Kishibe sat alone on a bench in a park, sipping from his flask as he watched a group of children playing tag on the concrete in front of him. He glanced to the left, noticing two people walking towards him.

Denji and (Y/N) walked side by side, barely holding onto Makima's seven dogs as they pulled on their leashes. Meowy tagged along as well, perched on (Y/N)'s shoulders. Kishibe scooted down the bench, giving the two space to sit as the kids that had been playing ran to pet the pack of dogs.

The three were silent for a moment, still and rigid in complete contrast to the children that were frolicking with the dogs in front of them.

"Makima's not coming back." (Y/N) said, cutting through the silence.

"She hasn't crawled out of my mouth or the toilet or anything, so I'd agree." Denji added.

"Seems as much." Kishibe grunted.

...

"Attacks don't work on Makima..." Kishibe said. "How the hell'd you two kill someone unkillable?" Kishibe asked, holding up Meowy as the feline's body seemed to anomalously elongate.

"It was Denji's idea." (Y/N) said.

"Denji's..." Kishibe said. "...Really?"

"Yes, really! You old fart!" Denji barked. He simmered down slightly, calming enough to explain. "I and (Y/N) were never out to hurt her..." Denji said. "I thought about all the shitty things Makima had done to me... and I realized that..."

"She didn't really do anything wrong."

"Sure, Makima killed (Y/N)... But he's back now. And there's all the mean crap she said to me... But... sticks n' stones, y'know? So I don't really have a reason to hate her." Denji said. "And (Y/N), well... he realized that all that Makima wanted was to be loved by Chainsaw Man and whatever the fuck is living inside (Y/N)." Denji muttered. "This entire time we've been being bros and bonding with other people, Makima was alone." Denji said.

"So we came up with a way for us to share some of that love." Denji said.

...

"See, way back, before Makima found me and (Y/N), we were just chilling in the woods. Killin' devils, talking about whatever we wanted, and eating deer that (Y/N) caught." Denji said. "Those few times me, (Y/N), and Pochita sat around a campfire, enjoying some cooked deer meat... Just having fun and enjoying decent grub..."

"Might be the greatest times of my life..."

Denji declared.

"We wanted to give Makima a taste of that kind of love. The love shared between people enjoying a meal. And since we were sure Makima wouldn't want to enjoy a meal with us, we decided to give her a special role..." Denji said.

"That being?" Kishibe asked.

"The deer." Denji said. "Being handled and prepared with love and care... being shared among a group of friends and loved ones... and becoming one with all those people..." Denji said. "That... is the truest form of love." Denji said. "At least, the truest form of love that we could've given to her." Denji shrugged.

...

"You guys are friggin' weird, you know that?" Kishibe asked.

"No duh, dumbass." Denji said.

"So you bypassed the fine print of the contract by perceiving your attack as an act of love..." Kishibe muttered. "...But I'm more interested in the explanation for something else." Kishibe said.

"How the hell were you able to get the drop on Makima in the first place?" Kishibe asked. "Given what she's capable of, I thought an ambush on her was impossible." Kishibe said.
