-Brooklyn-
"How the hell did you know where to find me?" I asked.
Leo/my dad looked up.
"You're not that hard to figure out Brooklyn." He said.
Shawn's dad walked away silently probably to alert Shawn, I would assume.
"I am your dad after all." He smirked.
"You are not my father." I said.
He looked hurt.
"Brooklyn we can have tests taken if you wa-"
"I don't need a test!" I practically yelled. I felt a hand gently on my shoulder and I didn't need to turn around to see who it was.
"My father is in the hospital." I said through my teeth. Tears brimmed my eyes. "My father is the one who gave birth to me and took care of me for fourteen years." I paused. "Not you."
I let one tear fall.
"I think it's best if you leave." Shawn said.
Leo nodded and silently walked away.
Shawn shut the door in silence and looked at me.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I nodded and wiped the newly forming tears away.
"Fine." I said.
"Brooke you know it won't be like this forever right?"
I nodded.
I pulled my sleeves over my hands.
"Food now?" He asked.
I slightly laughed.
"There's that smile." He said smiling. I smirked.
"Shawn," I whispered. "What?" He asked.
"I can't go back in there." I responded.
"Why?" He looked puzzled.
"Shawn they don't know and they just heard all of that." I said.
"You'll be fine." He said.
"I don't want to go." I said.
"Come on."
His strength was no match for mine so he pulled me into the room.
I smiled weakly at everyone.
Ms. Mendes was the first to speak.
"I hear it's supposed to be nice tomorrow." She said.
I looked at Shawn and gave him the 'weather really?' Look and he laughed almost choking on his food.
"Honey are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," he coughed. "Yeah fine."
I smiled into my hand, glancing at him occasionally.
After dinner was over Aaliyah said she wanted to go in the basement and watch Netflix.
"No Brooke and I get the basement!" Shawn yelled running downstairs.
I watched as Aaliyah chased after him.
I followed them downstairs watched as Shawn fell on the floor.
I laughed out loud.
Aaliyah placed her foot on top of him.
"Victory!" She yelled, just before falling to the floor when Shawn pulled her down.
She laughed as she got up and brushed her knees off.
"Fine. I'll leave then." She pouted. She stomped up the stairs and I walked over to Shawn.
"Hey babe." He winked. He was still on the floor.
I smiled and blushed.
I sat down next to him and faced him on the floor.
"Hey babe." I whispered.
He smirked.
"Damn." He whispered.
"What?" I asked.
"It is sexy when you do that." He said.
I laughed.
"Can we please watch Netflix?" I pouted.
"Of course, babe." He smiled.
I pecked him on the lips and he stood up and then helped me up.
He pulled Netflix up when I failed at doing it.
"Friends." I said. "Friends, Friends, Friends."
"Okay, okay." He said. "Friends it is!"
"Yass!" I whispered.
He laughed and pecked my lips.
He played a random episode and wrapped his arm around me.
About four episodes later I shivered from the cold, as the sun descended outside.
I shivered pressing my lips together.
I felt Shawn's warm muscular arm wrap around my body as I curled up to him.
I laid my feet out to the side and laid my head on his lap.
"Isn't the best show ever?" I commented.
"Yeah." He agreed. "I think I'm officially obsessed. Plus," he added. "Jennifer Aniston is hot-"
I glared at him.
"Hey that's payback for Austin Mahone!" He defended.
I giggled pressing my lips to his.
"Shawn," I said.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Will you take me to the hospital tomorrow?"
"You're gonna go?" He asked surprised.
"Don't try and change my mind Mendes." I said.
"I'm not, I'm not!" He put his hands up.
I smiled.
"Of course I will." He said. I pecked his lips and he put his hand on the back of my head. My hair got entangled in his fingers.
His thumb caressed my cheek and he pulled away.
He began to pull his hand away from the back of my head when I felt a tug.
"Ow!" I screeched.
"Sorry babe." He bit his lip.
I felt a few small tugs and kind of ignored them.
"Hey Brooke?" He whispered. I looked at him. He was biting his lip.
"Yeah?" I bit my lip.
"I think my fingers are stuck." I groaned but smiled.
"Here." He explained how I should lay. I ended up laying on my stomach my head stuffed in the couch cushions. I lifted my head up and breathed in deeply as if I were going under water.
A few seconds later I lifted my head up again.
"This is really romantic." I said sarcastically.
"I know." He said. By the sound of his voice I could tell he was smiling.
I stuffed my face down again and a few minutes later I heard him speak.
"Okay were good." He said.
I laughed and pulled the camera up on my phone.
I turned it so the camera was facing me to see what the back if my head looked like.
"Oh my god!" I screeched.
It was a curly knotted mess.
"Nice job!" I yelled.
"Relax!" He said. "You can brush through it."
"Yeah." I mumbled looking at my hair more. "But it'll hurt like hell." He smirked.
"You can take a shower here." He said.
"It has been a little bit." I sighed.
"Perfect!" He exclaimed.
"Hey Shawn!" His mom exclaimed.
"Yeah?!" He called.
"Were taking Aaliyah to her friends house!"
He grinned at me before responding.
"Okay!"
"We'll be back in like an hour!" She exclaimed.
He sat there frozen until I heard the door shut.
Then he grabbed my hand and dragged me upstairs.
He grabbed my bag and pulled me into the bathroom.
He pulled out a towel and washcloth and handed them to me. He sat on the toilet seat lid.
"Uh Shawn?" I asked.
"Yeah?" He said biting his lip and looking up.
"No offense but could you at least leave while I get in the shower?"
"Oh yeah." He blushed.
I smirked and he shut the door behind him as he left.
I quickly got undressed and turned the shower on before hopping in.
A few minutes later I heard Shawn open the door.
"You in?" He asked.
"No." I said sarcastically.
"Ha ha." He said sarcastically back.
I laughed.
"After you're done what do you want to do?" He asked.
"Netflix?" I asked.
"We just did that though." He sighed.
I rinsed the soap out of my hair and added some conditioner to it.
"Um...." I paused. "I don't know."
"What time is it?" I asked.
"7:30." He responded.
"Hey babe?" I asked peeking my head around the corner.
He bit his lip.
"Yeah?"
"Can you give me my bag?"
"You're in the shower." He said.
"Yeah but I need something out of it." I replied.
"I can get it." He said.
"No it's fine." I said.
He grabbed my bag and began to open it.
"No seriously Shawn just give it to me."
He rummaged through it.
"What do you need?"
Seeing that he wasn't going to give it to me, I sighed and gave up.
"My razor and shaving cream." I responded.
"Is that what you didn't want me to see?" He asked.
"Partially." I shot back. "Now just get it."
"What else was it?" He asked.
He pulled out the razor and shaving cream and handed it to me.
"Was it this?" He pulled out my underwear and bra.
"That's great now put them back." I said.
He chuckled setting the bag on the floor.
"I picked out your outfit." He said.
"Oh yeah?" I asked shutting the water off. "Can you hand me my towel?" I questioned, squeezing my hair out.
"No thanks." He said simply.
"Shawn Peter Raul Mendes-" I started but was cut off when a towel hit me in my face.
I caught it, unfolded it and began to dry my body off.
"Thank you." I said.
"Mhm." He grumbled.
I wrapped it around my body and stepped out of the shower.
"Could you turn around for like 2 minutes?" I asked.
He turned around without protesting this time.
I dropped the towel and quickly slipped on my underwear and bra.
He turned around.
"Shawn!" I shrieked scrambling for the towel.
He laughed and stood up. He grabbed the sides of my face and kissed me.
I smirked against his warm lips.
"Where are my clothes?" I whispered.
"Here." He handed them to me.
A pair of my grey short shorts I had packed and a t shirt. I slid the shorts on and the shirt over my head.
I closed the curtain to the shower, brushed through my hair and turned to Shawn.
"Okay I'm ready." I sighed.
"Finally." He groaned.
"Shut up." I said lightly punching him.
"It takes you longer to do your hair than it does for me to pick out my outfit and put it on." I defended.
"P-lease." He said.
I laughed.
"It's okay though." I said. "It looks good."
"Just good?" He said. "It better look hot."
"It does look hot." I said.
We made our way downstairs and he laid on the couch, taking up most of the room.
"Where am I supposed to lay?" I asked.
He moved over the slightest bit and I laid down next to him.
"I feel like I'm going to fall off." I stated.
"Don't worry." He whispered, pressing his lips to my forehead. "I'd never let you fall." I smiled and pressed my lips to his and laid my head on his chest.
I yawned and he followed.
"You know they say it's contagious." He said.
"What?" I asked.
"Yawning."
"I don't believe that." I said. "I think that it's your mind. We've all been told that you yawn when your tired and so by the age of two it's molded into everyone's minds. But you yawn when you need oxygen. I think that someone else yawns because they need oxygen and your mind thinks their tired and so it's like 'oh should I be tired too?'"
He smiled.
"There's my little scientist." He said.
He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"But seriously I'm tired." I said.
He laughed.
He grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around us. I wrapped my leg around his and he wrapped his arms around my waist. I exhaled and rested my head on his chest. My eyes slowly dropped closed and I fell into a deep sleep.
-Shawn-
I woke up a little bit later to the sound of the basement door opening.
I heard two sets of footsteps walk down the stairs and then walk over to the couch so I shut my eyes so they would think I was sleeping and hopefully wouldn't make me move.
"Are you going to make them move?" I heard my dad.
"No." My mother said. "They're sleeping. Plus what are they going to do? If they were going to do anything they would have been smart and done it when we were gone."
"Yeah." My dad exhaled. "And they're pretty smart."
"Yeah." She said. "Brooklyn wants to study psychology ya know?" She said.
"Yeah." He said. "It's senior year this coming year."
"The only thing I worry about his how they're going to make this work." My mom whispered.
"They'll make it work." My dad said. "I've never seen Shawn happier. I don't think he would ever do anything to hurt that girl."
"Me neither," she sighed. "Me neither."
I listened to then ascend up the stairs with a smile on my face and then quietly dozed off.
