Perplexing Simplicities

He turns to Taehyung who's pouting.

"Taehyung I'll eat your pie."

"You don't have to Yoongi..."

Yoongi gives him a droll look, and Tae smiles. "Okay okay, I'll go get it!"

He returns with a fresh pie (that granted, looks a little rough around the edges) and two forks.

"Dig in."

And they do.

"So, tell me, how is the life of a music producer?"

Yoongi grimaces and angrily stabs his fork into the crust. "Awful."

"Oh?"

"I'm lonely, underpaid and getting nowhere."

Taehyung frowns with a contemplative look. "I wouldn't say nowhere... And what about Hoseok? He seems to have so much fun working with you..."

Yoongi has to refrain from hissing. Why does everyone always bring up Hoseok? Hoseok Hoseok Hoseok, it's just a name. (Actually, it's a person). He's just a regular guy. (Not to Yoongi). And he's got nothing to do with Yoongi's depressing (work) life. (Everything to do with... just about every aspect of his life at this point.)

Instead, Yoongi settles for, "He said that?" in a voice that is probably way too hopeful.

"Yeah. It's honestly pretty fucking annoying how happy he is about working with you."

"Was."

"What?"

Yoongi licks his teeth and takes another aggressive bite of pie. "We're not working together anymore."

"Oh." Taehyung leans back in shock, like the fact has completely blown him away. "Right."

Yoongi nods dumbly.

"Hey, Yoongi."

"Yeah?"

Taehyung takes his sweet time but finally says, "If you like working with him so much, you could just tell him that... you know... instead of basically asking him to quit."

Yoongi looks up frowning. "I didn't ask him to quit."

Taehyung tilts his head at Yoongi, with a questioning look. "You didn't exactly make it seem like he was welcome to stay either..."

Yoongi grimaces and returns to stabbing the pie. He eventually mumbles, "Who said I even liked working with him in the first place."

Taehyung gives him a funny look; half frowning, almost laughing. "You don't?"

Yoongi meets his gaze critically. "He's annoying."

Taehyung raises an eyebrow.

"And loud."

Rolls his eyes.

"And he laughs too much."

Taehyung chuckles and smiles fondly at Yoongi's scrunched up face. "But you still like him, don't you?"

"Fuck off."

"What, am I wrong?"

Yoongi gives him a droll look, and Taehyung laughs. "See, it doesn't even matter that that wasn't an answer, I know I'm not wrong."

Another look.

"Tae." Yoongi braces himself and stuffs his face with pie. "He has a girlfriend, doesn't he?"

"What?"

Yoongi feels sick, and looks up to meet Taehyung's eyes. They're wide and confused.

"No, Yoongi. What? No he doesn't."
