6 Months Later.

"See you tomorrow Miss Cortez!"

Smiling I wave after Marcus as he races down the school corridor for his mother. With a polite good evening to Reina, the teacher who occupies the classroom beside me, I close the heavy wooden door I have become so accustomed to. My black heels clicking against the tiled flooring I drop heavily into my desk chair. Breathing out an exhausted sigh I take a moment to laze in the furniture, staring up to the classroom ceiling. With thirty projects to mark and a teaching schedule to go over for tomorrow, it's safe to say I would rather be battling the Chitauri.

It's been precisely six months today since the battle of New York. Six months since moving to Chicago and starting a new life which I had longed for. Although now that I'd tasted what it is like to be a part of SHIELD, to be a part of something bigger than myself, teaching twelve years old's seems almost pale in comparison. For the first few weeks, a small part of me enjoyed this new life the organisation has given me. Payment for my skill set. Although as time progressed I felt my eyes wandering to the classroom door. Hoping that someone from the team would pop inside and drag me off on another mission.

I know better, though.

Collecting the student's projects I groan when I realised that Rebecca and Cole hadn't handed theirs in. "Of course", I murmur sliding the twenty-eight papers into my briefcase. Making a mental note to speak with them about their missing papers tomorrow, I slip my white bloused arms into my black coat. Throwing my black scarf around my neck I throw the bag strap over my shoulder, phone and keys in hand.

Yanking open the heavy door I almost scream in shock when I see my boss stood right up against the surface. Taking a step back I remain skeptical upon seeing her happily, pinched face "Miss Cortez!" She rather uncharacteristically coos, placing a hand on my shoulder "You never told me you have connections to Stark Towers!"

Raising my eyebrows at the older principal, I shake my head "Mrs. Henderson I have no idea why-"

"Congratulations Missy Cortez!" A woman beside her pops up enthusiastically, "Your submission to be one of the trial teachers for Mr. Starks new education foundation has been accepted! Welcome to your trail!"
