-Cameron-
"Cam," she whispered.
"Yeah?" I said.
"What time is it?"
"6-"
"What?!" She exclaimed. "We have to go."
"Brooke you don't even know what I was gonna say."
"6 something and the event starts at 7." She explained.
I laughed but stood up.
"Brooke wait." I said.
"What?" She said turning around and biting her lip.
"Thank you."
"Anytime." She smiled.
We walked back and got in out separate cars.
"See you later!" She exclaimed.
"Bye!" Then I got in my car and drove away.
-Brooklyn-
I checked my phone and saw a bunch of text messages and missed calls from Shawn.
I called him back and he answered almost immediately.
"Where have you been?" He said.
"Well hello to you too." I smiled.
"Brooke."
"I was with Cam, relax were on our way back now."
He sighed.
"So I'm gonna hang up before I die in a car crash." I said.
"That's not funny." He replied.
"Oh you know I'm hilarious." I said.
"Bye." He laughed.
"Bye." I smiled.
Then I called Chloe.
"Hey you ready?" I asked.
"I think so." She said.
"What are you wearing?" I asked.
"A skirt and crop top."
"Okay. Do you need me to pick you up?"
"Yeah that would be great."
"Okay I'm on my way but I have to go so I can call my obsessive boyfriend."
"Okay." She laughed.
"Bye!"
Then I called Shawn again.
"Are you almost here?" He asked.
"No I'm going to pick up Chloe." I said. "Should I meet you at the hot or the event?"
"Probably the event." He said.
"Okay." I said. "I'll see you soon."
"Okay." He said. "Be careful."
"I'm always careful." I replied. I could tell he smiled.
"Yeah right."
"Bye!" I exclaimed.
Then I pulled up to Chloe's house. She came running out. She looked really good. She got in the passenger seat.
"Hey." She sighed.
"Hi." I said.
"We're just going to meet them at the arena."
"Okay." She said.
We pulled up to the arena and then something occurred to me.
"Dumb ass." I muttered.
"What?" Chloe asked.
"I don't know how were supposed to get in." I sighed.
I called Shawn.
"Are you here?" I asked.
"Yeah why?"
"Because I don't know how I'm supposed to get in." I sighed.
"Oh uh." He stumbled for words. "Tell them your with me."
"Oh yeah Shawn because they're gonna listen to me."
"Then keep me on the phone and I'll tell them."
"You're so lame." I laughed.
So Chloe and I walked as Shawn directed us on where to go, on speaker. When we reached the back there was a security guard there.
"You can't be here 'mam." He said.
"I'm with Magcon." I said.
"I'm gonna need some proof."
"That would be right here." Shawn spoke up. Chloe and I tried to hold back our laughter as the guard looked bewildered.
"It's Shawn Mendes." Shawn continued. "I'm with Magcon. That's my girlfriend Brooklyn and her friend Chloe." He said.
"Okay, okay." He said opening the door and letting us in.
As soon as the door shut behind us we started cracking up.
We heard feet behind us and turned around trying to compose ourselves. It was Shawn and Nash.
"Oh it's only you." I said starting to smile again. Tears were streaming down my face from laughter.
"What happened?" Shawn asked, a concerned look plastered on his face.
I hugged him and just laughed.
-Chloe-
Shawn and Nash came walking up behind us. Brooke hugged Shawn still laughing and he have me a questioning look. I circled my finger around my ear, like she's crazy. He smiled and rubbed her back.
"Nash." She said pulling away. "This is Chloe, my best friend."
"Nice to meet you." He said.
"You too." I responded. His eyes were to die for.
He whispered something to Brooke and Shawn and then looked back to me.
"Do you want me to take you backstage?" He said.
I looked at Brooke and Shawn and they shooed me away.
I followed Nash backstage.
"Doesn't Shawn need to be back here with everyone?" I said.
"Yeah but he'll probably want to talk to Brooke."
"About what?" I asked.
"He was just really worried."
"About what?" I pushed.
"You ask a lot if questions don't you?" He chuckled.
"Sorry." I mumbled.
"No it's okay." He said. "Um did Brooke not tell you any of this?" He questioned.
"Any of what?"
"Before she picked you up, Brooke was with us at the hotel and we were having a good time. All of the sudden Cam left and Brooke followed. Nobody knows were they went. Cam hasn't said anything. But he has been acting weird lately."
"Oh." Was all I said.
"You think they're fighting?" He asked.
"I don't know." I sighed. "They could be."
Nash finished showing me around and we met the rest of the boys. They were all crazy and funny. I liked them. Nash never left my side.
-Meanwhile-
-Brooklyn-
"Where were you?" Shawn asked me.
"I went to pick up Chloe." I said.
"Before that." He said.
"With Cam." I said.
"Doing what?" He asked.
"Talking. Shawn, what does it matter?"
"Just talking?" He said sternly.
"You think something happened between us."
He was silent.
"I can't believe you!" I exclaimed. "Do you not trust me at all?!"
He was silent.
"You know what don't answer that." I said on the verge of tears.
"I'm sorry." He said sarcastically. "But when your girlfriend runs off looking for her ex-boyfriend you start to wonder." He yelled.
I was silent. I had never told Shawn that Cam and I had dated.
"That's right." He said. "Nash told me."
"So what?!" I exclaimed. "You know what, it wouldn't have even mattered to you if we dated because we would still be having this same conversation!" I yelled.
"Why did you not even tell me?!" He exclaimed.
"I don't know Shawn. How's that for a conversation starter? Because gladly if you want to talk about my ex boyfriend, then let's do that?!" I exclaimed.
"That doesn't explain why you wouldn't tell me or how it didn't come up."
"You know why, I didn't tell you?" I said angry tears now streaming down my face. "Because I didn't think it mattered to you about a boy I used to date. Because you know what? It didn't matter to me. All that mattered was you. But apparently you can't see that." I said. I blinked and the tears fell down and I stormed off before he could say anything.
-Shawn-
Then she stormed off. Tears streaming down her face. I wanted to run after her but someone snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Shawn!" I turned around Chloe was running up to me, Nash on her heels. They would make a really cute couple.
"Where's Brooklyn?" She asked.
"She-she stormed off, crying." I stuttered. I felt horrible.
"Okay well I'm gonna go comfort my best friend and when I'm done just know that I will hunt you down and kick your ass." And then she left.
"Hey, man." Nash said. "You okay?"
"I've been better." I mumbled.
"Well we kinda gotta go out there." He said.
"Yeah-" I said. "Yeah, yeah right."
-Nash-
Chloe was really cool and pretty. I was gonna give her my number but she ran after Brooke too fast. I'm sure I would see her again because of Brooke. But Brooke and Shawn were fighting. What if they break up? I don't know what they were fighting about but I'm sure they wouldn't break up over it. Or would they? I looked over at Shawn. He looked really depressed. I've never seen him like that.
Every once in a while he would glance at Cameron so I wondered if he had something to do with it. The night went as scheduled though. Shawn sang a little but everyone could tell he was down.
After the show we all hung out backstage and then we did meet and greets. I could tell Shawn just wanted to get out of there. He had nothing on his mind except Brooke.
Every minute he would check his phone and put it back in his pocket.
I went up to him.
"Hey man," I said.
He looked at me.
"Just go." I said. "Go get her."
He smiled weakly and ran.
-Brooklyn-
I ran to my car and just as I reached it, it started to slightly rain.
I sat in the drivers seat and put my head in the steering wheel. I covered my face with my hands and just cried.
Then I heard a slight knocking on the window and I turned around. Chloe was at the window. I unlocked the door and she hopped in.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
I tried to hold back my tears.
I shook my head no.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked.
I shook my head no.
"Okay." She said. "Well we can sit here or we can go back to your house. Is your mom home?" She asked.
I shook my head no.
"Do you want to go there?" She asked.
I shook my head yes.
"Do you want me to drive?" She asked.
I shook my head yes.
"Okay switch on three?" She said. By now it was down pouring.
I nodded up and down.
"One, two, three." We switched sides and jumped in the car.
She started the car and drove to my house.
When we pulled up we ran up and into the house. I took my shoes off, throwing then to the side and ran upstairs. I could hear Chloe follow me. I jumped on my bed and stuffed my face in the pillow. I felt the bed lower as she sat down next to me. She rubbed my back as I tried to hold back tears. Before I knew it I was asleep.
-Chloe-
After Brooke fell asleep I laid down. I didn't want to leave her alone. What if she woke up and wanted to talk about it? I turned on her tv. After about ten minutes the doorbell rang.
She didn't flinch. I ran downstairs and answered it. Shawn stood at the doorstep.
"Sorry asshats aren't welcome here." I said shutting the door. But he put his foot there so I couldn't.
"Just let me talk to her."
"She's sleeping." I growled and glared at him.
Just then the toilet flushed upstairs.
"Oh yeah right." He said pushing me.
I didn't realize until he stepped into the room that his eyes were puffy from crying, I'm assuming.
He ran upstairs and I followed.
-Shawn-
I pushed passed Chloe and ran upstairs to Brooke's bedroom. I could hear Chloe trailing behind me. Brooke was sitting on her bed. Her hair was pulled back. She was in grey shorts and a big t shirt.
She was on her phone.
"Shawn!" Chloe screamed.
Brooke looked up. Her face was pink and stained with tears. She took one glance at me and ran into her bathroom locking the door.
"See what you did!" Chloe slapped the back of my head.
I went over to the door.
"Could you give us a minute?" I looked at Chloe.
"No." She said sternly.
"It's okay Chlo!" Brooke said. "Go home I'll call you later!" Her voice was raspy and trembled as she talked.
Chloe glared at me but then left us alone.
"Can you come out now?" I asked.
"No." She said.
"Come on Brooke." I said. "I want talk to you and I would much rather do it to your face than a door."
I heard the door unlock and it slowly opened. She came out and got on her bed. She huddled in the corner and I sat on the edge.
"Listen Brooke," I started. "I'm really sorry. I do trust you but I can't help it. I mean look at you. Cam had been acting weird lately and when he left you just went running after him. I jumped to conclusions and I shouldn't have." I finished.
"But even though I'm sorry that doesn't mean I can't be a little upset with you. Why didn't you ever tell me about you two?" He asked.
"Because," she said her voice was raspy. "Like I said two hours ago I didn't think it mattered." She growled.
"Why are you asking me the same question again?" She shot back.
"I just- I'm annoyed Brooke."
"Join the club." She murmured.
I hated seeing her like this.
"And what are you annoyed with?" She said sarcastically.
"You-Cam-Me. Me." I repeated.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because how did I not know." I sighed.
"Because Shawn it didn't matter to you. Just like it didn't matter to me. Because we love each other and we didn't give a damn about the past or the future!" She yelled. "All we cared about was us. Right there in the moment." She sighed and stood up. "Maybe it was stupid to think that could ever actually work." She slightly laughed but it was laced with tears.
"So your just gonna give up like that?" I said standing up. "You're not even gonna fight for us?!" I went over to her. I looked down at her.
"What's left to fight for?" She whispered as tears streamed down her face.
"What's left?! Brooke!" I exclaimed.
"What?!" She yelled back.
I grabbed her shoulders and pushed her against the wall. My lips met hers. She placed her hand on the back of my neck, automatically. I pulled away.
"Now you look me in the eyes." I said through my teeth. "And tell me you felt nothing when I just kissed you. Nothing left fighting for." She looked down.
"That's what I thought." I said. And this time I walked out on her.
