Harper sat in her laptop, as Mal and Chapa distracted Hayden.
"Ugh! All these websites don't tell you the first thing about being a parent!" Harper complained. Hayden handed Harpers phone as it buzzed.

Henry🦸🏼‍♂️

Hey! We found three beds.
Which one works for Hayden?

Umm... The second one looks like it
will go nice with her room.  Make
sure you get the right shade of  pink.

Henry🦸🏼‍♂️

Got it sis.

Harper put her phone down as she made her way to Hayden's new room. It was literally right across the hall from Harper, and was the same layout. Her bed would go into the corner, while her dresser would be pressed against the side wall, with room for a small tv and her baby couch, and soon, stuffed animals would probably litter the floor. Harper laid down on the ground, before Ray came in.
"Are you sure you really want to go into the program. Your the only girl going." Ray led on.
"Duh. That's the only other reason I'm going." She sassed.

"Chapas gonna kill us when she finds out you'll be gone for three months." Ray laughed. Harper entered her room and started to gather her suitcase and duffel bag.
"I'm gonna regret leaving Chapa with Hayden for a bit. But Quinn said to bring her and Sawyer back when you can so she can take care from then on." Harper informed, tying her hair in a military bun.
"I'm gonna miss my baby girl. And remember, it's okay to call your dad every now and then."Ray teared up.
"Or I can teleport home after evening mess hall..." Harper laughed.

Harper got off the bus, catching a boy looking at her every now and then. Then, Harper felt herself get picked up. Harper squealed as she wiggled before hearing manly laughs behind him.
"Another Manchester! We can't get rid of you guys!" The man laughed.
"Hey Officer John." Harper giggled.
Harper was set down as Command Sergeant Major Jefferson marched to the front of the group.
"Attention!" He shouted. Harper snapped into position as boys around her looked lost.
"God damn it! How do you boys look lost and allow your selves to get shown up by a girl? Two laps boys!" He shouted. The boys groaned in unison.
"At ease." He ordered, Harper resting into a much better position.
"Manchester. Another, Manchester. Are you the last one?" He asked laughing. Harper smiled.
"Hey! I might be sending some more in, in the future." Harper laughed.
"Alright. Drop and give me fifty Manchester." He ordered, Harper dropped to the ground, mud splashed in her face. The boys finishing their first lap at a slow pace, jogged by.
"Done!" Harper smiled. Command Sergeant Major Jefferson squatted in front of Harper.
"Then give me a lap around the field. NOW!" He shouted in her face.
"YES SIR!" Harper shouted. Harper sprinted off down the side of the field. Harpers legs pushed her, reminding her that in a few years, she would be shouting in kids faces. Harper started to race past the boys as she pushed herself faster and faster.

The special part of this program was that all the kids here were children of current or retired Army members who looked forward to enlisting when there 18 or older. Harper smiled as she settled down to a stop in a big, wet, puddle of mud. Command Sergeant Major Jefferson gave Harper a high-five as she went to get a drink.
"You'll be through enlistment faster then you can run Manchester." He laughed. Harper giggled before her phone started blowing up.
"Might wanna answer that. But you know the rule. " He laughed. Harper looked at the contact ID. Chapa. Harper answered and put Chapa on speaker.
"Hey princess..."
IM SO EFFING PISSED WITH YOU RIGHT NOW! YOU DRAG ME TO DYSTOPIA TO GO FIND YOUR NIECE, THEN LEAVE ME WITH HER SO YOU CAN GO TO SOME ARMY TRAINING SH*T! WHO DOES THAT?
Harper closed her eyes as she shook her head.
"Chapa getting Hayden was a last minute thing. I've been registered for this since I was 6. I haven't told you but I plan on enlisting in the Army when I'm 18. Baby, Army is in the Manchester blood. I need to go now, but I'll call you later." And with that, Harper hung up.

Chapa tossed her phone onto the couch as she cried into her hands.
"I can't believe she just left!" Chapa cried. Mal sat next to Chapa and gave her a side hug.
"Why don't we go with Mika and Charlotte to the spa? Get our nails done, the whole works. Harper always took me to get my nails done when I was upset." Mal suggested. Chapa sniffled as she wiped a tear away.
"Okay."

Harper ran through the course as fast as she could. The dirt stuck to her scabbing knees as she crawled through the low ropes.
"FASTER BOYS! A GIRL IS BEATING YOU!" One of the trainers yelled. Harper ran across the finish line, and slowed her pace to a stop. Harper was met by many words of encouragement, as the boys were told to do more pushups. Harper wiped the mud that was progressively dripping into her mouth, and sat on the ground, using her water to try and wash off the mud on her wounds. Officer Mike squatted by Harper with a first aid kit and helped bandage her busted knees. Harper winced as the peroxide dribbled onto her knees.

"Breathe through it sweetheart." Officer Mike whispered. Harper nodded as she took a deep breath as he wiped her mud and blood covered diners clean.
"I remember when your mother and father came here. I had just started training kids. Your mothers knees were so bad, they had to take her out on a stretcher." He informed. Harper smiled as her knees were bandaged up tight.
"You should got to mess hall and take a break." Mike said. Harper nodded as she got up and made her way to her cabin. Harper had to share it with four boys, who had all previously looked at her on the bus. Harper set her backpack down on her bed as the boys gave her weird looks.
"Are you really gonna be here the whole time?" One asked.
"I bet your parents weren't even real soldiers." Another laughed. The four boys laughed as thunder crashed outside. Harper turned around and looked at them.
"My mom and dad were both ranked Sergeant Majors. My dad died when I was five, and my mom died in a freak accident." Harper barked.
"Was that freak accident having you?" The first laughed. Harper clenched her teeth, thunder banging even louder and louder.
"Are you gonna cry baby girl?" The fourth taunted. Harper let out a small breath, grabbed her water canteen, and stormed out of the cabin. No powers. For three, whole, months. Well, she's screwed.
