I leave Jace go whatever business with his father he needs to sort and walk back into the party. I'd love a martini right now, I decide that bed seems like a good option and politely make some good nights to the people I'd be chatting with. I walk into the hallway and see Ben.
"Hi Grace, how are you feeling?"
"I'm okay thanks Ben. I'm off to bed though, could you let Jace know?"
"Sure no problem." I smile and walk upstairs to where we are staying tonight and kick off my shoes. I wonder where we are going to live? Wherever it is I hope our fortress is less..dark than this one. I decide to have a shower and wash my hair I slide out of this dress and remove my mask. I let my hair down Bobby pin at a time and turn the shower on. I smile at my reflection in the mirror, I look good like this. I might not feel good but I look it.

I hop in the shower and let the makeup and hair products float down the drain. I wash my hair with whatever I'm sure Isla left out and do the same with my skin. What happened tonight begins to sink in to me. The way Jace would just nod his head or wave his hand, it seems insane to me. I begin to worry that the man I love May change significantly now, infact I'm almost certain he will. I just hope that it's a change we both like. I hear the door open and slam closed and I jump. I turn the shower off and wrap myself in a towel to see who just came in.
"Hello?"
"It's me!" Jace replies. I open the bathroom door and walk out. Jace is pacing the room.
"What's wrong?"
"Where did you go? I was so worried."
"I told Ben to tell you I'd gone for a shower."
"Yeah he's just told me."
"I wasn't gone long."
"I know I'm sorry I just worry." Oh this is about yesterday.
"Jace we are fine I'm fine I just was tired but needed a shower first. I've drank nothing but lemonade and soda all night so you can calm down." He looks at me and bites his lip.
"Sorry. It's been a hell of a night."
"I know." I put on one of Jaces T-shirts as he seems to have an abundance of clothes while I have none.
"I need to go back to the party, I'm sorry."
"It's fine I didn't expect you to come with me."
"Bens outside the door if you need anything."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean Ben is outside the door, Grace he's your security you know this."
"Right, I just assumed in a house full of people that's pledged allegiance to you I'd be safe."
"You are it's just a precaution."
"Jace?"
"Mmm?"
"Where's Michael?"
"The boys have taken him to a safe holding, they won't leave his side. Then tomorrow they will put him on a plane." I nod. It's a lot to take in but I feel no remorse for this man.
"Okay." I walk over to the bed. Jace comes and sits on the bed.
"I'm sorry about tonight, it won't always be like this. Things will get normal again." He pulls me into a kiss, I can feel his desire to do more beneath it. He pulls away and smiles.
"Sleep tight." He leaves the room and I lie in bed just thinking about tonight's events. Eventually sleep comes.

When I wake up it's nearly 9am I roll over to see if Jace is in bed but it's empty. I begin to panic and sit up. I slide Jaces hoodie that I've decided to claim as my own on and walk outside the room I'm relieved to see Ben stood outside.
"Morning Grace."
"Hi Ben, do you know where Jace is?"
"I believe he's in the office."
"Did he go to bed?" Ben shakes his head.
"He was dealing with some business." I nod
"Thanks Ben, why don't you go get some rest."
"I will shortly."
"Then atleast something to ear I insist." He nods and smiles. I run down the stairs far to quick and feel my stitches pull I stop and bend over to try and recover myself.
"Mrs Atlas?" I look up to see a young looking man. I recognise him vaguely. I try to stand straight but it hurts.
"I'll go get your husband."
"No no it's fine." I pant out but I can't see him anymore. If I wasn't on the stairs I'd pull this T-shirt up to check I hadn't done any damage. Jace runs into the hallway he's in the suit from last night without the mask and looks, exhausted. He rushes up the stairs to me.
"Grace? What is it?"
"I just ran down to fast. It's my stitches." Jace lifts my top up and squints his eyes at me.
"Oh god what?"
"I think you split a few, there's some blood on the dressing." I knew it hurt.
"Shit." Jace scoops me up and takes me back to our bedroom. He puts me on the bed gently and walks back out the room a second. He says something to one of the men outside the door and comes back in. He comes and lies next to me.
"Why were you running down the stairs anyway?"
"To find you, you didn't come to bed."
"I know. Sorry."
"You're not going to say why?" He smiles.
"We were just partying, then some things came up."
"Like what? Jace you can tell me, you can trust me."
"It's not that, I just didn't know if you'd want to know."
"If it involves you of course I do."
"Even if it's not legitimate?" I raise my brows and look at him.
"Yes. Last night I shot your dad Jace, you were killed in a plane crash hours before and then watched you do cocaine. There is nothing legitimate around here anymore." He nods.
"I took ownership of Terrys nightclub, it's on Broadway. It's a cover up, there's a private club there." I nod. I've watched enough films to know what that means girls, drugs, drinking.
"Jace I don't want to ask this."
"What is it?"
"You're going to stay faithful to me right? You'd never do what you did last night from another girl right?" He smiles and kisses me.
"I'd never ever do anything like that. It's more for the other men. I'd hoped you'd join me when we go. Grace your my wife, it's our empire, girls won't look at me incase you're there. You are everything to me. Never question if I'll be faithful, that's a given. Look at Terry and Emma they are perfectly happy. We will be too." He kisses my forehead. He stinks of whiskey and cigars but I don't care he's mine. A knock at the door comes and Jace walks to the door. A small lady whose clearly a doctor or something walks in.
"Grace this is Helen. She's a midwife and doctor. I ask the boys to call her when you hurt yourself." Jace smiles
"Hi." I say and she smiles. I'm beginning to wonder if they have people like this on speed dial here to deal with all sorts I don't want to think about.
"Hi Grace, lovely to meet you. Can I check your stitches?" I nod and smile. I lift my T-shirt and Jace comes and sits next to me and takes my hand in his.
"Okay, I'm just going to remove the dressing, I'll redress it the same way don't worry." She's really gentle removing the bandages. I'm grateful for that. It does however reveal that I have indeed pulled some of the stitches.
"Grace I think these wounds have came together really well. I'd be happy to not put any back in. We can just put some strips across to help it heal." I smile and nod I'm relieved.
"Thank you."
"Would you like to see the baby?" I look at Jace who smiles.
"Obviously." I laugh and wince it does hurt having these stitches ripped. Helen redressed my wounds and pulls out a portable ultrasound of her bag.
"Grace id normally not do this, but I'm aware you're within a 72 hour risk window so I'll come back tomorrow and check you again. If not I'll wait till your 12 weeks okay?" I nod. She puts some gel on my tummy and slides the wand gently onto it. The small bean we've come to know so well the last few days flashes up on the screen. Helen turns the sound on the machine and the heartbeat fills the room. I smile and look at Jace whose smiling at the screen.
"Looking all good guys. No concerns at all." She removes the wand and I smile at Jace. He sinks back into the pillow and smiles at me.
"Thank you."
"Grace here are your antibiotics and vitamins I note they weren't picked up yesterday. Make sure you take these as soon as you can." I nod. Helen leaves the room and Jace rolls to his side and looks at me.
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"Just you, us, our baby." He leans over and kisses my forehead.
"What are you doing today?" I suspect he's going to sleep.
"Well we need a house, so I think house shopping. I also need to make a statement about the fact I'm alive." I smirk and pull him in to me.
"You also need to shower and brush your teeth, you smell like a bar." He rolls his eyes.
"Yes mum." He winks and stands up taking his suit off. I watch him and smile. He climbs onto the bed and kisses me. He runs his hand down my neck.
"Jace we can't."
"Can't make out?" He laughs and continues kissing me.
"I love you." He whispers. He climbs back off the bed and take his boxers off. I bite my lip. I can't wait till we can have sex again. Just a few more days.
"Um Jace I don't have any clothes?" He laughs
"Guess you'll have to wear my clothes all day then won't you?" I look at him and roll my eyes. He walks to the door and holds his head out and talks to someone.
"Someone's going to go get you some clothes from home, they shouldn't be long." I nod. This is so odd having people do anything and everything. I laugh.
"Jace you're naked." He laughs back
"They didn't see anything." He winks and walks into the bathroom. I hear the shower turn on and smile. Life does feel pretty good right now. Jace doesn't take long in the shower and comes out smelling a lot better. He throws on a black suit and leaves the top buttoned up.
"Is this your new attire?" He laughs.
"No but I figured I should look the part. Did I mention I asked them to bring the Bugatti back with your clothes?"
"How will they get it out the garage?"
"They'll manage."
"I fancy a new car."
"Oh you do do you? A new car and a new house?"
"Yeah I think the Bentley needs replaced." Jace nods.
"I agree...what you thinking?"
"I'd like a G wagon again?" Jace looks disappointed and raises his brow.
"We can have a G wagon but I want something nicer."
"I have no idea what other cars are out there."
"What about a Rolls Royce? Or a Aston Martin. You loved the Aston."
"Or a Lamborghini, that's yellow." Jace laughs.
"Okay fine. A yellow Urus then. I might buy myself a rolls though." He winks and puts on some aftershave, Dior today.
"I need to make a statement on the plane crash before we go anywhere. Do you want to join me?" I nod.
"Yeah i will."
"We will do the conference at Atlas I think."
"What are you going to say?"
"That I wasn't on the plane? I literally have no idea."
"You could tell the truth? Ish?" I laugh.
"Maybe. I'll think about it in the car." He smiles.
