[Lucas Galileo]

I held on tightly the ribbons of the fruitcake box, which I bought earlier before heading to the train station.

Although there were many seats, I chose to stand near one of the poles. It's just nice to peak through the train's glass windows and observe the stunning view of Manila Business District beneath the high train tracks.

The lights from the skyscrapers and the vehicles zooming through the highways while riding a train home from my last day of work, was just comforting to the eyes.

My grandmother would always say that she'd prefer LRT or MRT, those very old near-to-be phased out slow rusty trains, rather than ride the bullet trains. Bullet trains are way faster than the Magnet-Levitated Buses. My Fare Card's points would all be used up if I did so.

To ease my boredom, I used my earpods and pulled my glass phone out. A notification popped out on my phone indicating that the operating system has finished its automatic update. Staring at my phone intently, I remembered something since my grandmother came to our residence tonight. I still can't believe my parents and grandparents are fond of using that small heavy thing with a black screen. Yet my grandmother still uses one up till today.

I tried using one; but the battery gets busted just after two days. Compared to the glass phone, [na nilalait ng lola ko at sinasabing salamin lang ito na walang laman], a smartphone is kinda old school. The glass-phone can even last for 7 to 10 days straight without charging.

I pressed my thumb on the surface of the clear glass, and it easily recognized my thumb print. The round-shaped applications appeared, and I switched the music player on. Scrolling through my news feed, I saw posts, selfies and groufies of my batchmates. Ever since we graduated last May this year, I haven't been in touch with them.

'Di ko naman sila na-block; sadyang di ko na lang sila trip i-chat.

There were posts of them, attending Christmas parties, travelling to many countries, or getting into reunions with friends, families and other classmates.

"Sana all may tropa," I said what my father would always say.

He'd say sana all when he's disappointed at not experiencing a certain thing, and that he also wants to experience it. That's because socialization isn't my strongest trait. Yes, I know how to socialize and communicate, but I do not tend to prolong it more than 5 minutes.
