Chapter 45

-Thanksgiving-
-Shawn-
After dinner my mom and dad offered to clean up since Brooke had made everything.
Brooke's mother went to lay down and her grandmother followed.
Aaliyah said she was going to help clean up.
Brooke turned to me. "Guess it's just us."
"Do you want to go for a walk?" I asked.
She nodded standing up and I followed grabbing her hand.
She walked into the living room.
"Shawn and I are going for a walk." She told her mother an grandmother.
"Okay." Her mother said.
Her grandmother gave her a look.
"Grandma-" Brooke began. "Do you see the muscles on this boy?" She asked.
Her grandmother chuckled as I blushed slightly.
"So we'll be back later." Brooke said starting towards the door.
"Love you!" They yelled.
"Love you too!" She yelled.
We walked out the door.
After a few moments of silence she spoke up.
"How long are you here for?" She asked.
"2 more days."
"2 more days?!" She exclaimed.
-Brooklyn-
"2 more days?!" I exclaimed.
I had basically just gotten used to the fact of him being gone and now he came back and it wasn't even for that long.
"Brooke I could barely get them to give me these days off to begin with and I need to fly all the way out to Seattle after this for the next show."
"I know." I whispered barely audible suddenly feeling horrible.
"Now." He said stopping and grabbed both my hands. "Can we please enjoy the time I have here before I have to go again?" I nodded and he smiled.
"Good."
-Later-
We went back to my house to find it smelled like pie.
Shawn took a deep breath.
"Mmm." He said wrapping his arm around me.
As we walked further into the house we noticed a sixth person had joined them.
He turned around and I suddenly felt my hand searching for Shawn's.
When it met mine I sighed in relief.
"Hello Brooklyn." Leo said.
"Hi Leo." I fake smiled.
"We were just talking about watching a movie. Would you be interested?" Mrs. Mendes asked. "Of course." I smiled a real smile at her.
We all walked into the living room.
My mother sat in the middle of the couch. Leo sat on her right and my grandmother on her right.
Aaliyah, Mr. And Mrs. Mendes took the love seat and Shawn and I took the chair.
Shawn wrapped his arms around me as the movie began and I sighed placing my head on his chest.
-After The Movie-
The credits rolled and I looked around the room, taking in my surroundings.
Shawn's head laid on top of mine.
Light snores escaped his soft, pink lips.
Mr. And Mrs. Mendes stood up waking Aaliyah from her light slumber.
"We're going to get going." They said.
I nodded although it was hard since Shawn was on top of me.
"I presume he's spending the night." Mrs. Mendes motioned to Shawn.
I lightly laughed nodding my head.
"Okay." She sighed grabbing her purse.
"See you soon!" They yelled as they went out the door.
As I looked over the room more I saw that everyone else was asleep except Leo.
'Great.' I thought.
I slowly got up from under Shawn being careful not to wake him.
He lightly stirred but was quickly sleeping again.
"I should get going." Leo said standing up.
I nodded offering him a weak smile.
"It was nice seeing you again Brooklyn." He said. "Nice that for once we didn't fight or anything."
"I wouldn't count on every time being like this." I said walking into the kitchen.
"Why?" He asked following me. "Why can't we just be civil to each other."
"Because just because you're my father doesn't mean you aren't a scum bag." I shot back. "You left us." I paused. This time I spoke quieter so they couldn't hear us. "Nothing you do or say will ever change that."
He was silent.
"I think I'll get going."
"Okay." I sighed following him to the door.
As he shut the door behind him I turned back to the living room. I grabbed two quilts and covered my mother and grandmother each up with one.
They lightly stirred but like Shawn quickly went back to sleep.
I walked over to Shawn and swung my leg over his body sitting on top if him.
"Baby boy." I whispered in his ear.
He groaned.
"Let's go to bed." I whispered. "Upstairs." I continued.
"In order for me to do that you need to get off of me." He mumbled.
"Ouch." I said grabbing my heart. "That hurt."
He chuckled.
I got off of him and he groggily stood up.
He stretched causing his bones to crack.
I giggled.
Before I knew it I was swept off my feet.
Shawn threw me over his shoulder and carried me upstairs.
I held in my laughter as he did so I wouldn't wake anyone up.
He shut the door with his foot before throwing me down on the bed.
"I have to get ready for bed." I breathed.
"Oh." He paused. "Me too."
He stood up taking his sweatpants and shirt off.
"All done!" He exclaimed plopping down on the bed.
I chuckled.
I went in the bathroom and took off all my makeup and put my hair into a ponytail.
After washing my face and brushing my teeth I stripped of my clothing completely forgetting I hadn't brought in another change of clothes.
I was left in a bra and underwear.
Upon my entrance into my room Shawn whistled.
"Shh!!!!" I scolded. "They're gonna hear you!"
"Babe you look so-" he bit his lip.
"Yeah, yeah save it." I said. I quickly grabbed the first clothes I noticed laying around and out them on.
I didn't realize until after I put them on that they had been Shawn's clothes.
"You want whole outfits now?" He asked as I got into bed next to him.
"Shut up." I said.
I pulled the covers just above my waist and turned in my side to face Shawn.
"This isn't right." He said.
"What?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"Switch with me." He commanded.
Too tired to complain or even ask why I just rolled over as he climbed over me.
Now I was on the inside and he was on the outside.
"So why did we do that?" I asked.
"Because-" he whispered. "I need to be there to protect you from demons and stuff."
I gigged and turned my back to him.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer.
I exhaled loudly causing him to lightly chuckle.
He placed his head in the crook of my neck.
Before I knew it light snores escaped his lips and soon enough they did from mine as well.
