Aaliyah was loving being a big sister. She took her job very seriously and was very protective of Athena. She never left her little sister's side unless one of her parents were with her or during nap time of course. Willow and Sebastian were worried that Aaliyah would be jealous of all the attention Athena was getting but that was not the case at all. Because she wasn't in school yet, she didn't really have any friends her age and her parent's friend's that had kids lived far so she only saw them occasionally. So she was loving that she had a friend at home with her everyday.
Athena also really loved her big sister. A small smile always framed her face when she would see her. She couldn't really do much yet, since she was less than two months old, but she still enjoyed watching Aaliyah play next to her. Hearing Aaliyah's stories was her absolute favorite thing. Half of the things she would say made no sense but it really made no difference to Athena, she just loved to hear her big sister.
Christmas time was always a big deal for the Stan-Downey clan. Ever since Aaliyah was born, the two families had been spending Christmas together, along with Tyler and Sam. They thought nothing could beat that first Christmas, when there was two carts full of gifts but this time around it was doubled. There was already about a hundred gifts under their tree from all their friends who had sent them over to their house during the past week. When Tyler, Sam, and both their families arrived there was about another hundred gifts added. It really shouldn't have been surprising but Willow and Sebastian still couldn't help but be shocked at how much their friends and families spoiled their children.
When everyone had arrived, the two little girls were napping so that they could prepare for the long day ahead. So as soon as Willow walked out with the two girls everyone got so excited to see them. Robert of course was the first one out of his seat. As soon as Aaliyah saw him, she ran as fast as he could into his arms, "Grandpa!" she yelled as she jumped into his arms. He picked her up and threw her in the air causing giggles to escape her mouth.
"Lia my dear! How are you love?" Robert said as he carried her on his hip.
"Good," she smiled. He eventually set her back down and she went to go greet the rest of her family. She was so excited that they were all their to visit her.
Athena was a lot shier than her older sister. Aaliyah has always been a social butterfly and loved to meet new people. Athena had obviously met all of them before but she still would rather just be with her parents, sister, and dog. She let herself be passed around to say hello but only for a few minutes before her lip began to quiver and she started looking around for her parents. She was definitely just like her father while Aaliyah was more like her mother. One more reserved and the other more extroverted.
Christmas went much like it always did. They ate, they drank, they talked, they laughed. Everything was great. They ended everything fairly early, being that there was an insane amount of presents to go through. Athena had fallen back to sleep so they began opening gifts. Aaliyah went first, followed by Avri and Exton. When they were finishing, Athena had finally woken up. She couldn't open her gifts on her own so they let the three youngest family members help out. Their was a ton of clothes, shoes, accessories, toys, and books.
When they were done opening all her presents, Aaliyah suddenly ran out of the living room without a word. They all looked around at each other confused. Sebastian began to stand up to go catch up with her to see what she was doing. Before he was able to leave the living room, Aaliyah came running back in, out of breath. "Lia where'd you go?" Sebastian asked.
"Gift for Thena!" she pulled out her hands that she was hiding behind her back. Sebastian smiled before picking her up and carrying her over to the couch where Willow was holding her. She settled down on his lap and handed the gift to her mom. It was a piece of paper that Aaliyah had drawn on. It was an adorable little drawing of the two of them playing together. Obviously the drawing wasn't perfect but it was the most beautiful thing Willow had ever seen. "That's Lia and Thena!" Aaliyah exclaimed pointing to her drawing.
"I know baby. It's beautiful!" Willow said trying to hold back her tears. "Look Seb!" she said handing the drawing to him.
Sebastian took the paper and his eyes softened at it. "Wow Lia this is great! Looks liked we have quite the artist in the family." He handed the drawing around proudly. "We'll put it in a frame and hang it in her room." Aaliyah smiled eagerly before leaning down to kiss her sister's head. Everyone couldn't help but smile at the adorable relationship between sisters.
