"We do this together. As a team."
"Kind of a broad answer don't you think?"
I would've thoroughly relished watching Loki get blasted across the room.
However, my attention is diverted when the Tesseract device atop Stark's suddenly beams a steady pulsating blue stream of energy into the sky. Stunned I can only stare from below as the blue beam rips open a gaping black mass in the clear blue sky's over New York. If a portal isn't shocking enough I find myself gaping at what comes through. Riding in vehicles which appear chariot like in nature the Chitauri spill into our world like a soda tap. Diving down to the concrete jungle we know as New York. They light up buildings as citizens run frightened from the otherworldly threat. Never in my life would I've thought this would be something I'd face. An alien army from another dimension. Like a really badly written movie or some eccentric dream I've conjured up. But as I stare stunned and completely in over my head I know I'm nowhere near creative enough to think this up. This is very real. Swallowing the anxiety rising in my throat I can't help but hesitantly tap my coms, "Houston we have a major problem."
"Right", Tony snaps back into gear flying up to the vortex "Army."
Cap and I step back further into the hanger hull as Barton and Romanoff swiftly fly us through buildings. Lowering the cloak before dodging through skyscrapers and shooting down Chitauri as we go. Whilst Natasha and Barton fire down alien after alien Cap and I are left to watch Tony attempt to cut off the Chitauri spilling through the vortex. Yet it's useless. No matter how many missiles Stark fires they come back through twice as hard and with twice as much fury.
"Adeline!" Natasha calls over the sound of gunfire "Can you pull a shield around the jet?!" I don't respond as I place my hands against the cool metal. Slowly but surely I let the energy inside me build before it's released. Like gift wrapping a present I imagine the field stretching out over the aircraft, wrapping it up in a parcel. When I open my eyes and see the sparkling gold film covering the windscreen in front of the assassins I let a small prideful smile grace my lips. I can feel the gunfire hit us but I know with absolution I can hold it. Unlike Thor's hammer their weapons aren't of gods.
