This John Doe will visit me in nightmares! Thank you so much!

Xara's POV.

It took quite a while for my breath to become calmer and more even. The whole adventure was pretty tiring, not to mention all the fear I had been through. Just one thought about something bad happenning to Romeo, about him drowning in there, it was just a bit too much for my nerves to take.

He and I were both sitting on his plaid, just drying up and keeping an eerie silence. There were so many things I wanted to say, so many thoughts that had to be yelled out loud, but not a sound escaped my lips. My roommate didn't look like a talk was what he needed, so I just went along with his attitude.

Good thing was that at least now he was eating something. It felt like that dive had shown him how much he had to lose, so he was trying to live his life now, while he still could. It wasn't like I would hurt Romeo intentionally - not in a million years! - so it felt rather sad and... Offencive, I guess.

I sighed and looked at the lake, which had already calmed down after our swim. It was pretty beautiful, really. Perhaps, we should stay in this place for longer. It has everything we need! Water, food, not too many people or monsters around. And who, if not us, would take care of the house?

And then it hit me. Romeo wasn't here for too long. Very soon, too soon for my liking, he would have to go with John Doe and face... Whatever that "final stage" is! I sighed and rubbed my forehead, that's not what I wanted! Why is it that I had only gotten used to having him around and I would have to let him go? Couldn't I for once have something great for long?!

In exasperation, I groaned and fell on my back on the ground, just hoping it would all go away like a dream. All I wanted was to feel good! Is that too much to ask?!

- Xara? - My eyes fluttered open and I wordlessly looked at Romeo. - Are, um, are you okay?
- Wha - It took me a second or two to comprehend his question, before I smiled and waved him off. - Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, just... You know, thinking.

- Oh? - He tilted his head and fidgeted around with the hem of his soaked T-shirt, his wet hair ending just above his shoulders. - What about?
The last words made him sound so nervous, as if he was trying to approach a creeper from behind. A small spark ignited in my chest and I smiled weakly, before sitting up and looking at him with curiosity. He was trying to make a small talk with me! That, well, that was nice to say the least.
