Monday

I have separation anxiety from Yejoon.

Which is funny because he doesn't at all.

Every once in awhile, Jungkook would come to take Yejoon on a bike ride while I get some chores done, and Yejoon never hesitates to wave with a tiny, enthusiastic 'bye-bye!'

Though that's usually for a little over an hour and today's going to be a whole 8 hours.

He's in good hands, Jennie.

"Well- Grandma might make him 5lbs over," I mumble as I walk towards Winter Bear's building from the station.

As I pop out of my thoughts, I realize that someone stepping in my direction.

Traveling my gaze from their tan shoes to their onyx eyes, I feel a hint of nausea.

He stares at me, eyebrows high. "J-jennie..."

I hold my purse with both my hands, "Sungjae..."

Where do I start? An apology for running away? For not texting him to explain my behavior? For not going through with the kiss?

I inhale deeply, opening my mouth to apologize, but he shakes his head vigorously.

"I-"

"Ah!" He points his eyes at me, warning me to not even start.

"Sungj-"

"Nope." He closes his eyes, a tiny smile on his face.

I shrink back, drawing my eyebrows together.

He does a mini bow, "I understand."

"Thanks, Sungjae..." My shoulders fall as I relax.

How does Sungjae always know how to comfort me? I just realized that he never pried to figure out why I even left this job out of nowhere on Friday.

The world needs more Sungjaes.

He smiles, squinting a little bit because of the morning's sun, "I'm really glad that you're here today."

I tuck my hair behind my ear. "I just hope they didn't hire a replacement already."

"Nahh, now let's get inside. I want to steal some of Ga-In's good coffee before she comes."

"But don't you have coffee right there?" I tilt my head in confusion as I stare at the cup in his hand.

Sungjae covers his smile with his fist for a moment, thinking before finally giving in and revealing that his cup is actually empty.

"So Ga-In thinks that I actually bought it- Ow!"

I bite back a laugh, having witnessed Ga-in standing behind him from the moment he exposed his secret.

"Oh? So that's why my coffee is running out so fast, huh." Ga-In takes him by the ear, dragging him inside.

"Ow, ow, ow." Sungjae follows quickly, not wanting his ear to be yanked off.

I chuckle, starting to step after them, however, my body hesitates, allowing the door to close in front of me.

Behind these doors ....is Taehyung.

I rub my chest, trying to calm myself down.

Jungkook was wrong. This wasn't going to help me. It wasn't going to help at all. What he didn't realize was that deep down I was running away from him because I cherished my memories of who Taehyung was. If I go in there now, it'll ruin those memories precious to me.

My mind is telling me to run and I listen as I take a step back, turning around briskly.

I'm met with a solid chest, the person having just reached over my shoulder to open the door.

This scent.

I look up at Taehyung who stands there, nibbling on his lip, avoiding eye contact.

My body's frozen in shock.

"A-ah, late again...ha, hope the boss doesn't find out."

Why?

Why are you acting like seeing me is nothing?

"I-it's a joke... because I'm...I'm the boss."

I know.

But you probably don't even know.

Because you don't know me, do you?

With a memory like yours, it must not be unusual for you to see new people.

Taehyung rubs his neck, eyes shyly meeting mine.

Get over it, Jennie.

Face your fears.

"I know," I reply.

Do what scares you...

Stretching out my hand, I give him a small smile.

"As your new social media specialist, I want to introduce myself."

...until it doesn't.

"Hi, I'm Jennie."
