CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE

“Ava is so cute, look at her,” Santana smiled brightly as she turned to Derek who held Hiro in his arms while they sat out on the patio at the pack house. It was summer already but the air was still cool, so they brought the babies out.

They were babysitting for a couple of hours while Hadyn and Tate spent time together. With two newborn twins, it was hard to get any alone time, as both babies seemed to attach themselves to their mother like an extra limb. It got to the point of Hadyn going off by herself in the forest to let out some steam. She loved her children unconditionally and would give her life up without hesitation when it came to protecting them. But it was difficult. Every new mother most likely experienced the very same thing. She used to have freedom where she could just walk away by herself, but after having the twins, she couldn’t.

“I know right,” he laughed while looking down at Hiro who stared up at him.

Both babies had blonde hair and blue eyes, and each day since their births on March eighth, 2013, became attached to their parents’ friends. Santana visited them almost every day, as she would try and help out Hadyn however she could. Derek never left her sight either, so every time she’d leave, he’d follow. So the babies bonded with him as well.

Santana felt her father’s presence, so she turned to see him looking…worried? She stood, carrying the four month old baby girl in her arms.

“What’s the matter?” she asked.

“You’ll hear in the pack meeting, it’s in ten min minutes. Just wanted to say hi to the two munchkin’s and the babies of course,” he laughed as she snorted.

After returning the twins to their parents, they walked into the pack house, ready for the meeting. Most of everyone was there, but Santana could tell many were missing. Over the past two months, the rogue attacks had increased. It wasn’t really a problem for her pack, as they were the second strongest compared to Nova’s pack. Lately she heard rumours that his father wasn’t doing great, and the pack wasn’t as great as it used to be as well. She offered to go over and take charge, but Nova’s father wouldn’t have a ‘child’ leading his pack.

Troy and Chloe stood at the front of the room, holding their arms up in the air to gather everyone’s attention. Xavier stood beside Kate, who held his arm possessively, which he shrugged off but to no avail. Santana could tell from across the room that he was holding in his temper. After all, he did have a mate, and Kate knew that but still tried to gain his affections. Santana also found out later that the ‘kiss’ Kate talked about way back when, was his way of shutting her up. He couldn’t stand her anymore than a rogue wolf. She just bothered him severely to the point of going out by himself to train because she wouldn’t leave him alone.

“I have called a meeting today to announce that the rogue wolves have grown to a very numerous size in the past couple of months. The Shadow pack down South has so far spotted over fifty wolves in just their area.” Troy looked around the room and noticed some pack members give the impression of being worried. He held up his hand “No worries, they’re far from us. But my friend, the alpha of the Silver Moon pack called recently, and said that it’s getting out of hand in his area. So, I want some of you to go and help them,” he stated.

“Why should we go and help them when it’s their own pack? They should learn to handle it, if they can’t then too bad,” a girl named Kelly stated with her hands on her hips.
