-Chloe-
Brooke quietly put her phone down.
"Uh C-Chlo-" she stuttered.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Can you drive me to the hospital?"
"Why?" I asked.
I pulled to the side of the road and turned around to face her.
"My mom is there." She said.
"Is she okay?" I asked.
"I don't know." She responded.
"Brooke you need some sleep." I said.
"Well I can't right now." She said.
"Well the hospital is like 30 minutes away try to sleep in the car." I said.
I looked at Nash and he got out of the car and went in the back seat.
He rubbed her back and engulfed her in a hug.
I could hear quiet little sobs escape her lips as she cried into his chest.
I wasn't jealous because I knew him and her and neither of them would do anything.
Nash nodded his head and I started to drive.
About halfway through the drive I looked back to see Nash on his phone.
I figured he was texting Shawn. I pulled up to the hospital and turned back to face him.
"Is she sleeping?" I whispered.
"No." I heard a light whisper come from Brooke who was basically stuff into Nash.
"So I just let you lay on my boyfriend for no reason?" I asked.
She nodded smiling.
As smiled back at her, happy that she was happy.
"Did you text Shawn?" She asked. Her voice was raspy.
Nash nodded.
"I take it he didn't respond?" She asked.
Nash shook his head no.
"Right." She put her head down and sighed. "Because why would my boyfriend respond to me or anyone for that matter!" She screamed and jumped out of the car.
I got out too and Nash followed.
"Brooke!" I said.
"I'm fine!" She yelled as she stomped into the building.
I turned to Nash and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders as we watched an exasperated Brooke walk into the hospital.
"She's just struggling with a lot of emotions right now." He said rubbing my arm.
"I know." I sighed. "I know."
We both got into the car and this time Nash sat in the passengers seat.
"We need to get Shawn." I said.
Nash called him repeatedly and he never answered. We gave up when I pulled into his driveway.
But of course no one was home.
"Someone needs to be with her." I sighed.
"You can't go you have practice." He said.
I groaned and leaned back.
"What about you?" I asked.
"Her mom and grandma don't know me that well I think it would be kind of weird." He said.
"Yeah,.." I trailed off and then it hit me-
"Cameron!" I practically yelled putting the car in drive and taking off.
I sped to his apartment.
He's actually two years older than us. (A/n I know it's more than that but whatever.)
He owns his own apartment now and has a roommate and a dog.
(A/n let's take a moment to take in the adorableness of Cams dog. 1,....2,....3,.....4,.....5,..... Are we good now?)
I pulled into the parking lot and practically ran into the building.
I tried opening the door to the building but it wouldn't open. I pulled and pulled and then I heard Cameron.
I turned around to see Nash talking to him over an intercom.
"Jesus Christ Chlo!" He yelled through the intercom.
"Cam you need to come down here man." Nash said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Brooke." I said.
The intercom cut off and 2 minutes later Cam came.
He was wearing sweatpants and a random white t shirt.
"Let's go." I said.
We got in the car and as I drove to the hospital Nash started to explain the story.
"So," Nash began, "Chloe and I were-"
"He doesn't need to know all the details!" I practically screamed and my face got a light shade of red.
"I was going to say hanging out." He said smirking.
"Oh." Now my face was burning.
"Hey, I don't judge." Cam said putting his hands up in the air and laughing.
"Hey shut up man." Nash said.
"Alright alright no need to get pissy." He said. Nash glared at him.
"So anyways," Nash said. He finished telling Cameron the whole story just as we pulled up to the hospital.
"So where is she?" Cam asked.
"Ooh..." I said. "That I don't know,..."
"Ya know what I'll figure it out." He said getting out of the car.
"Why is everyone so pissy today?!!" I yelled.
Nash rubbed my arm and assured me everything would be okay.
I groaned.
"Hey." He said. I didn't do anything. "Hey." He repeated.
I looked at him and his lips crashed onto mine. I smirked against his lips.
"You taste good." He said.
I laughed.
"Like what?"
"Like coke and mint."
I laughed even harder and responded by pressing my lips against his.
"I could get used to this." He smiled.
"Well don't." I said.
"Why not?" He asked.
"Nash you're leaving in like 2 weeks." I said.
"Yeah that's 2 weeks." He said.
"So?" I asked.
"Who's pissy now?" He said.
"Sorry." I sighed leaning back in the seat.
"How is it that Brooke is handling all of this and I feel sad?"
"Maybe your PMSing." He said.
I hit him.
He laughed.
"Chlo she's not handling it." He said.
I sighed leaning back in my seat.
"I just feel so bad ya know?" I said.
"Ya." He sighed.
-Cameron-
I rushed into the hospital.
I walked up to the counter.
"Molly Sanders?" I asked.
"Sorry I don't see her and even if I did that information is confidential." She said.
I groaned and walked away.
I called Brooke.
"Hey where are you?" I asked.
"At home why?"
She lied! Brooklyn Sanders just lied to me!
-Brooklyn-
(Sorry for changing POVS)
I got a call and answered it without looking.
I don't know how fast news traveled in my family but the minute somebody found out I'm sure it would get spread around the whole family.
"Hey where are you?" It was Cam.
"At home why?"
I know I shouldn't have lied to Cam  I didn't want him to know.
I just didn't want the sympathy and stuff.
Currently I was in the ER they had just taken my mom in but apparently you had to be 18 to be back there. (A/n totally just made that up but I think it makes sense. Right?)
Technically I'm not 18 so they wouldn't let me.
"Brooke that's a lie." He said.
I froze.
"Where are you in the hospital?" He asked.
"I-in the ER." I stuttered.
"But Cam-" he hung up.
I looked around and I was all alone.
No one else was in the waiting room right now.
I hated hospitals. They're gross and dirty and sad and stuff.
I sat down on the window sill and looked down at the parking lot.
I watched as cars drove in and out of the huge parking lot and began to sing Shawn's song in my head.
'Guess I gotta show you,...'
I really loved it. I felt like it was a testament to show how truly powerful we are all by ourselves.
He kept telling me he was working on a new song. He kept saying he was really excited about it too.
I missed him.
Where the hell was he?
I didn't want to get into another fight with him.
"Brooke?"
I turned my head and Cam stood there.
"Hey." I said. My voice was really raspy. I cleared my throat and he smirked.
"I'm really sorry." He said sitting by my feet.
"Well don't be." I said. "I don't want your sympathy."
"Why?" He asked.
"Because I can handle it on my own and I don't need someone to tell me everything's going to be okay." I shot back.
"Okay..." He said. "Sounds like someone's getting their period."
"What?" I said.
"Nothing." He smiled and I couldn't help but smile too.
He sat back on the window sill.
"That's fine. But you don't mind if I sit here do you?" He said.
"No." I shook my head smirking.
I put my feet on his lap and he didn't say anything.
We just sat there in silence until my grandma came out.
I swung my legs over and off the window sill.
I stood up and my head pounded. I grabbed Cam for support.
"Are you okay?" My grandma asked.
"Yeah I'm fine just a head rush." I said.
"Hello Cameron." She said sarcastically. My grandmother loved to joke around. It was one if the crazy and weird things I loved about her.
Cam gripped my arm and I held into him.
"What a pleasure." He smirked.
"What did you come out here for?" I asked.
"Your mothers lung collapsed when they did the surgery for her chemo port." She said. "Leo is on his and he'll be in there with her. They're going to do some mild surgery to fix the lung and she'll be here for like a day." She said. She looked and sounded really upset.
"I'm sorry." Cam said.
"Brooklyn you don't look well." My grandmother stated.
"I'm fine." I said.
She looked at me sympathetically.
"Really." I assured her. "I'm fine. Just tired."
"Then go home and sleep." She said.
I sighed.
"Yeah come on Brooke." Cam said.
He led me out of the building.
"Cam." I grabbed his arm.
"How'd u get here?" I asked.
"Chlo dropped me off why?"
"She dropped me off too." I said.
"I'm not seeing your point." He said.
"We don't have a ride home jackass." She said.
"Oh I'll call a taxi."
He called a taxi and we waited outside the emergency room exit.
"Cam my head hurts," I whined.
He laughed and wrapped his arm around my body.
I leaned against him and into his side.
"Your pretty comfortable." I said.
He laughed.
"So uh where's Shawn?" He asked after a few moments of silence.
"I don't even know." I said.
He rubbed my shoulder.
The taxi pulled up and Cam told him his address.
"Whyd you tell him your house?" I asked.
"I figured that we could take a nap there. It's closer. Why do you need to go home?"
"No I'm fine." I laid my head on his lap and tried to keep my eyes open.
"Brooke were here." He said.
"Thank god." I mumbled getting out and walking into the building.
He unlocked his apartment door and I went to his room and laid on his bed.
"Um excuse me but this is my bed." He said.
I patted the side next to me barely listening to a word he was saying.
I felt the bed next to me lower and I relaxed into the bed falling asleep.
-Cameron-
No sooner did Brooke hit the pillow did he fall asleep.
I chuckled and laid down next to her dozing off myself.
I woke up later to a phone buzzing and I picked it up oblivious to who's phone it was.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Cameron?" It was Brooke's grandmother.
"Oh yeah sorry wrong phone." I chuckled.
"Yeah uh can you tell Brooklyn her mother is in a room now?"
"Sure." I said. "Where?" I asked.
"The cancer floor room 1209."
"Okay." I said. "Knowing Brooke well be there soon,"
"Okay!" She laughed. "Bye Cameron!"
"Brooke." I whispered.
She groaned.
"Your moms in a room now." Her eyes opened and she looked into mine.
"Can you take me?" She asked.
"Of course." I smiled.
"That was sympathetic..." She said strutting into the bathroom.
"Was not!" I protested.
She laughed and closed the door.
She spent like five minutes in there and then came back out.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Yup." I got up off the bed and led the way to the car.
She got in the passengers seat and I got in the drivers seat.
"Seatbelts!" I yelled.
She buckled hers and i buckled mine.
"Check!" We yelled in sync.
She was biting her lip to keep from laughing.
I couldn't help but think she was cute.
I mean who wouldn't?
She busted out laughing as I pulled out and started to drive.
She calmed down a few seconds later and we sat in silence for a couple minutes.
"Cam?" She asked.
"Yeah?" I said.
"Why did you come and help me?"
"I knew you needed someone." He said.
"Well thanks." I said.
"No problem." He said.
Just then we pulled up to the hospital parking lot. We entered through the Emergency room. There was an old guy with his wheel chair who almost ran me over and Cam quickly came to my save. We got to my moms floor and we said hi. I felt really awkward being around her. After a while it felt normal and I pulled some flashcards out and began to study.
Cam helped me, I had another final tomorrow.
After a couple hours Leo came.
Family after family member came in and after a while it became normal and all tension faded.
"Are you uncomfortable?" My grandma asked her.
"I'm fine."
"Are you in pain?" She asked.
"A little."
"Moll you should have said something."
"I'm fine." She repeated.
Leo went to the nurses station and asked for her pills.
"So how do you think you did on that final?" Cam asked.
"I think I failed." I replied.
"Come on you always say that and then you do great." He protested.
"I'm sure you did fine Brooklyn." My grandmother said.
I scoffed and we changed the subject.
After a few moments of silence someone spoke up.
"So where's Shawn?" My mother asked.
"I don't know." I said.
Cam set his hand on my leg and rubbed his thumb up and down in a comforting way.
"How do you not know?" Leo asked.
Cam looked at him and glared and so did I. Although what I was feeling wasn't anger or hatred it was sorrow. Where was he?
"I don't know." I responded.
After a few moments of silence I felt as if I were on the verge of tears.
"I need some air." I said. You could tell by my voice that I was going to cry but I didn't care.
-Cameron-
"I need some air." She said. I could tell by her voice that she was about to cry. I stood up and Leo put his hand up.
"I've got it." He said.
I wasn't sure how she felt about him but I didn't want to start anything so I just let him go and sat back down.
When he left the room Brooke's mom asked me a question:
"Have you tried getting ahold of him?" She asked.
"Yeah and Nash and Chlo did too." I said. "I think they still are except Chlo had practice." I responded.
"So he just like dropped off the face of the Earth?" Her grandmother asked.
"Well he dropped Brooke off at her test but just never came back and wouldn't respond to texts or calls."
"Oh." Was all she said and then we turned our attention to the tv.
-Brooklyn-
I walked down the hall and to a little waiting area. I could hear footsteps behind me and I figured it was Cam so I ignored him.
"Brooklyn." It was Leo.
"What do you want?" I asked spinning around towards him.
"There's no need to get that tone with me." He said.
"Yeah and what are you going to do about it?" I snapped.
He was silent.
For some reason I felt like taking all of my anger out on him.
"Who do you think you are?!" I pushed.
He was silent.
"Right old friends." I answered my own question. "Like I'm going to believe a load of crap like that." I said.
I stomped away. When I thought I heard him.
"What?" I snapped turning around.
"I'm your father." He repeated.
