In Florida, Jake was attending to university, where he studied. There, he had a group of friends. At the same time, he was in a relationship with Miss Peregrine, who actually for him was just Alma. One day, Jake had something to tell Alma. His friends had decided to go on a camping trip and invited him, suggesting him to invite his girlfriend as well. He really liked the idea, so when he arrived to the house where Miss Peregrine and the children lived, after greeting them all, he told her:
J- You know what? My friends invited us to go on a camping trip with them!
A-Really? That's nice, but are you sure that they invited me as well? I mean, I've only met them a couple of times...
J- Yes, of course. It doesn't matter if you don't know them that much...
A-I don't know, I never went camping before. Besides, who will take care of the kids?
J- I can ask my parents, it's only for two nights! Maybe you end up loving it!
A-Fine, I'll go...
J- Yes!
He said kissing her cheek in excitement. After all, it was not usual that they went out on trips like those. He was happy to spend time with his friends and lover.
A- When will it be?
J- On Friday afternoon, until Sunday afternoon.
A-Alright...
J- We must get our things ready! To buy what we need and don't have... I'll tell my parents and ask them to look after the children while we are gone.
(That day was Tuesday)
Something to emphasize, was that, since it was concluded that some of the children would be better in another home, maybe in a different historical time, the wards that Miss Peregrine looked after were a few, who were the younger ones. In this case, that was an advantage, because it would be easier for Jake's parents to take care of them. Anyway, they were very polite and well behaved, so it wasn't a too complicated task, luckily.
The rest of the week went by, and the day of departure arrived. Jake and Alma were ready. They had their things packed, and after they left the children at Jake's parent's house, they were picked up by Jake's friends, who apparently owned a quite large van, that turned out very useful. After about an hour and a half of driving, they got to the place where the camping would take place. Although they had brought some tents, there were huts, which were where they would be sleeping in. Everything was charming. They were surrounded by woods and there was even a lake nearby. Besides, there was also a dining room, even though they had the possibility to drive to any other restaurant if they wished to do so. All in all, it was such a nice place.

The first day passed, and Alma thought that so far it had been worth it to come, since she was having a good time, and on top of that, Jake's friends were really nice and fun. At first, she had thought that she wouldn't fit in too well, since she was the only woman, but they made her feel comfortable and included her in all their activities. When the night came, after having dinner, they all decided to sit around a fire (you know, typical camping activity). Before actually gathering there, Alma and Jake were walking together in the woods, without going too far away from the camping site. The night was beautiful, and the weather was a little bit chilly especially at night, but they were fine with it. Holding her Alma's hand, Jake asked her:
