Erwin's speech was almost just like all the others he ever gives. The celebration was the same too. It only missed one familiar detail: my old squad. Petra would try to get me to have fun and smile, but I just sat there. I would watch her give up and have fun herself. She would dance and sing the songs everyone knew the words to. I could sit there watching her forever.

*Who would have thought forever could be severed by the sharp knife of a short life?*

She would glance at me and motion for me to come over from time to time. I would shake my head and she would make an exasperated gesture. She would roll her eyes and stomp over to me. She would grab my arm and uselessly pull on it, complaining about my lack of social habits. Eventually she'd give up and go have fun without me again. She'd give me jokingly angry looks. Then she'd come to my room at night to complain about it for as long as it took for me to silence her with a kiss.

Tonight, I'm all alone in my room. The only knock at my door was made by Guiin.

Of course I'm used to the loneliness by now. I was alone after my first expedition. I was alone until I started getting to know Petra better. Now I'm alone again. But I like being alone. It's annoying to have others clouding my thoughts and bothering me.

(The picture is something I found on the internet and the words were put on using the app Pixlr. They were written by me.)
