surprise !! part two

Sydney

I lent on the doorframe and softly smiled, "Hey guys."

He tensed up suddenly, shutting his journal and slipping his guitar strap off his shoulder. I felt bad, I had entered his creative space, a place I was no longer welcome.

It hurt, suddenly I felt like an outsider to the group of creatives I was once belonged to. Whatever album he was working on now wouldn't have anything to do with me.

Releasing me from my sudden anxiety, Mitch stood up to greet me, "Lewis what are you doing here? I thought you were in New York."

I appreciated him trying to defuse the tension, but it was clear we all felt how different things were now the love had been taken away. Well, the love for me at least.

"I'm back in London, for good. Finally getting back into a routine so I popped over to do some recordings for the new album." I replied, avoiding Harry's gaze and looking at Mitch.

"Amazing! You need to send me some of the new stuff, I really want to be apart of it. It's your debut album." He excitedly grinned and I nodded back.

"Definitely. Okay, good to see you guys, I'm gonna head home. Call me if you wanna grab dinner before you're back on the road." Feeling embarassed, I fled the scene quickly and headed for the car park.

Why could we never get this right? New York, Tokyo and now London. We were following each other around the world but couldn't get through one conversation.

Ugh, I was so stupid for even trying. I started digging through my purse, searching for my cigarettes and lighter as I was walking over to my car.

Since being back I had finally braved getting a new car, I wanted to be firmly back in London and get into a routine. It was a big girl purchase but I liked having something that was my own. I had bought a 993 Black Porche, the same as Kenny. I had always loved driving it when in LA.

In a tangle of headphones, my keys and cigarettes, I dropped my lighter on the floor.

"Fucks sake." I groaned, turning to grab it.

Suddenly, I looked down and didn't see the lighter anymore but instead a shadow. My eyes flicked up and saw Harry. He was holding my silver lighter in an outstretched hand.

"Oh hi." I said, shocked he had followed after.

"Hey."

Awkward silence engulfed us, waiting to see who talk first.

"I'm sorry...I don't know why I acted like that. I was just suprised to see you and I feel like an ass." He admitted, visibly embarrassed.

Shaking my head I replied, "No...no. It's my fault I should've spoken up and not lurked."

We were both blushing at the state of things, "So...you gonna be late for something?" He chuckled, handing me the lighter as I cringed.

"Nope, just flustered I guess." I awkwardly laughed, as Harry ran his hand through his hair.

We stood there again for a few seconds not saying anything, making me want to internally die until I broke the silence, "We've gotta sort this out Harry. Clearly we keep running into each other for a reason. I can't be awkward like this forever."

He nodded, "No you're right. Um...do you wanna talk inside?"

"We can go somewhere else, I can drive us." I said, turning and opening my car door a few metres away.
