One Year Later.
Sitting in the small town café in Bucharest I sip my latte across from Bucky. He's been reading through the paper routinely every morning since I came back a year ago. I noticed it's a habit of his. I'm not sure if it's because Bucky actually enjoys it, is sifting for information on this new world he lives in, or because he's searching for a hint that people are onto him. No matter how many times I've told him to relax he can't. Not that I really can blame him. No doubt HYDRA wants their asset back and in tip-top condition. For the past year he's had me memorising his activation phrases in German in case anyone came for him. I tried assuring Bucky that I wouldn't allow it to happen yet I eventually gave in to his pleading. If it makes him feel safer then who am I to say no?

Tony is working for his company again alongside Pepper. At least he was considering he's splitting his time between the new Avengers facility and Stark Industry's. The last he told me they had gotten into a fight. He never told me what it was about and I didn't push it. When he and Pepper got into it it's best to leave them to sort their mess. Never the less, I'm always portalling to see Tony and keeping my word. I went a year without speaking to Tony once. I refuse to do it again.

I've also been poking my head around the Newly named Avengers base every so often, checking that Steve and Natasha have everything under control. They do, unsurprisingly. Apparently, they've had run in's with Rumlow and his squadron which I ripped into them for about six months ago when I found out they didn't involve me. After that I've been routinely called out to hunt him down on the limited leads we receive. I can see it frustrating Steve but he still manages to keep his cool and simply continue with life.

Besides that things have been running smoothly here in Romania. Hell besides the pop in's I do with Steve and Tony it feels like I'm living a normal life. No running, no fighting. Just living. I've loved it, don't get me wrong, but just like when I'd worked in the school back in Chicago I'm beginning to get restless. It's not that I need a fight. It's that I can feel it brewing and I have no idea where it is going to come from. Call me paranoid all you want. I call it being two steps ahead and right now I'm feeling about three behind.
