiling. "Sure. I hardly ever get to see her. Hunter drops Luke by every now and then, but I hardly ever see Hannoodle here."

She comes up to me, and pokes Hannah's nose. I hand her over, and pick up the knotted contraption that is the strap.

I click it into place on her back, and help her slide Hannah into place. "Wait until you see Maddie. She'll make your jaw drop," she says, winking, and leaves.

I stand in the living room, and check my watch. It's almost six. Maddie just left at about three for the meeting at the Pire, and then she had an induction ceremony at Erudite at six, so I've got some time.

I decide to start by preparing the lasagna, and putting it in the oven since it has to cook for about an hour and a half at the least.

It was pretty easy to prepare. Just stacking pasta then sauce, pasta, sauce, pasta, and last but not least, more sauce.

I slip the pan into the oven, and then decide to pick up house. I put Hannah's toys in my office, since I'm hardly ever in there, and it's here downstairs.

I fold up the pack and play, shoving it into my office as well, and finally realize how lazy I really am for not putting it in Hannah's room. Oh well.

I do an overall cleaning of the house, and sweeping of all of the leaves off the balcony. We're about eight floors up, so I watch the leaves float down until they gently land on the ground.

I clean off the table and chairs, then I plug in the sparkling lights. They gleam as the sun sets over the city. I stop to take in a breath, my eyes dancing over the city.

Maddie is probably coming back from the Erudite headquarters right now, probably jumping on the train right now.

I flash back to the past. Maddie and I never hung out that much as children. I was always older than the rest of them. I hung out with Shauna's friends' kids.
