-Shawn-
"So what are we doing today?" Brooke asked.
I was laying on the bed and she was laying in my arms.
I looked down at her as she fiddled with her necklace.
"Whatever you want baby." I replied.
"I don't know." She sighed. "I've always wanted to go ice skating in New York City. But I suck so I would have to learn how to do that first."
"I can teach you!" I exclaimed sitting up abruptly.
She groaned turning to face me.
"But what if I fall or-"
"You won't." I said.
"Have you met me?" She asked. "I think I will."
"No." I replied. "Because I'll be there to catch you."
-Ice Skating Rink-
I watched as Brooke put her ice skates on.
I stood on the ice already waiting for her.
She stood up walking to the edge.
"I changed my mind." She said. Her eyes watched all the people skating around.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want to do this anymore."
I grabbed her hand ignoring her protests and pulling her onto the ice.
"Stop..." She whined gripping my hands.
I skated backwards pulling her along with me.
"Come on tell me this isn't fun!" I yelled.
"This isn't fun." She pouted.
I spun her around causing her to smile and giggle.
I couldn't help but smile as she spun into my arms.
Her face was centimeters from mine and I pressed my lips to hers.
She smirked as she pulled away.
"That still doesn't make this fun."
I chuckled pressing my lips to hers once again and spinning her around.

"Come on you can do it!" I yelled from about ten feet away from Brooke stood clutching onto the railing.
She shook her head no vigorously.
"Come on!!!" I yelled.
"Brooke don't make me!!!!" I said.
"Make you what?" She taunted. "What are you gonna do about it?"
-Brooklyn-
All of the sudden I felt hands on my waist pushing me harshly forward and forcing me to gain control and balance and skate towards Shawn.
I began to lightly glide on the ice towards Shawn.
"Oh my god!" I squealed. "I'm doing it! Look Shawn look!"
"I know baby I'm watching!" He exclaimed. His smile grew as I got closer and closer.
As I got closer I realized I needed to stop and slow down.
Only I couldn't. I didn't know how.
I panicked.
I got closer and closer to Shawn and his eyes widened as he realized what was happening.
He winked at me as I came crashing into him bringing us both down.
I was on top if him. My legs on either side of his left leg.
He busted out laughing.
I looked down at him and couldn't help but smile.
I pushed the hair out of his face before bringing my lips down to his soft, plump ones.
"Are you okay?" I whispered.
"Of course." He responded.
I rolled off of him so he could get up and then he helped me to my feet.
As I stood up I looked over to Austin and the girls.
The girls were "Ooh.."IngAnd "Aww."ing.
While Austin just looked thoroughly amused.
I smiled at all of them as we approached.
"You guys want to go get coffee or something?" Camilla asked.
I noticed Austin's arm around her waist and gave her look.
Recently I've become great friends with all of the girls and Austin.
Obviously they'll never be the same as Magcon but they were great.
She winked and smiled and I returned the smile shaking my head slightly.
"Sounds good to me." I nodded.
Shawn's hand slid around my waist and lead me to a bench on the side where we had previously taken off our shoes.
I took my skates off sighing in relief afterwords.
Shawn chuckled at my relief as I placed my boots back on.
He took my skates and returned them to the counter.
"Thanks baby." I whispered in his ear.
"Anytime." He whispered back sending shivers down my spine.
-Coffee Shop-
"No way!" I yelled.
Everyone laughed.
"So you really got kicked out?" I asked.
"They can't do that can they?"
"They can and they did." Austin replied.
"But you guys are like famous. I don't get how they can do that."
"We're not that famous." Ally said. "And anyways they don't care if your Michelle Obama they'll throw you out."
I laughed at her remark taking a sip of my coffee.
Shawn's hand rubbed up and down my thigh in a comforting way as he kept conversation with everyone seated at the table.
I smiled to myself.
"What's so funny Brooke?" Camilla asked.
"Nothing." I shook my head trying to hide my smile.
"Okay..." She trailed off smirking herself.
After coffee Austin took Camilla on a date and the rest of the girls said they were going shopping.
Shawn and I went back to our shared hotel room he had gotten just for us.
We walked through the door to the room quietly.
I took off my shoes as I heard the door slam shut behind me.
I jumped slightly as I felt Shawn's hands on my hips and his hot breath on my neck.
"What do you want to do?" He asked.
I sighed shrugging my shoulders.
"Come on!" He groaned pulling my hand over to the bed.
He plopped down first and pulled me on top of him.
"There must be something." He mumbled.
"I just came up with an idea and look where that got us." I said.
He chuckled slightly.
"I liked it." He said.
"Well I didn't. I get to cross one thing off of my bucket list though."
He laughed again.
"We could stay in and watch movies." I suggested. "Although I can't guarantee I'll stay awake."
"I love that idea." He replied.
-Later-
-Shawn-
I went out to get some popcorn and snacks while Brooke went to get the movie.
We agreed we would both meet back at the hotel room.
I went to the convenient store down the street and grabbed some of Brooke's favorite candy along with some of mine.
Returning to the room just before 8 I set up some blankets on the floor along with some pillows and the candy.
Since Brooke wasn't back yet I went in the bathroom and put a pair of shorts on and took my shirt off.
About five minutes later Brooke came into the room.
"God Mendes." She said.
I laughed bringing her lips to mine and pulling away leaving her wanting more.
"So-" She whispered clearing her throat. "I've got sad, scary, and funny."
"Sad?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Fine." She growled.
"Hey!" I exclaimed putting my hands up. She walked over to the DVD player in the room and put it in. "You got it!"
"Yeah." She said. "So what. You just want to see me cry."
I laughed shaking my head and laying down on the blankets.
Brooke joined me and I slid my arm around her waist pulling her closer to me.
"Hold on." She stood up.
I groaned as she strutted over to her suit case.
She quickly slipped her jeans down her legs revealing her lace underwear.
My eyes widened at the sight.
"Don't get any ideas Mendes!" She scolded.
I looked away blushing.
She joined me a few seconds later in an old t shirt and some shorts.
"I'm ready!" She exclaimed.
"Good," I laughed wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer to me.
"You smell good." She mumbled.
"Thanks." I chuckled.
Then the movie began.
-Airport-
-Brooklyn-
-1 Week Later-
I was going back home and Shawn was taking a plane to the next city.
I kissed him on the lips and he held me close to him so I couldn't pull away.
"Stop." I said.
"Stop what?" He asked.
"Making this moment last longer."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you can't make it last forever and I have to leave and we just need to get it done and over with like I kiss you and then just leave no words said. Maybe a 'bye' or 'I'll miss you.' But nothing more." I knew I had hurt him but I really didn't want to end up like I did last time and making this goodbye last longer was going to do exactly that.
"Fine." He looked down. He placed a short and sweet kiss on my lips.
"Bye." He whispered.
Tears brimmed my eyes as I croaked out a goodbye and walked towards the plane entrance.
I handed the flight attendant my ticket and walked onto the plane.
When I reached my seat I sat down stuffing my face in my hands and letting a small son escape my lips.
Forget what comes after I needed to say goodbye.
I set my bag down and quickly ran to the exit.
"'Mam this plane is about to depart you need to be in your seat." The flight attendant said.
"I know I'll be quick I swear." I promised.
She looked from me to the door and then sighing.
"Fine two minutes." She said.
I ran out of the door looking left and right to try and locate Shawn.
I saw a slumped figure sitting in a chair by the entrance.
His head was in his hands.
It had to be him. It just has to.
"Shawn!" I yelled.
He looked up and immediately stood up.
I ran over to him.
I slid to a halt in front of him and he placed his hands on my waist to steady me.
"What-"
I cut him off.
"Screw-"
He cut me off by pressing his lips to mine roughly.
I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"We need to stop cutting each other off." I breathed.
He smiled taking a deep breath.
He pressed his lips to mine once again.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." I mumbled.
"1 minute!" The flight attendant yelled.
"Who's that?" Shawn asked.
"Some lady."
He chuckled pulling me in for a hug.
He held me in his arms for the next minute.
I checked my phone for the time.
"Shawn." I whispered. "I have to go."
"Don't go." He whispered back.
"I have to."
"No, no stay here with me it's only a month and then I won't go anywhere else I promise."
"Promises are meant to be broken Shawn." I whispered.
And with that I left him standing there.
-Home-
-Brooklyn-
With only 4 weeks until Shawn came back home I found myself pretty happy.
He had been texting me as much as he could.
It was a rare occasion I got a phone call but I didn't mind as much.
Nash was coming for our graduation in the spring and it was all Chloe could talk about.
We had of course started shopping for the perfect dresses for graduation and the upcoming prom.
She was also looking for a date because Nash couldn't be there.
Shawn should be home but with him you need know and he probably wouldn't want to anyways.
So I guess we were both looking for dates.
Almost everyone in school was talking about it and it became very annoying.
My mom was scheduled to get her surgery in 2 weeks to remove her kidney which should hopefully get rid of the cancer.
Months of radiation followed if the surgery worked.
If not more hardships were sure to follow.
Something I don't think any of us could handle at this point.
-2 Weeks Later-
-Brooklyn-
I drove my mom to the hospital at 7 o'clock and stayed with her until they wheeled her off into surgery.
Leo had a meeting in the morning that he couldn't get out of so he said he would pick up my grandmother after that and bring her here.
Someone needed to be here at all times and that person was me.
I sat in my mothers room while her surgery went on.
I skimmed the tv channels looking for something to get my mind off the nerve wracking idea of something bad happening to my mom.
A few minutes into an episode of Friends Chloe walked in holding a case of Lilacs.
"You're too sweet." I smiled as I stood up.
"I know." She smiled back.
She placed the vase on the table before bringing me in for a hug.
"Everything's going to be fine." She mumbled into my hair.
"You don't know that." I said. "You don't know anything."
"Well true but I know that she's gonna be fine." She said.
I laughed slightly.
"I feel it here." She pointed to her gut smiling.
I laughed and patted a spot next to me on the window sill I had previously been sitting on.
She joined me in watching tv while we waited for some sort of news.
-Later-
Leo sat in a chair as well as my grandmother.
Chloe had to leave but Cameron had gladly taken her spot next to me.
My legs were draped over his thighs and he rubbed up and down my calf in a comforting way.
"Ms. Sanders," (her grandma) "Mr. Wyatt." (Her dad.) The doctor spoke.
They both stood up brushing off their pants and walking out.
I immediately tensed up.
"She's fine." Cam assured me.
I took my legs off of his scorching closer to him and grabbing his hand for comfort.
A few minutes later my grandmother and Leo walked back in.
His face very solemn.
Hers stained with tears.
I gripped Cam's hand tighter.
"It didn't work."
"W-what?" I stuttered.
Tears filled my eyes and my stomach dropped.
As if a thousand pounds were on my shoulders and they fell through my whole body, crushing me.
"They took out her kidney."
"I know." I said.
"It had already spread. It was too late."
"S-so w-what does that mean?" I stuttered holding back my tears.
"It means we keep fighting." My grandmother whispered.
I let the tears fall freely as I walked out of the room releasing Cams hand from my grip not caring what I left behind.
I trudged my way down the hall and to the stairs going down to the lobby.
I found my way to the chapel.
There was stain glass windows on every wall.
The altar had flowers people had brought.
Candles lit in people's memory lined the wall.
It was empty.
Not a soul in it.
I shut the doors looking for some privacy and I began to cry.
"Why?" I yelled.
"Why did you do this to us?" I yelled.
"To her!" I corrected. "She doesn't deserve this!"
I cried for a few more moments before wiping my eyes.
I was sure my face was red.
"You need to fix her! Y-you need to do something! You can't leave us like this!" I let more tears fall onto my cheeks.
I fell to my knees in front of the altar and wept.
I was interrupted by the ringing of a phone.
I pulled it out of my pocket to reveal the called.
Shawn.
I ignored it.
A few moments later it rang again.
I looked again.
Shawn.
"Stop calling me dammit." I muttered.
I was leaning up against the step that lead to the altar.
It rang once more.
"I swear-" I muttered.
Cameron.
I picked up the phone.
"Hello?" I whispered.
"Brooke?" He asked.
"No it's Bob." I replied sarcastically.
He laughed making me smile.
"You need to come to the fourth floor." He said.
I went through the floors in my head.
I knew most of them from being here with my mom so many times.
"That's the Pediatrics floor." I said.
"I know." He said. "Can you just get here?"
"Why?" I asked.
A big rock began to grow in my stomach.
"C-C-" He couldn't get it out.
"Cam!" I yelled.
"Chloe." He spit out.
And that was all it took for my stomach to drop and me to run like hell.
